It's interesting to see how you did method with the quilt sandwich. That's how I learned about 25 years ago pre-youtube! All we had back then were books to teach us! Or a class if you could find one and the work schedule allowed such. 😊 Thank you!
As a mom and a grandma, I can say that you made the best size of a baby quilt. It's a good size to be on for tummy time. More importantly, when the child is a toddler, it's perfect for nap time. I never understood those really small baby quilts that were pretty, but impractical. Also, I love that blue!
I'm absolutely team "press to the site", espacially with a block like the 4 patch seams can be nested easily. But as you said: do whatever works best for you. Instructions are more like suggestions for me 😂 Now proceeding with the video to see the quilt, it surely will be great! - indeed, it is just awesome. The darker blue for the big squares works really great as well. ❤
Great quilt. I think it's a happy accident that you ran out of the light blue because the word blocks look better and stand out more with the darker blue. It is perfect. I'm also making baby quilts this size for my new granddaughter. So much more practical and long lasting than infant size. I know they will love it.
I made all of my nieces and nephews quilts for Christmas a couple years ago. I then used a panel and scraps from all the quilts and made a "Nonna" quilt for my Sister in law. So all of her babies were represented and babies like to find their parts. Its not the prettiest quilt but its very cuddly and she can fit all the littles in for Movie night❤
Wow! The way you finished that quilt. The inside out....no binding Totally trying that. I am a new quilter. It took me 3 years to make my first quilt....why? You ask... because I took it alart over and over and over again...wish i would have took pictures of all the different quilts it was before it ended up the quilt it is. I made it for my father and i wanted it to be perfect...its far far from perfect. But i learned a lot.
Yea, an extra video. I like that the baby quilt is from the pieces of the parents' quilt. I like to make up my own quilts since I'm sewing with lots of scraps. Go innovation on the fly.
What a happy accident running out of the lighter blue fabric was, love the added interest the darker blue gave the written blocks. Great quilt! I am also cautious of spray basting and only use it for wall-hangings, craft items and such, but not for quilts.
I'm glad you ran out of the light blue strips - the darker blue certainly gives the extra *pop* that you wanted - great finish as always Dave ((hugs)) for the baby from England ❤🤍💙
Wow, a bonus episode. I didn't exect this. Wonderful - that two weeks between quilts an be long. Thank you Dave, I know this takes time out of your life.
I used polyester batting for my first baby quilt. I had no clue about quilting at all. 34 years later it's my lap rug. Fond memories and now an avid patchworker.
What a great surprise to see you've produced an extra video today. Beautiful baby quilt out of extra material from mom and dad's quilt. Love your extra explanations on how and why you do things. Many thanks for your videos.
As Always you nailed it! Love your quilts!! And as a quilter myself for many years, you inspire me to be like you! I'm a little bored with "fat quarters". I like to make quilts that no one else is making. And you never let me down, never boring! Please continue with your style of quilting!
I like the Korean theme. I've been there several times when I was in the Navy. I wasn't stationed there but I got the chance to visit. I was stationed in Japan, and later, I was on a ship in Guam. I miss Korean BBQ. It's is so good. I wish now that I had bought fabric when I was traveling around. Your quilt is nice and is a good way to use the fabric.
Dave you always make me chuckle- love your wit - oh and the baby quilt turned out fabulous. Like others thanks for spoiling us with a bonus video. I want you to snap your fingers for me on those blocks that go on and on. I’ll send you a note when needed. 😂
I love how you make quilts! Oh my goodness you must quilt every day- I am making one quilt right now and it is taking months. You are amazing for giving us a new quilt to watch every two weeks, and now a bonus one!
Haha I wish ! 😅 I work during the week so I only have time for my craft room on the weekends :-/ once in a while a quilt takes more than one weekend and that's why I publish every two weeks 😜
You did it again!! Baby will love it as will Mom and Dad! By the way, due to lung problems I always use curved safety pins to baste and have had no issues.
That is such a wonderful idea! The fabrics were so awesome, why not let the baby have a unique but similar quilt? Fabulous creativity as always, Dave!!! I know that they will love it!
Yahoooo bonus Davetime!!!! Great quilt, the darker blue pops, excellent Bob Ross “happy accident”! I still have some leftovers from a vacation fabric haul, might have to make a throw size with this idea for naptime!😉
The baby quilt turned out great! They are going to love it. P.S. You crack me up. I especially liked when you said “I’m going to cut a million of these and then count them”. I liked the background music too.
"Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds. We can do today what's meant for today and tomorrow we can do something else." I have never heard this hobgoblin analogy. Is this a Dave-ism? 🙂
@davescraftroom Apparently a household spirit from English folklore that is sometimes believed to be helpful but most often mischievous (according to Wikipedia). This saying is going into my arsenal of witty retorts.
Question Dave: How is there more bulk if you iron your seams to the side? If you press the seams open, there are 2 seams allowance layers on each side. If you press to the side, nestle the seams, you have 2 layers of seam allowance on each side. Guess the only way it would be bulky is if you don't nestle them. Both quilts are Davetastic in any case!!😊
if you iron it to the side you would have 3 layers on one side, and then if you ever have to fold that seam over at any point that would be 6 layers 😜👨🏻
That’s an awesome quilt! I was skeptical about the second color of blue, but as usual, you knew best and it was a most excellent solution. Pus the tie died fabric just nailed it for the backing! …. And is it possible that you would share the name of the music you played in this and last week’s videos? Pretty please?l
@@davescraftroom thank you a million times! Your sound tracks always add to the quilts you’re working on. For me there’s music in the art so it’s all of a thing.
Hey @DavesCraftRoom I’ve been following you forever!! I’m hunting for the video of the quilt you made with the 365 quilt blocks book…could you please help me find it?!?! I bought the book because of that video

This is a simple quilt even I could do!!! However, I would not be able to Davitize it as you do! thanks for posting a bonus quilt video!🍀💐🐣
