What difficulties did you come across when replacing this car part?
How do I determine if a replacement is necessary?
autodoc.co.uk when they’re rusted on.
@@joe123456789953 If you get a constant noise from one of the wheels that gets worse as speed increases. There should be slack when jacking the car up and shaking the tire
@@KrissRacing , my 335i Convertible has excessive cabin noise. I replaced the rear tires to a Michelin Primacy MXM4 hoping the noise level will go down, but it didn’t. The front tires are still the run-flat tires. Could the cabin noise due to a bad bearing hub? Is there a good way to isolate to a specific bearing that I should replace? I can try your suggested method by jacking the car up and see if there is any play with the hub.
@@SuAmigo12 yes do that, jack it up and see if the wheel feels loose and if its harder to turn compared to the other ones. there also may be some noise coming from the hub when turning the wheel

is there also a video about rear wheel bearing removal and installation ???
For the same car (e90)
Such a great video! Thanks
Somehow I find watching this very relaxing
Thank you for sharing your opinion!
Hi , it’s possible to do this job with car jack ?
By any chance do you have a video concerning the replacement of the rear bearing on an E90 BMW
Thank you for the feedback! We are currently working on creating a wider range of tutorials including the car you mentioned. Stay tuned and follow our latest updates. Best regards, Autodoc.
I noticed you have one for the E60 is that the same procedure or is it a little different as far as the entire kit or assembly is concerned
Thank you for the feedback! To give you an answer, we need to know more information about your car and its configuration. Stay tuned and follow our latest updates. Best regards, Autodoc.
Easy job. Thx for vid:)
Thank you for the feedback! We are glad that our tutorial was helpful for you. Stay tuned and follow our latest updates. Best regards, Autodoc.
Great video. The E90 is a bit easier than the e39. I had to thin the wrench head a little to clear the strut. Does anyone know the torque specification on the e90 hub bearing and caliper mounting bolts?
Thank you for your feedback! This information can be found in the technical documentation regarding the repairing of your car. Unfortunately we don't have this information. Best Regards, Autodoc
I plan to do this repair pretty soon. However, I have a 335xi. Is there a tutorial for that version? My kit is just the ball bearing + lock ring.
Thank you for the feedback! We are currently working on creating a wider range of tutorials including the car you mentioned. Stay tuned and follow our latest updates. Best regards, Autodoc.
I thank you for creating this video. this is my next project. the only thing i wish was added and that was what is the compound you were putting on the bolts when replacing them. all i could see was molly.
Thank you for the feedback! We are glad that our tutorial was helpful for you. Your opinion and remarks are very important for us. We will take them into consideration for our next tutorial. Best regards, Autodoc.
Is there anything we're supposed to be paying attention to or focusing on when we're putting the brake caliper back on?
Thank you for the feedback! Of course, you should carefully inspect the caliper for the signs of damage of the dust covers and brake hose, as well as the condition of the piston and the pads' degree of wear. The brake system is very important and your safety directly depends on it. Best Regards, Autodoc
How do I know when to change the front bearings? Thanks for the video
Thank you for your comment!
When driving, a hum will be heard, and the closer the bearing is to the end, the stronger the hum.
can this process be used on a 2011 BMW 328I X DRIVE?
Thank you for your feedbaack! The replacement will be similar, the only one may differ slightly from the design features of your car.Best regards,Autodoc!
Real professional job. Did it actually take 10 minutes to change one front wheel bearing?
No it didn't...very clever editing at 3:20...they skip the most difficult bolt to get to(you see him only loosen three of the four bolts w/the offset wrench), which is recessed behind the strut...in fact the offset wrench is really not recommended(on rusted bolts) unless you have a pipe big enough to slide over as a cheater bar...a short thin walled hex socket is best with either a swivel or flex head ratchet, bcuz of the strut intrusion...and it's that bolt that makes the job tedious...so I can understand why they edited that out for a shorter video...but like most youtube videos, it's only a good reference until you do the job yourself.
hi...do you have for the back wheel bearing a video to?
Thank you for your feedback! Yes, we have video on a fronr bearing replacement, please, check: ua-cam.com/video/wwMCmGw5erE/v-deo.html
Great job on these videos! But how come the mechanic never uses a torque wrench to make up all of these bolted connections? It is important to have these suspension connections properly torqued!
Thank you for your remark! We use the torque wrench regularly in our new videos. Best Regards, Autodoc Team
Is this the same process for a 2009 bmw 335i ?
Thank you for your feedback! Overall, the replacement procedure is similar. Still, more information on your car is required in order to advise you properly on how the parts should be replaced. Be sure to contact our Customer Support agents for more details. Kind regads, Autodoc!
handy video
on e60 it's the same process?
Thank you for the feedback! Generally, there is no difference, still the process might substantially differ in the details from the one that is shown in the video. Best regards, Autodoc.
can the bearing be a replaced without the hub ?
Thank you for your comment! In this case, the bearing cannot be replaced without the hub. Best Regards, Autodoc Team
if only our cars were shown so much TLC
Don't you have to use new bolts? Thanks
Thank you for your comment.
That's right during the installing our mechanic made a mistake, you should use new bolts. In the following videos, we will try not to make such a mistake.

