I broke my ankle and went to a physiotherapist. She is incredible. She also gave chiropractic sessions and i took one. I think, muscle stiffness and joint immobility can be temporarily made better! She refused to work on my neck and I am happy with her decision. She never told that this will solve anything miraculously but as my ankle was damaged for some time then, my gait was affected. Which was solved in the session. And damn it feels good and all the muscle tension goes away! It can become addictive but I didn't go for such therapy again. A good sleep can loosen up your muscle as well. The more F***ed up your basic day to day routine is, the more you'll need such sessions.. Physiotherapy, Massage or Chiropractic sessions!!

But it sure comes with lots of contraindications where it shouldn't be used and still risk and reward ratio is not that good... Something being a "common practice" doesn't make it legitimate. Doesn't matter where it was practiced or who practiced it.
There is no evidence that it works, then why do you believe it does?

I recently had a 8 week long chiropractic sessions. I am an IT professional for the last 13years and that stress on your spinal column builds up. I have had Physiotherapy sessions and even consulted orthopaedic surgeons. I wanted to give chiropractors a shot, and I was skeptical to be honest but curious. Here are my 2 cents.
1/ I am not taking names, but I went to highly rated chiropractor in Bangalore. For a mere 15 min session they charge whopping 4000 rupees. Not cheap by any means. I go to gym, do treks and generally a fit person, but I do suffer from back and neck issues. So they recommended a corrective treatment and didn’t need a rehabilitation procedures.
2/ Although they claimed I have a good health, they kept pushing me to book more sessions. I didn’t as I wasn’t seeing any long term improvement. My neck will feel temporary relief but similarly stressed by the next 7 days. I realised it was due to poor posture and the relief was just going to be temporary if I don’t fix the posture.
I focused on neck strengthening/stretching exercises recommended by physiotherapists and take frequent breaks between work. It works better.
I won’t say it is a scam but it certainly isn’t long term and not fixing the core issues. I am not going back and would rather invest the same amount to book 20 physio sessions which would have a better back/neck health in the long run. Or rather stick to a neuro or orthodox physician and rely on their advice.

in 2017- 2019 I had a regular back pain because of herniated discs L4 L5 and rhomboid pain. I was regularly bed ridden 2-3 times for 30-40 days at a stretch within those 3 years. It was so depressing and pain ful time for me, when all options were tried and there was no result then one of our family friends suggested us chiropractic treatment. I was was very skeptical while listening to the procedure that they will crack by back, and I will get better from it, I was so scared even thinking that I will have to get my back adjusted that my pain may get worse.

I am 66 year old spine problem patient. In the year 2013 I had a laparoscopy surgery done at L3,L4,L5 by a famour spine surgeon. After 3 years later again sciatica pain started my left leg severe pain from hip n numbness at feet. A friend suggest me to a chiropractor. 3 weeks session daily 300 rupees. I feel happy with joints n spine cracklings during that session, but my problem not solved. Again consulted spine specialist he suggested physiotherapy for 3 months n suggested only sos pain killer ointment n tabs. 2021 my spine L3,4,5 n S1 discs badly slipped n I felt unbarable pain even i cannot stant n sit. Immediately Doctor at Hyderabad advised Fusion surgery n next day surgery done. There he used Titanium rods n cages used to set right my spine. Now I am good but not doing hard works, no long drives,no long walks , you know now I am 66 years old.

Chiropractic treatment is not cheap but i went for it as i didn't want my body to be put under a knife. Too be honest i wasn't expecting a miracle with the chiropractic treatment. However to my surprise i can now hit the gym, do deadlifts and all back exercises without any issues. Not sure about the doctors that post sleazy videos on UA-cam, but It has helped me.

It's very common that whenever healthcare industry find threat to their business by some traditional practices, they always bring up a theory to prove them wrong. But, the scams, medical errors, unnecessary medications where actually not necessary, sometimes even unnecessary surgeries have take life of many. But such facts are mostly beyond curtained unfortunately.

Its a science of releasing any entrapped nerve, rebalancing the vertebral stature. Being a doctor i can say that if used precisely, it does wonder. Gonsted Chiropractic method is the only one i trust. But sadly in India we dont have any qualified practitioner. Infact i tried enrolling in Gonsted Chiropractic course, but couldn't meet the qualifications (after being mbbs graduate).
Its sad to see in india its practiced as any other massage parlour. The adjustment should me made precisely on the defective joint space, not all over the spine. Its not regulated nor comes under NMC.
Here its consumed as an ASMR video.

I am direct witness of effectiveness of this line of treatment. I can't vouch about the history and theory of chiropractic practices but my wife who has a back issues which was very painful, where she had reached a state where she was unable to walk and was literally crawling. I had consulted top nuerosurgeons, rhuemotologists, orthopaedics but they could provide no solution to my wife's issues. She was manipulated in front of me by a chiropactor. A person who could not walk after a simple manipulation of back just walked out calmly. She neede the adjustment three times but now she is ok. It does provide solutions to certain cases and can benefit some people.

I have never visited any professional chiropractic practitioner but i have met many locals who do the same thing.
I have been a frequent patient of ankle sprain since my childhood and i have seen that a sprain that usually take few weeks to be cured can be cued in just 2 to 3 days if you get it adjusted the same day of its occurance. so i think it is not completely trash.

    1) Chiropractor is done systematically in the west.
2)In India it is done by local or payalwans to certain extent
    3) Cannot dismiss the practice.
    4) Very dangerous if done by unknown persons.
    5) Y- Strap is really a unwanted Risk.
    6) Definitely releives some of the pains.
    7) As seen in the video the one Japan/Chinese based person seems to be an expert. Even Indians have gone to him and are happy.
    8) One with Frozen shoulders and neck pain are dramatically solved by him.
These are my observations, this cannot be dismissed but to be careful.

As many comments also say this, many chiropractors do help patient get rid of their body pains, its not correct to portray it as an inefficient practice. None of the chiropractors I met claimed that they can fix everything. Having said that be careful and don't get into trap of some practitioners who will try to convince you to visit them monthly or weekly, that is not needed and a good practitioner never ask for it unless there is really a major issue which you will know, don't trust a practitioner infinitely, if you don't see benefit within 1-2 visits, change the chiropractor.

I have benefited from chiropractic treatment in the past, and I can say that it is definitely helpful for a time when you cannot even move due to pain and even the pain killers and muscle relaxers give a temporary relief. But I agree that you should slowly start exercising and Exercise is the only cure for all pain in long run. So chiropractor is not for regular visits but it is good for severe pains if you choose the right person who also helps you with appropriate exercises along with treatment.

It can help with cervical pain as this manipulation helps in releasing the pressure, apart from that it depends on the exercises prescribed by PT.
