One idea could be make the subathon focused around bro vs bro. Each day you would face a new streamer, and rather than betting shoes or subs, you wager one day of the stream. So everytime you win, the person you beat has to take over the stream for the entire next day. This would provide a variety of content and allow for you to get breaks from the constant streaming. I expect to get paid for this idea

Crazy idea. Send your roommates/friends/other streamers to different countries around the world and do a "pass the torch" subathon. Rather than sleeping on stream, pass the stream on to someone in a different time zone. The longer the subathon lasts, the longer everyone has to stay abroad.

Would be cool to see a charity subathon where the charity changes every 24 hours. Transparent, helps multiple different charities and people who are passionate about one charity but not so much the others may be inclined to support certain days. Could also be used as a rough metric for seeing which charities your community/the UA-cam community overall feels the most passionate about.

I like the idea of having a huge empty room with a giant wheel that you spin when sub goals are reached. The wheel is filled with individual tasks which must be completed as quickly as possible. When the task is completed a picture of you completing the task is printed out and posted to the wall to show all the accomplishments done during the stream. Task could be irl or gaming related and possibly a list could be generated with the help of friends, mods, and chat months in advance through a Google forum thing possibly try to make some of the tasks chat interactive. This gives the stream the goal of completing the most amount of tasks in the allotted time of the subathon and shows a progression of how the subathon went by the end of the stream by a cool room filled with achievements.

@@kowal2486 what does it have to do with Nintendo? It's just what it is - reacting is stealing. UA-camrs don't get money from exposure, and unlike videogames, you don't get a different experience by watching the video yourself compared to watching a reaction. Even though letsplays also have questionable morality, both parties (letsplayers and videogame creators) seem to benefit from this, so it's fine in my books. UA-camrs however rarely if at all benefit from reactions to their content, which was proven time and time again.

One half of the stream goes to a designated charity and the other goes to an audience voted one where people submit videos pitching their chosen charity and depending on the votes that determines how the money gets split. I got to watch someone I've never met make their goals and dreams come true and we donated a heck ton to charity. There was drama, there was intrigue, there was so much fun, I found track mania and valorant that I still love from seeing you play it in the subathon. Nothing will ever compare to what you did and there was something so calming and exciting about waking up and checking you were still live, and 18hours later tucking into bed and checking in with the stream. I think you shine when you're interacting with others, so perhaps there could be a way to include other streamers at times? Or just other regular people lol. I think the peak version of a subathon is having a Truman show style setup. A camera in every new room of the house, maybe two. That way we’re able to actually follow a person living their life instead of them just sitting at a chair for unreasonable amounts of time. It would also be much more dynamic to have some sort of portable stream deck that you could easily switch to the cameras as you switch rooms. It’s probably too expensive to produce something like that, but I think that is the future of 24/7 live steaming.

YES! I suggested something in my own comment but it would work perfect with yours… Why does a subathon have to be a constant 24/7 live? The appeal to me for subathons was just being able to assume someone was live. Not having to worry about schedules, inconsistent streamers, time zones and whatever, you can just tune into “THE PointCrow stream”, because of the 24/7 uptime. That’s honestly worth quite a lot.

Awesome idea! Pointcrow just did a subathon with a twist, every sub spun a wheel for a random amount of time added to the clock, with a small chance for a “legendary” roll that added 5 minutes to the clock. I thought it was a really cool idea that added some fun to the timer aspect.
You could also give time, say modcast hours, to the charities themselves/streamers partnered with those charities and they could do q&a or something

As a fan of your's, I'll admit that I've felt the same doubts you have about whether the subathon was draining money from your fans. Especially because not all, but some of the content was filling airtime. I'm really glad that you shared your feelings on it, because I think it means a lot that a content creator at least takes the time to deeply contemplate the ethics of being funding by viewers, regardless of what decisions you ultimately make. Thank you Ludwig, I've gained even more respect for you as a creator, and hope I can support you even more now :)

I think adding the elements of escape puzzles could be fun. Like "in order to end this subathon i have to solve a series of puzzles, beat this series of game, and solve the final riddle" Something where there is a natural progression and the next "challenge" to do / beat. Some good games are the classic jump king, polybridge?, Myst (hard classic puzzle game), elden ring / dark souls, beating melee all-star with all characters? Some cool puzzles are mechanical puzzles on amazon or online somewhere else (these are physical puzzles that you can passively do on stream). And the final riddle can be kinda like a treasure hunt or elaborate ending to the entire event (solve part 1 to get a long/lat, go there to find the next piece, etc) something like "the final adventure to end the stream"
You could add more abstract things like (break a WR, face a fear, reach a new personal best, etc.) this would give more variability and you can try different things for each category.

Do a subathon so that viewers can add time to the stream by contributing to the community. Viewers could go out and volunteer or do an activity that benefits their city. You could partner with an association that could verify viewer's participation and have each hour count as an amount of time added to the stream. Another way is you could also have viewers subscribe to a smaller streamer you pick each day or week and every sub they gain could add time as well. Just some ideas!

