We had this one time in middle school where the vice principal watched us and us 8th graders attempted to teach the 7th graders how to play a song that had a repeat in it we weren't successful but we tried.
This no joke happened to me once, it was someone in my class’ birthday and the parent was there handing out cupcakes and the principal just asked if she could watch the class-

In our class, there’s this thing called split class. It means when a group of students go to a different class in the grade, and they just do their own work.
This literally happened to my mom for an hour at my school. The teacher had an emergency to take care of and my mom just happened to be there. Luckily it was a really small school and she basically knew everyone already.
when this happened to me last year i had the meanest vice principal sub. she was actually really nice and we got along. she sadly retired from my school last year. it was my first year there…
Because of the county’s shortage of subs, they would gather 3-7 classes in the auditorium or cafeteria and have a janitor sit there and make sure we didn’t do anything stupid
When this happened, we just got split into different classrooms and and the vice principal would come and give us work and will take like a workbooks to the classroom and just like basically have fun all day and no one would actually do the work
That sucks when school does that. Like what work and the person doesn't know what to do? At that point just leave the class and do what you want without disturbing the other classes also making sure they don't know

Our principal came in, explained the issue, took the teachers notes that we were supposed to write down for the day and put them up on the overhead and had us copy it all down. Once we finished that, he told us what our homework was and had us work on that in the time we had left in class. We didn't go nuts, we didn't freak out, we quietly did our work while the principal just sat there working on his own paperwork, looking up occasionally to check on us. Easy. To be fair, my high school principal was a pretty chill guy that actually like kids.
this is giving flashbacks to when both jrotc instructors left the school during the summer and they still couldnt find new instructors by the time school came back so the first day there a sub was like 30 minutes late
We have a system in the Netherlands for this, called dividing under (onderverdelen), is why classes have more tables and seats than students. Every student gets designated a classroom at the beginning of the ready, if your class for whatever reason is cancelled, you report to that classroom's teacher for that period, sit in their classroom doing whatever, get their signature that you didn't skip class or was a piece of shit, hand in that list of signatures at the end of semester to your mentor, and done. The lesson's content gets comped or revisited later.
mannnnnn our little innocent minds didn’t know what it meant when a teacher wasn’t there. My teachers rarely called out. Now that I’m an adult I have soooooo much respect for teachers! They were always at work & that shows real dedication and resilience, 💪🏽
My (amazing) track coach was fired (unfairly) and they didn’t even have a substitute or anyone to replace him. For a week we just went to track without a coach and basically did what our coach had us do before he was fired whenever we had a substitute (which was run the curves of the track and walk the straights)
For my high school, whenever we didn't have a substitute when a teacher called out they just split the absent teacher's class out into other classrooms during each period
She just shoved a random old man and shoved him into the classroom while calling people on a TABLET
