Robbie Dee when he was on form was one of the best Mc’s. The obsession MC trio of Ribbz, Robbie Dee and Tekno were hard to beat. Hardcore music IMO reached a peak in 93 with Obsession leading the way. You had trance, techno, jungle all under one roof. Robbie Dee had a voice that seem to blend with the beats almost like it was part of the record. Those that experienced it live know what I am talking about.
Mc Robbie Dee, (I’ve told this tale before) me and my underage mates were underage drinking in the Swan pub in Gloucester… Robbie was in there as well… we had all bought tickets to go to Tribal Gathering which was the following day… anyhow, Robbie tricked us into thinking it was happening “now” and that we were missing it…. Literally blind panic amongst all my mates… what a joker.. top bloke, great MC
Robbie D was the best MC in the hardcore days, one of the first raves I went to was quest in Wolverhampton 1993 I was 16 I didn't get in my mates did ..so I queued up again and the same bouncer that didn't let me in the first time let me in the second time round😂
I remember Robbie at the Garvey and Venue44, but the best for me was Obsession and Dance Planet - Pure Energy, Plymouth warehouse. Shame Obsession at St.Austell never happened was gutted. Dreamscape, Helter-skelter, Pure-X made up for it for me though in the end.
amazing interview once again. ratty n robbie dee the ultimate combo. big ups alex. quality interview. nice shout out from robbie about eternal cru partys aberystwyth. ❤ talybont n abergwesyn
YES Alex! My apologies pal, when did you start up a podcast man? Loving it mate. Deffo gonna be all over these going forward. Robbie Dee, one of, if not, my favourite mc in the original hardcore days 92 for me being the peak I'd say. My first tape was in 88. A recording of an illegal acid house party somewhere. Even then it was a dodgy as fook copy lol. But 90 to 94 were my personal favourite years. Original Detinator Robbie Dee though man. Geeza rose to the King of the Microphone for me as a youngster. Never did I imagine at the time I'd one day (and many thereafter), shake the man's hand. Chat a little here and there to him. Then end up in a sesh at Tim Ryan's house after a Rave having a proper laugh. 🎉❤ No one can ever top being a huge part of my meeting my wife though brother. If it wasn't for you putting the Fantazia nights back on and helping us out with the ticket situation, we couldn't have dropped a cheeky mitsubishi and danced into forever together. Married 11 years now, still going strong. Together 12. It's just flew by, so thanks for that un. Hope you and Stacey are well too. Got some podcasts to binge on now then... Top one, nice one, sorted!! ❤
Robbie d my top mc from happy hardcore in the 90’s next to whizzkid! Robbie will always be my top mc and never forget the shout out to the 8 coppers that jumped him at the shopping mall that sorted him the Bed n breakfast!! Viynalgroover helter skelter timeless 98! #legends
Robbie D is a legend in the seen. The energy he used to produce at raves such as Dance paradise and obsession We used to go just for his mc skills. Big up from Great Yarmouth.
Remember meeting robbie at a party in Swindon, cant remeber which one, i went up to him and pleaded with him to spit some bars, he shook my hand and said he was too fucked..Big up yourself.
Easygroove Dennis , robbie , Ribz & mc DIGGA were the bristol crew way back in the 90s …. how come this guy didnt mention Digga il never know !! I seen Easy Groove play a slammin set in Euthenasia at the Dark Arch Neath in the 90s but robbie didnt turn up as he missed the train but Ribbzy & Digga were there
Ha. A friend of mine that owned our local record shop put up Robbie for a bit. That would have been the nineties in Mansfield. He'd hang around in the record shop just as a regular lad. Didn't hold back his opinions on tunes that people would listen to before buying, including me. We disagreed a few times. All good though. Decent MC back in the day for sure. Win Jon Peel.

Thank you for inspiring & entertaining so many of us with your unique style Robbie. This set really stood out for me growing up, loved it for the music and the wicked MC of course! ua-cam.com/video/C-Z0-n5uEJ0/v-deo.html
MC MC and Ribbz were by far my favourites, those two guys knew how to let the DJ work and the music be the priority. They were excellent every time. Shadow, scallywag and Chickaboo, then Det and GQ later. They all knew how to be part of it not all of it.
