Ohh that's a good point.. At my parts store, the rebuild kit is $22, the entire lift pump assembly is $26. Think I'll just buy the thing instead 😄 Thanks for pointing it out ❤️
That's the lift pump to get fuel to the main high pressure pump. That lever runs on an eccentric lobe, sometimes off the cam or such. It creates a pumping action thus lifting the fuel to the main pump. Edit. Finished the video. You figured it out.
Those Massey 165s are notorious for oil leaks. I have one and use it sparingly because of this. Believe me, I have bought so many seal kits for it just to chase another leak. When running, it is a good tractor. I must say, I love your chain setup on the tires.
Seen your videos. I have a Massey 65 diesel 1963. I've got fuel leaks i need to fix 😢. I've done alot to this little jewel just a little more TLC and she'll be completely restored. Thanks for your videos, those 4x4 165 are museum pieces over here in US.
Well done. Sometimes repairs on older vehicles and equipment shows a different weak or worn part of the system as each is repaired. Appreciate you sharing your challenges and solutions. By the way, those were compression bands that get crimped into shape when tightened in place forming a perfect shaped seal band. You are correct, they really aren't intended on more than 1 use.
Grew up on those 135 and 165 in the US. Wish we have had front wheel assist in the US. Some of the best smaller tractors ever built. I guess that's why some of the new Masseys are real similar to the older models.
As usual, excellent diagnosing and farm craft repairs. While the 165 may have some age related repairs, it owes you nothing and it is probably more reliable than newer stuff
You're definitely right about that. I love the old mf, even if it gives me a few headaches from time to time, and I might throw the occasional swear at it 🤬 But If nothing else, at least it makes for some youtube content 😄 Thanks for the comment! ❤️
For operation in the freezing temperatures in Norway I recommend installing a glow plug on the air intake pipe, it makes the cold start much smoother. It works very well on our MF35.
It actually has one of those, but I'm quite confident that it doesn't work. Maybe I'll make a video about repairing it 🤔 Thanks for the suggestion, and for watching ❤️
You shud use the key pre-heater for 10sec before you try to start it. It will make starting it a lot easier in cold weather.thats why there's a heater plug on it..
Good idea that, but I'm pretty certain the glow plug doesn't work. I'll check it out though, see if I can't repair or replace it in the future. Thanks for the comment!❤️
I love your channel and find you interesting. I know you're in Finland but your accent or maybe lack of accent from my American perspective is what puzzles me. Also your use of terms and phrases that I recognize as familiar prompted me to look up one of them. You used the phrase "jerry-rigged" or maybe "jury-rigged". Here is what I found: adjective. Britannica Dictionary definition of JERRY-RIGGED. chiefly US. : made in a quick or careless way . So where you "edumacated" in the US? I also hear a slight British influence and the use of terms like "proper". Am I close?
Thank you for the kind words! I am 100% Norwegian and I have traveled outside of Scandinavia exactly 3 times. Never been to the US or Britain, although I certainly would like to someday. I have watched many hours of UA-cam in my life and picked up on many terms from there. Also, I have always been very peculiar about the way I talk, I try to speak in a manner/accent that people can stand listening to. Also, I always liked the English language and have learned to separate UK and US both in accent and writing. Like using a capital i whenever you type something about yourself, and the word color/colour. I find it easier to have my sentences flow in a more British accent, because I have a hard time with R's in most US accents that I know of. The brits oftentimes skip the R entirely in sentences.. So, in short, I speak with a somewhat "British accent" because it's easier. I know English decently well because I've been watching/reading/talking the language since I was about 12 years old. Hope this answered your question! Thanks for the nice comment! ❤️
These old tractors are really a pain in the ass sometimes hahaha My IH has coolant leaking into the oil, I'm scared it comes from the liners O-ring 😐. But i won't open the engine until it stops freezing outside unlike you ;)
Agreed! It's probably a good idea to wait for warmer weather. That's a pretty big job you've got waiting 🙂 When I started this repair, I didn't expect it to become such a massive pain. But I guess I should've known better 😂
I am not sure, sorry. It's in a paid subscription service, and I don't pay attention to the titles when importing them for editing. But you should be able to find the names by using soundhound (or aimilar) on your phone.
How come no woodstove in shop for when it gets that cold? You must of been thinking of US folks when you list temp in F, all others in Euro world dont do that, they list temp in C, then I have to go to google and translate it to F, so for your extradentary effort I'll buy you a coffee>> AKA Baptist gasoline......
That's a very good question, I've thought about it many times. I will probably install one in the future, I'm just not sure where to place it, and also what to do with the chimney. Haha, yes, I like to convert stuff when I remember to! I'm glad my efforts are noticed 😄 Baptist gasoline 🤣 Thank you so much, you're too kind ❤️
Best to get a rebuild kit for that pump, as if the Diaphragm fails all the diesel from the tank ends up in the oil pan / sump. :-(

Yeah my IQ was redlining for a moment there, haha. I appreciate your detailed clarification, thanks for the comment ❤️
@@woodlandwrench it's the cold! Brain freeze.

Yep, I think they were leaking fluids from the factory 🤣 Thanks for the comment ❤️
You should put a new lift pump, that membrane can crack and leak diesel inside the engine, lifting the oil level an making damage
That's something I hadn't thought about.. I'll order a new one. Thanks for pointing this out ❤️

Oh nice, a good old 65 in working order would be fun to see. There's not a lot of those in my country. Good luck on your project ❤️

Thanks for the clarification and sharing your knowledge, I appreciate it. And thanks for the comment and kind words! ❤️

That's awesome 👌 Yeah, the front assist can often be the little extra you need, I'm glad it has it. Thanks for the comment! ❤️

Did that building use to be a milk parlor? Thats how our milk barns were made long ago. Love seeing the repair vids buddy!
Interesting. The shop was previously for horses. A free access stable i guess you'd call it, maybe? Thanks for the comment and kind words ❤️
Well done! I would have given up after leak number 2 🤣🤣
Trust me, I wanted to 😂 Thanks for the comment! ❤️

Great temporary fix. Will get you buy .
Let's hope so! Thanks for the comment ❤️
