  • Capt Harsha Vardhan is with the Indian Navy, and with his demanding job, he keeps the passion of running. Through the discussion in this conversation, he also teaches life lessons through the lens of long distance running.
He has been an avid sportsman since his childhood and so running was not new to him. But, running is one thing and doing really well is another. He not only runs but runs really well. You can see it from his running credentials: from being a half marathoner of 1:48, he went on to become a sub3 marathoner. He had a set a target of becoming a sub3 marathoner and he has repeatedly achieved it in the last couple of years. In Apr 2024, he also ran the prestigious Boston Marathon and finished the race in impressive 2hrs and 54 minutes. He has achieved the similar feat in Tata Mumbai Marathon as well.
Capt Harsha Vardhan has also tried to run ultra distances and done very well there too - winning the 12 hours stadium run, doing Comrades run equivalent distance (90kms) in his apartment, setting the course record at the Matheran Endurance event and many more.
This conversation digs deeper into what it takes to excel in a sport that requires years of relentless training if not of decades. He also recommends a couple of books that everyone should read to grow the appreciation of running that it deserves and also learn from these.
I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I enjoyed speaking with him.

A very inspiring journey discussed by Capt. Harsha... be it academics sports or his dedicated profession. The best take away from your conversation is
'TIME MANAGEMENT'.... where most of us fail to strike a balance , especially ME😢.
I personally feel running or taking up any sport for that matter , eventually results in making one a happier and a better human being , as one discovers hidden potential and evolves in the process .
Beautiful tips shared for the marathoners including the two books recommended by you .
Deepest gratitude for your insightful share . 🙏
It was a pleasure hearing pearls of wisdom from you.
Much sunshine , joy and infinite injury free miles .
    God bless!
    Regards
    Blossom
