Yeah, sandals in the lab... really cool. I used to work in different lab environments and they literally had signs up reminding what a terrible idea it would be to wear sandals in the lab. They had pictures of feet in sandals with chemical burns. Really cool...

That piano music in the lab montage is the first time I've ever recognized a piece of music by the musician's style of playing. When it was going on I was almost certain it was the work of Vince Guaraldi (author of the Peanuts music) and after looking it up I was correct.

Rewatching these and saw this comment, they had the entire story outlined by Season 2, they've gone on record saying they knew how long it would be in terms of seasons and knew the outcome they wanted for the ending. So yeah that might actually be a foreshadowing.

I see this and the next episode as pivotal. This one is the setup to all that happens in the next, 'One Minute' which has one of the most intense scenes in the entire series. Also, meeting Gale has a series of consequences that go all the way to season 5. From here, the show goes from great to game changer. The destruction of the RV is symbolical. This is the moment we see the end of the 'meth business'. From now on, we will see the birth and rise of the 'empire business'. Also, is important to note that everything that happens between One Minute (the next episode) and the season's finale is the detonator to the unforgettable rollercoaster of emotions that season 4 (arguably the best season) is. I can't wait.
I remember how tense I felt when I first watched this episode ("How the hell are they gonna get out of THIS?"). But then again....this is Heisenberg we're talking about here. I love watching your reactions to this show, keep up the great content!

The actors are actually never physically opposite each other in that scene because the secene was actually recorded in split screen.
Originally the creators wanted Walt and Gale to make moves in between cooking instead of "sitting down" and play together during a short break. But they reconsidered so they put the shots together so it looks like Walt and Gale are playing at the same time.
And you can actually still see that in the scene. Because Walt's side of the scene keeps jump cutting, but Gale's is just one take🙂.

It wasnt actually foreshadowing; Vince had stated multiple times that they had no clue how the show would end even throughout the fifth season; they did the whole New Hampshire cold open stuff and had to come up with a reasoning for it in the fly.
So, unintentional foreshadowing, I guess...

It wasn't intended at the time but when they wrote later seasons, they would look to imagery and ideas they'd already brought up as well as fan predictions and use those to plan future events. Calling it unintentional makes it sound accidental when it was done on purpose, just in the future.

It honestly wasn’t even Jesses fault, if Walt just explained the situation to Badger better, or told Jesse what was going in some way then it would have never happened. Although I guess Walt had no sure fire way of letting Jesse know, but he could have sent Badger to distract him or secretly tell him or something (like with a note). Instead, he was being an asshole and underestimating Jesse (and Jesse would have never started using the RV again if he didn’t fuck him over because of his own pride being hurt)