Is it possible the car to shake when applying brake due to a fault wheel bearing , especially at higher speeds
Yes, shaking is possible due to the wheel bearing, but when braking, it is more likely that these are brake pads and discs, most likely they are already very worn out.
Word has it if you don’t spin the new wheel bearing your car will fail lol . I always spin them hahaha this is the easiest wheel bearing hub job I’ve ever seen
What is the glue looking green stuff at 5:20?
Thank you for feedback! It is a sealant that prevents spontaneous unscrewing of bolts. Best Regards, Autodoc
It's called locktite
Is this the same on a e92?
Thank you for your feedback!
In general, the replacement will be the same, the only thing may differ slightly in the design features of your car. Best regards, Autodoc!
the copper grease seems to be liqui moly. What's the reference?
Thank you for your feedback ! Please, check the link for Liqui Moly www.autodoc.co.uk/liqui-moly/9678170. Best regards, Autodoc.

The process is mostly the same but you'll need to remove the half shaft in order to replace the bearing... Or the hub if you're following this mistitled video.
What's happen in a auto magic gears go to drive but car doesn't move bmw 3 series patrol
Thank you for your comment!
Unfortunately, without proper diagnostics, it is difficult to say something.
We recommend contacting an auto mechanic.

What about torque specs? Just elbow-torquimeter?
You are absolutely right, in practice, it is important to use a torque wrench and observe the appropriate tightening torques.
What liquid did this dude used on the bolts ?
Thread locker
I just did this in an e82...the first bolt he broke...I named...I named him Mr. A**hole because in the 82 you cant get a socket in there to back it out...so you get to wrench it out and that pink lock cement is a combo of Supermans hair gel and the Adamantium used in Wolverines bones...but it can be done in about an hour each side with ease.
Thank you for sharing your experience, it will be very useful information for us and our viewers.
Best Regards,
Autodoc team
Lock tide or just lube ???!!!
Loctite not "Lock tide" and it is most likely anti-seize threadlocker
the video 11 min , did take me 5 hours
those bolts with loctite wont come off unless you warm them up with a torch...the video seems to omit that
Thank you for the feedback! Thank you for the interest in our channel. Stay tuned and follow our latest updates. Best regards, Autodoc.
what fantasy world is this that those 18mm bolts done have red locktite, making them impossible to remove with standard tools, let alone your fingers
I'm trying to comprehend why they need any form of thread locker because they're single-use bolts unless I'm misremembering
What's the "special copper grease"? can someone explain in usa terms?
Thank you for your comment!
In this case, we used copper grease in the 3970 Liqui Moly spray.