It basically cascades over time. Next at bat if you will. A collective. And this Cascade goes on till the timer hits zero on the last streamer and whichever streamer gets the most time picks a charity for whatever agreed percentage of the total money earned is. Your subathon inspired me to do a 30-day stream in January, subs added to the time, but it wasn’t about money or subs, it was about the time, streaming for 30 days was the best time I’ve had on this platform in the past 9 years, waking up and cracking straight into a conversation, I loved it.
(The stream actually ended up being 782 hours)
However I felt terrible at the end of it, since I didn’t achieve anything, I felt as if I hadn’t provided my viewers decent content for the time they were there.
As a result of that feeling, I planned another one for September, a month long stream, but this time with scheduled plans and an idea for content going in, such as involving fellow creators in my niche by having them as guests on a game show. The fact that I have a plan this time is already making me happy, as I’m just able to enjoy my time live with chat.

“Subathons are boring” - the reason I started watching Twitch was for that (kinda parasocial) sense of “community” in a stream. While I love curated content too, there is a huge value to just hanging out and laughing with chat. Subathons bring this vibe typically found with small streamers to the big ones. There is something special about your favorite streamer having one BIG event that makes you feel like you were part of channel history. It makes you feel rewarded for being dedicated to the channel.

You should consider a variety subathon. Do 1 week of stream but have the content change on a day to day basis. You stream when you wake up and until you go to sleep for all 7 days, but the subs translate into what you do. For example, on day one you could be *cycling* and have the distance be based on subs, and you can't break unless the subs break. Day 2 you could play games but have more chaos based on the amount of subs, etc. Have subs equal quality, not quantity.

I think this is a really cool idea, particularly when you mentioned Shia LaBeouf. If you remember back in 2016, Shia placed a flag in the middle of a random field. People then worked out where the flag was by looking at the time of sunset and the air-traffic over head. They reached the location and took it down. It was sort of like IRL geoguesser. (Admittedly, the people that did that had some unfortunate views) It would be cool if you did something similar on your stream where you had you and your mods set up flags at a static camera angle and viewers had to go get the flag IRL. If they could post a picture of them with the flag on your subreddit, they win a portion of the proceeds.

you could do something like logan paul with his 99 originals, or something more like 100-day challenges
Obviously, you wouldn't be going on for this long but having multiple clear defined goals throughout the substation would be super interesting to watch you further develop and grow throughout it.
    could be something like
    -learning calisthenics tricks (handstand, l-sit)
    -learning gymnastics stuff (backflip, carwheel)
-learning craft (drawing every day, sewing, embroidery)
also a bunch more stuff too, just thought this would keep it fun for us and you as well :)

Subathon roulette, each new sub adds time and also suggest a new activity. The top 20 (x number) activities go into a roulette at the beginning of the day and that is the thing you will do (go to the amusement park, visit x streamer, playthrough an entire game, etc). Depending on the type of activities you are willing to do, you can have a list with options or completely free for subs' ideas, but maybe with a reward/punishment system when you succesfully do it or fail. If an activity is done in that day and you have time, you spin the roulette again.

suggestion: subathon but you're camping and the subs extends the amount of time you have to do everything outdoors.

You could do a travel subathon. Go coast to coast in a month. Show everything you do and all the stops taken. You get a trip out of it and we get to see the country with you. Finally all the donations go to charity. Easy sponsorship so you don’t even have to pay for the trip 🔥

i think part of the appeal of the subathon was the coziness of it, and although content is all fun and good, the movie nights and the modcast and whatnot were what made it worth watching and sticking to for me.

i honestly really like the subathon style of streaming. yes it’s not as high level content, but knowing you can always tune in at any given time to a streamer, even if it’s just watching vghs gives you comfort. I didn’t feel like i lost out on good content when i couldn’t watch your subathon stream but i was always entertained while watching. not really helpful for your subathon 2 but just my 2 cents

Not sure of there details, but I watched tubos stream one day and he was was just living his life and camera angles would switch as he walked room from room. I think it would be cool to have a mix of that and jermas doll house stream where it feels like the viewers are flies on the wall as you do whatever. You would probably have to rent a space because of your roommates or you could have it more like a sitcom with them being the characters.

Could have a marbles vote at the end of each day to for the next days activities.
Keeping in mind having each one fully planned out before hand, permissions etc. Rockclimbing, sponanious day/ 2 day trip flying to meet up with x creator or see y landmark, city wide scavenger hunt (like a mini amazing race, having a set up crew always 1 stop ahead of you while doing challenges.), where/what to eat. (keeping in mind getting pre approval to stream, and having options broad enough that it makes sniping events harder.)
    or
I think it could also be cool just having collaborations planned throughout seeing if you can do things with the content creators that inspire you. With little mini charity events, making the overall subation a something for charity, but then providing an additional donations to the charities picked by the person you chose to collaborate with for that days stream.
    or
    GWL (Gaming With Ludwig)
GDQ but its anything but fast. Where you take us through games you might have found influential to your life. Or bringing in the last one, you pick a collaborator and you play their favorite game, them guiding you through discussing it and its influences on them. (Or yall just spitball podcast style during the playthrough like the grumps or oneyplays. Again donating that days or collabs money to the charity of their choosing.)
