- This time UnEarthed takes a step back to the very start of production, Before I was officially shooting for Earthed I was working for Orange MTB at the World champs in 2002, after that race in Kaprun, Austria the circus traveled to Les Gets, France for the final round of the DH world cup series. Whilst waiting for practice to start, I killed some time shooting some extra stuff for Orange, with riders here like Marc Beaumont, Dave McLaughlin and Luke Strom. Then other riders joined in the session, like Dan and Gee Atherton, Justin Havukainen and Sam Hill. We can also see Rowan Sorrell Bike park Wales co founder. Sam had won his first junior world championship the week before this footage was taken, stay tuned for more classic clips.

Awesome post, thank you 🙏🏻 God I miss those fun days of the late 90s & early 2000s, MTB DH racing just seemed better than today’s scene…maybe it’s just me 🤷🏻♂️
Golden era. Great to see some more footage. Thank you!
This is pure gold...thank you so much for sharing Alex...LOVE watching these old videos again.
I am literally here for “This”. Earthed is my dyed and true. I burned up all my DVDs, they no longer work. Earthed is the greatest series ever, there will be nothing ever like it.
Man...I love these. Earthed soundtrack bits and pieces are trickling into my head as I watch.
The bit with the cowbells is classy AF
This is gold Alex 👌
1100mm wheelbase, 2 piston brakes, 650mm handlebars, 26" wheels, slapping chains.... We really have it good these days, but they seem to be having a damn good time!
this is actually pleney in morzine!
Yes you’re so right, not very local with my knowledge am I😅 it was all just Les gets to me because that where the race was and I just followed the lads around with my head in the clouds.
Gee looks like a circus bear on one of those tiny wee bikes :D
Ha yeah, The muddy fox was a very odd shape anyway
Long live Rankin !
Sam Hill was better in 2002 than most of us will ever be!
You can see it in this, each shot was his only take, so dialled.
Crazy how things have moved on and yet a lot of this track is still very similar today
2:40 young G going hard
Is that Luke strom at 1.50 ? Nowhere
funny to see how pleney black is still mostly the same
