Just a wee note to what Ribbz said about wage reduction!! I worked in a live band Pa in the rave scene from 93/96 called the Rythmic State. After the Rezerection Event 2 Summer 94 it was an outdoor huge rave with 15,000 people we had to leave & go to another gig from Edinburgh to Newcastle & be on stage for 5.30am after blowing Rezerection away & leaving such a great event we ended up in the old Newcastle key side which was a dangerous place in the early 90s we played the set went into the office to get payed & exactly what Shaun said we were asked to take a reduced wage as most of the clubs crowd where in Edinburgh at the Rezerection we’d just left 4 hours beforehand & he showed us a sawn off shotgun & said we can pay you this amount & we’ll book you to play next month!!! In a nano second we agreed & got the hell out of there as fast as loftgroover plays music. 💨 out of there we went back up to Scotland ASAP. Great memories but very dodgy. ✌️🕊️✌️
I met Ribbz at Pandemonium @ Mr B's in Willenhall in about 94-95 and he was such a nice bloke, we chatted for about 15-20 mins then he got on the mic and ripped the place up. Big up to the MC Ribbz.
That’s so true .. back in the early 90s there was about 5 different styles sometimes under one roof on the one night ❤️🙏🏼Yet years later still loved .. Ribbz was amazing at the Rezerection two years ago
Ribbz best performance was with Dj Tanith & Producer at universe mind body & soul 1992. Absolutely groundbreaking set. 🕊️👍🕊️. You have to listen to that set if you’ve never heard it as it’s truly a masterpiece of hardcore music from the best time. Awesome work from both DJs & Ribbz is so on it it’s palpable and you feel the buzz coming through the set from Shaun. 🎤☝️

Yeah man I traveled down from Edinburgh for the Universe Tribal Gathering in April 30th 1993. Spent most of the night in the Techno Marquee where Jack Horner & Ribbz would swap through the night from the main state & techno marquee it was the best event I ever attended & I went to most of the famous big events. Nothing came close to that night at lower Pertwood farm. Wonderful halcyon Night/morning. 🕊️👍🕊️🤯. Although I think Ribbz best Mc set is Universe Mind body & Soul Dj Producer & Tanith 1992

Not a hundred percent sure what he means by 'bounced' , but I assume he means that newer MCs were being shunned by the 'more established' ones. Wotsee talked about the meeting in his interview too. Go check it out. There was also a similar DJ meeting in the late 90s when the scene was falling. It's mentioned in the Force and Styles interview. No one has told us the full story yet though...
@@paulhalgarth1164 there seemed to be a split in styles at Raves after the DJ meeting , the Happy Hardcore DJ’s went in 1 direction, the Gabber & rave techno in an other, jungle with Drum & Bass in an other. Up until about say 1996/97 you would either hear different style on the same stage or the party’s would cater to all three styles by having multiple rooms like rollers, the technodrome & the main arena in Milton Keynes. But it got to a point where, the techno/gabber/acid/trance crew ( which I was part of) really hated what happy hardcore had become with force & styles, hixxy’s Toy Town & them sampling pop records for the breakdowns. The gabber DJ’s were playing really fast speed core at 200 BPM or metal records like loft Groover & you had the ragga inspired jungle, then tech step Drum & Bass from Ed Rush plus optical. It really splinted the raves as most of us into Techno & Gabber did not want to hear heart of gold 5 times a night in the main arena tho a lot of us liked jungle/drum & Bass. Then Techno took off and a lot of us went to more underground clubs & party’s that played acid/tech house/electro & techno. Looking back, I get how off putting 200+ Bpm Gabber was but equally so was hearing how much of a formula Happy Hardcore was, I still liked Luna C, old breakbeat hardcore & even Scott brown stuff just could not stand Dj Vibes, Hixxy and the ultra cheesy stuff they were making & playing remixes of Aha etc.

Not a hundred percent sure what he means by 'bounced' , but I assume he means that newer MCs were being shunned by the 'more established' ones. Wotsee talked about the meeting in his interview too. Go check it out. There was also a similar DJ meeting in the late 90s when the scene was falling. It's mentioned in the Force and Styles interview. No one has told us the full story yet though...
@@paulhalgarth1164 there seemed to be a split in styles at Raves after the DJ meeting , the Happy Hardcore DJ’s went in 1 direction, the Gabber & rave techno in an other, jungle with Drum & Bass in an other.
Up until about say 1996/97 you would either hear different style on the same stage or the party’s would cater to all three styles by having multiple rooms like rollers, the technodrome & the main arena in Milton Keynes.
But it got to a point where, the techno/gabber/acid/trance crew ( which I was part of) really hated what happy hardcore had become with force & styles, hixxy’s Toy Town & them sampling pop records for the breakdowns.
The gabber DJ’s were playing really fast speed core at 200 BPM or metal records like loft Groover & you had the ragga inspired jungle, then tech step Drum & Bass from Ed Rush plus optical.
It really splinted the raves as most of us into Techno & Gabber did not want to hear heart of gold 5 times a night in the main arena tho a lot of us liked jungle/drum & Bass.
Then Techno took off and a lot of us went to more underground clubs & party’s that played acid/tech house/electro & techno.
Looking back, I get how off putting 200+ Bpm Gabber was but equally so was hearing how much of a formula Happy Hardcore was, I still liked Luna C, old breakbeat hardcore & even Scott brown stuff just could not stand Dj Vibes, Hixxy
and the ultra cheesy stuff they were making & playing remixes of Aha etc.
I'd say it meant not getting paid