Replacing the wheel bearing on a RWD e90 is child's play. You should've shown how to do it on a x-Drive model.
Thank you for the feedback! We are currently working on creating a wider range of tutorials including the car you mentioned. Stay tuned and follow our latest updates. Best regards, Autodoc.
I'm glad someone posted this. This is exactly what I need as well, hehe. I have a Bentley (Haynes) Manual for my car and it's helped me quite a bit. After I read how to do it in there, I was ready to give up and go to a mechanic. I decided to UA-cam it and found this video, only to realize that my setup looks nothing like this. :(
gino20202 - i just bought wheel bearings but no hub should i replace the hubs as well ? ( its the Xi )
@@iysisrose yes, unless you have a press to put the bearings in the old hub. Also, this tutorial is nothing like changing Xi wheel bearing hub. That is much more difficult than this
No torque wrench or values used. Thanks! Should be called Auto Dorks.
Thank you for your feedback and your attention to the details! In the new videos, we have already fixed this nuance and now we are sure to use a torque wrench indicating all tightening torques. Best Regards, Autodoc Team!
You don't really need to talk it you just needs to tighten it till it stops spinning
Not a very accurate video for folks thinking they’re going to do this in 15 mins in their driveway ,this is only a rough guideline on what’s required .
Anyone considering this please be prepared for a different job
1. You’ll find the top bolt difficult to get to using normal socket / wrench, the offset one …maybe , better to remove some suspension parts to get proper access to it
2. Don’t expect to remove them with your fingers like in the video they will fight you all the way
3. You should make sure you have new bolts to attach new hub/bearing as these are one time use stretch bolts , and should not be reused-or need thread lock for that reason
4. You must tighten up much more than shown in the video , there is a specific torque setting for them and require a torque wrench to hit that number , if you don’t have a torque wrench then tighten up really tight really really tight , same with the big centre nut on the outside when finished drop car back into ground with wheel on and use breaker bar with extension to really tighten that sucker up
Thank you for sharing your experience, it will be very useful information for us and our subscribers.
Nice when you already did all the loosening of the bolts before the video was filmed.... 😑
Unfortunately, the condition of the bolts and connections can be very different. Our videos are for guidance only.

Steel wheels on an e90? Lol wat
Thank you for the feedback! We hope that our tutorial was helpful for you. Stay tuned and follow our latest updates. Best regards, Autodoc.
123456bmx Now I've seen everything
that's what I was thinking. I don't think I've ever seen hub caps on a bmw before. Not any BMW made after 1995 that is.
You guys are kidding right??
This is just a Demo to show how it is done.
I think in europe on economy models. Thats like s honda over there. Most have cloth interiors to. Some very funky plaid mercedes interiors.
Know what's weird, A BMW WITH HUBCAPS
Thank you for the feedback! We hope that our tutorial was helpful for you. Stay tuned and follow our latest updates. Best regards, Autodoc.
Re-using the bolts not such a great idea.
Thank you for your comment!
You are absolutely right, the new bolts should be used and we will definitely indicate this in the new videos.
Best Regards,
Autodoc team
However those bolts are steel not aluminum so there is no stretch...to each their own.
Did not torque the 4 mount bolts. Backyard mechanic!!!
lmao hella scratched the rotor
Thank you for the feedback! We hope that our tutorial was helpful for you. Stay tuned and follow our latest updates. Best regards, Autodoc.
Torq spec?? Nothing important.. just a hand feel..
Thank you for the feedback! This video is considered to be an informative one, and it shows the sequence of repairs, without going into all the technical nuances. Best regards, Autodoc.
Torq spec sounds pretty important
A good way of tightening by hand is to first snug the bolt and then do 90 degrees. This usually gets you close enough. And if you look closely, this is actually what he does (roughly). To me this was a job well done and no need for torque wrenches for jobs like this with such experienced hands.
