  • A study after Sargent's portrait of John Ridgely Carter. This portrait interested me because of the range of skin tones that create the forms of the head. I wasn't quite able to get the effect but it was fun trying to search for all the various hues in the original. Thanks for watching and please subscribe and share if you enjoyed the video.

This was incredibly helpful, I wish there had been a voice with it, describing the procedure. I have been a soldier for 30 years, now disabled from combat, along with my 31-year professions of Art Therapy and teaching public school art. I have always needed extra help in my paintings, struggling to work with colors and values since I am color-blind. My redgreen range color-blindness has always caused me problems. Thank you for your incredible teaching videos,

Actually Sargent did not accept that he was impressionist, but to tell the truth he was a magician.

    It would be incredible.

Your color mixing skills are top notch. This would be really difficult to impossible to pull off without them. I have a long way to go to get to that level of color mixing ability. Right now, I'm getting fairly comfortable with the Zorn palette. Keeping it simple for now. Kudos! 👍
