Zuko walking through the middle of his crew lined up reminds of when king Viserys walked to his throne to help his daughter in house of the dragon, they felt the most like royalty at their lowest points.
1 of the few things I can say the Netflix series did better than the original Nickelodeon series was expanding upon Ozai & Iroh's relationship as brothers. In the original series they never are on screen together, but here there are multiple times they interact with each other, which adds more to their backstories & character developments. Also, having the 41st Division be Zuko's crew was a nice detail that I'm glad they included.

The fact that you didn't know about who was under the blue mask and how Zuko got the scar has me glad to see a reaction to someone who hasn't seen the animated series. The 41 division crew reveal wasn't in the cartoon but its such a fantastic twist that i love so much.
I also loved that little addition to the story. They didn't know how close they were to being sacrificial lambs Frfr 💯

I really enjoy watching your reactions since it’s from the perspective of someone who hasn’t seen the show. It’s fun to watch you discover things like Zuko’s backstory which was really well done in this episode. Dallas is amazing as Zuko. I can’t believe I never made the connection between the Avatar and the Doctor.
Despite it is not in the OG show that Koh interacted with other Avatars besides Kuruk, I like they added that detail so that Aang could meet Roku. Especially because it also allows to insert more about Koh. The truth is Koh's separation from his mother is the reason why he steals faces. The Mother of Faces has scrafted every single face that exists. So, by stealing one's face, Koh is trying to get closer to her.

There are some additions I didn’t care for in the show, but everything involving Zuko’s origin enriched it for the better.
Iroh steps up here to stop the fight where as the animated series he just looked away. By this time in the show zhao and Zuko had had their Agni Kai
Seconding other comments in that it's great to see this show from the perspective of someone who hasn't seen the original. I'm satisfied that as newcomers you enjoy as much as I and others who loved the original 2 decades ago.

The scene with the ladders happens in the animated series. Actually, the whole escape scene is in the animated series.

If there is no season 2 for this version, you guys should watch the animated series. I want to see what you Robert thinks of the way the characters evolve through the first three books.
We definitely will cover the animated series eventually. At the very least Robert can cover the first season. Until season two of the live action comes out. If it never comes, then we'll just go through the entire animated series.
This guy plays zhao a lot more subtly not so angry and over the top. I think that they will do away with the jeong jeong episode because a key element of that episode was zhaos anger. We see a lot more of Zukos backstory. He put up a bigger fight here some dodges punches and could even maybe landed a clean hit on his dad where as in the series he just bowed and got burned
While it’s not the same Zhao, I think this one still works. As stated, the animated zhao was more of a menace while this one seems more like a snake
bro, I agree, but at the same time, you can clearly see Zuko is getting on Zhao's fcking nerves and he is getting built up, Jeong Jeong might happen, but I don't know I havent finished the show yet lol.

Jeong Jeong is one of my favorite non-main characters in the whole animated series. For such little screen time, he demonstrated he is a true master and a bada**! I hope they keep him for future seasons.

Roku never interacted with Koh that was only kuruk. Roku also sound a lot more joyful here. We don’t get the mother of faces until the comics. June comes to the fire sage temple here in the show she found aang and company at the perfume spot. June is flirting a lot more with iroh here.
I think they changed it the other way around with the flirting between June and Iroh, in the original show it was Iroh who was flirting with June a bit, but it probably wouldn’t have been a good look for Iroh in these times so I kinda get why they changed it

i higly doubt there was never an interaction between koh and roku. sure it may not be talked about as key lore but odds are several avatars have encountered koh. kuruk just has the most commonly known history with koh.
