@Oecleus No he didn't. It's a draw. Magnus's rook is pinned, so the only way to save the game for him is to give perpetual with the queen: 1. Qg6 Kg8 (Kh8 does not change anything) 2. Qe8 Kh7 etc. Besides, immediately after the game, the arbiter asks Nepomniachtchi (in Russian): draw? And Nepomniachtchi answers draw.
Carlson missed the move 1. Qg6 (Queen can't take queen coz then black will loose Rook) Kh8/g8 then 2.Qe6 and after Kh7 again Qg6. after 03 repeats match will be draw. or Black can take chance of taking white queen at e6 and hope that white runs out of time before white can trap black king.
When Carlsen was thinking at around the 4:14 mark, why didn't he play Bxh6? 1. Bxh6 gxh6 2. Qxh6 Qxf5 3.Rf1 Qg5 4. Qh7+ Kf8 5. Rh6 Nd7 6. Rg6 Black loses his queen. I also have another line with 1.Bxh6 Kf8. It is a lot longer, but it should be advantageous for white.
@aleramoneroo 1.Qg6+ Kg8 2.Re8+ is illegal, as White's Rook on e5 is pinned to the King by Black's Queen on d6 (moving the R to e8 would place White's own King in check, and is therefore not a legal move).
i cant say anything cuz he's GM but seriously Carlsen shud have had his hands out there ready to snap to move. This is not acceptable for blitz chess to casually move pieces
this isnt drw because if now in the finl position the white gives a check in g6 after Qxg6 then Hxg6 check and the white wins the black rook .carlsen win this game
If any one thinks nepomniachtchi won, Qg6+ Kh7 Qe8+ perpetual check if Queen takes on g6, white takes back with pawn check and white wins rook. And anyways did you notice how nepomniachtchi shoke his head after the game? If you win a game you wouldn't do that.
he wouldn't be able to catch the pawns line (7th line) because after check Kg8, then they would exchange queens like you said, then let's say Re8+ and Kf7 threatening the rook = rook can't threat pawns in next move.
I may not be seeing the board correctly, but if Qg6+, then QxQ, f5xg6+, forcing Kxg6, allowing for nothing more than a Draw (though I'm awful, so...), unless after the forced Kxg6 (and I suppose by 'taking the Rook,' you meant this line), Re5xRd5, which makes it hard to understand why they Drew, but I don't know - if anyone does, I'd love to read why. Thanks
Gm magnus did not resign its a draw think wisely
Draw

THIS. IS. THE.DRAW. Just analyze if you want not to look stupid
Can you be more specific with the way he can do this ? Because if he does not accept the perpetual check he loses ... So were is your magic rabit ?
1.Qg6+ Kg8 (2.Qe8+ Kh7 start position) 2.Qxd6 Rxd6 draw.
It' a draw because they have the same number and the same type pieces and because they are pro they can make a draw.
After every game they always get up and leave so quick. Like they have to go somewhere all of a sudden.
why did Ian Nepomniachtchi accept the draw while he can actually win the game ???
The game was a draw (round 18). At first, I thought that Carlsen had resigned!!
how the hell are you supposed to know if it was a draw or resign?
!!!
lol
@aixelsyd82 ok.. I thought carlsen's rook was hanging. nevermind:)
me to ,but i simulated the game on chess engine and is a draw
i really dont like Carlsen blitz games. They are boring to me
ah nono the rook is knock in m if its is draw i didnt see it
D xg6 ,rg8 the white follows te8 and mate or losed the queen
even if that's true, magnus wouldn't make the exchange then.
you'd love to see them kiss and make out, wouldn't you
@linktruman23 The game is draw, no one loses... xd
Qx instead of Rx would have secured a drawing end game
what a blunder!! having the rook pinned that way...
@Crabitat Black Queen on ~d6~ I mean, of course
@luckystrke Not a blunder. It was a draw.
ITS A DRAW QG6 KH8 OR KG8 THEN QE8
Why Carlsen don't move qg6 xq?
i think he underestimated him
4:27 can't Magnus sacrifice his black squared bishop (take pawn h6) in order to make an aggressive attack ?
@PawnBACM his rook is pinned
Sicilian Defense vs King Gambit
U r absolutely right :))
that final position is draw
he wouldn't be able to catch the pawns line (7th line) because after check Kg8, then they would exchange queens like you said, then let's say Re8+ and Kf7 threatening the rook = rook can't threat pawns in next move.
здесь ничья ?
ouch, bad blunder
who won?
Good game
they have to pee
2.-Qg7!
raft
7:49-Ян Непомнящий,сказал ничья
this is winning for magnus if he plays Qg6 + and then take the rook or even simply draw after rook takes rook !! i don't know why he resigned
it's funny that you're thinking that you're smarter than world champion on chess Magnus Carlsen.
No but if u see this u will see it correct
علي خالد it's a draw
not resigned

Nep gives Carlsen a hard time.
