I believe that sentence is what best demonstrates Dante's character arc and path to redemption. Rather than deny he would consider this option, he makes the choice NOT TO instead, because he was an awful sinner who would easily be tempted by the allure of power. He knows he would probably fall for the offer, but because he's become aware of his flaws, in the process overcoming the sin of pride which Lucifer is best known for ironically, he has the force of will and presence of mind to turn away from the temptation.
What Lucifer is actually known for, is his laziness. Remember the last sin of the seven deadly sins: Sloth.

Kratos shows Danté his blood soaked blades, the old devil lies bawling on the ground his severed member flopping about like a fish out of water, but nobody's laughing, not even Kratos.

KRATOS: (Patting Danté's back) "Attaboy Danté, let it all out before we leave for Valhalla. You got relatives there who would KILL to meet you!"
Later on, Danté & Kratos are doing a drinking challenge against Thor & Odin, it ends in a draw. Danté feels uncomfortable being in the hall, Odin picks him up in a bear hug & says;
ODIN: "GIVE OVER! We had Archangel Michael & China's Sun Wukong over last week. They had no discomfort, in fact, you should have seen the wrestling match my boy Thor & Sunny took part in. HA! HA! HA! WHAT A BRAWL!"
This entire boss fight is Dante giving Lucifer a circumcision using a scythe

I love that the game highlighted Lucifers rage over man being made in the image of God. For someone ruled by pride like Lucifer is, such a thing would’ve been maddening beyond comprehension. It’s an intimacy with God that no angel possesses. In this, man is superior to angel kind, and this is utterly abhorrent in Lucifers eyes.

Agreed, Lucifer's voice acting is absolutely brilliant and has alot of range. I love how we see his Different emotions and phases. It makes him feel more genuine. Every voice actor did an amazing job with the characters in the game and made the story and game very worthwhile. The whole cast of voice actors did an amazing and brilliant job.
You gotta hand it to the voice actor. Definitely got it right.

The Hack n Slash era at its finest. I remembered going from God of War 2 into Darksiders into Dante’s Inferno into Bayonetta into Castelvania within a few years. Such great times.
That era made hack n slash genre my favorite. Wish we get more modernized approach to that game.

This game still holds up! The combos and attack animations are still my favorite of any GOW style hack and slash game.
Dante has one of the best, if not the best battle cry in the entire gaming.

1) In hell we meet historical figures (popes, inhabitants of Florence or even Muhammad himself) and a description of what they did.
2) The plot of the siege of Accra during the 3rd crusade.

While I cant agree with everything he did do, one aspect I whole heartedly would tell god too. You cant compel love. Love should be freely given, if its compelled that means its not true and therefore I would not want it.

I think that is a reference to the Islamic belief that God ordered Satan to bow to Adam. He refused and was sent down to hell (Jahannan).

It's been a while since I've played but I'm pretty sure it's partly to do with him absolving literally everything in the game so he has no scythe upgrades, the cross would probably do more damage because he has more levels in absolution
This is even tortorous on a harder level, not only is his health bar longer but his damage can take half of your health.
I played this on the PSP ages ago because we couldn’t afford a console at the time. I think I labeled this game in my head as “God of War but Biblical”. My parents are ridiculously religious so I would play this alone at night to hide it, scaring myself in the process 😂 I love this game. The visuals were amazing.
Speaking of God of War, I can easily picture Danté as Kratos' descendant.

This game was truly epic. How surreal was it to be fighting Satan himself at the end.
Cuphead can also let you kick Satan's ass to the point of making him cry.
This isn't the only game where you fight the true King of Evil. In a Castlevania game you fight him as DRACULA OF ALL BEINGS! I doubt that it will be the last you hear of old Nick in any game in years to come.

They tried to make a sequel but it got cancelled. However, I think that it wouldn't have made the grade, but I do think a spin-off game would have been possible if they thought of one. This is what I mean, you play the part of someone who found himself/herself in a similar predicament, this pc would team up with other souls from different eras in a quest for vengeance against Old Scratch here.

Probably the most annoying are the shockwaves that have more than one wave coming at you, resulting in you getting hit somehow even if you clear one of them, or those that hit you and knock you back far enough where you nearly fall off a cliff or something.

Its a great game. Excellent story and easy platinum.
Some of the trials of St Lucia were pretty tough to get the platinum.

I've never played this game but always admired how shamelessly hacky it is. Like, Lucifer is so powerful he was able to put up enough of a fight against God his rebellion could be called a "war", but that doesn't stop him from being a totally generic "disembodied torso that slowly punches you in front of a circular arena" final boss.
Behind all the fanfare, Lucifer is an egotistical brat throwing a temper tantrum.
It honestly works though. Even in the original poem Lucifer is said to basically be sad, pathetic, and stupid lol
The giant behemoth is meant to be a casing bound to a single place for eternity, that's why his small form is much more complicated to fight
Actually, even that was based on the original poem: he really was frozen up to his waist in ice in Dante's Divine Comedy.

Satan would be frozen up to his torso in paid DLC for each stage of the fight that requires a 500 MB day one patch to "prevent" the PLA from stealing your credit card info
