Sensational! I loved this project and was very excited to faser here to my house. Congratulations for the good work and thanks for sharing with all of us.
I didn’t have a swimming pool, so this lounge project went from $85 to $85,000.
Good call on the pool
$65,085 here in Texas!
Hahahaha
Lol
LoL
Wow! Love the lounge! Great job!
You girls are my FAVORITE channel!!! I just opened a DIY art studio a few months ago (where we do a lot of wood signs/decor) and your videos help SOOOO much in learning how to use all these AWESOME tools! I *LOVE* that you girls make it so easy, and power tools/woodworking isn't nearly as intimidating as I used to think!!! THANK YOU and keep doing what you're doing!!!
And - many congratulations on your baby! Another side thank you - for getttin it DONE while pregnant, such inspo!
Im so glad I discovered you both. You guys rock!
Those lounge chairs are Awesome!👏🏻😎
Great end product and great job on the tutorial. Time to relax by the pool with a drink.
Love it! Great job ladies.
you guys are awesome! i build everything now, keep it up.
this is a great summer project!!
Looking at that tool wall, I can only feel envy. Nice build btw.
Love it
mis reinas felicitaciones por su excelente trabajo gracias
Brilliant!
appreciated the lounge so much i bought the ebook. thanx ladies
Awesome my amigas!!!
Hugs from Argentina
Guess what I'm building next summer .... yup, great idea. Respect
Amazing! Thanks for sharing
Hi Shanty. I watch you all the time and I love your plans. I have a question please, how can I make these lounge chairs HIGHER? I have a bad back and knees. Thank you for your knowledge and it gives me inspiration that a woman can build also.
Wow totally cool and so easy to build.
Thank you
Tim from wood 4 nothing
These are beautiful! Thank you for sharing! :)
Love it! Our next weekend off project...👍
Great job...fast and concise video. Downloadable plans make it mistake proof. One add to make would be to include a "plug" for the supplier of the padding so the padding size matches the chaise. Wala...a complete build then! We'll figure out our own Margarita mix!
Laura Vinson we link to the cushions a few times in the post on our site 😀
Hi, ladies...AMAZING project...beautiful and so charming 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Awesome project!
Great job...Im building one myself!!!!
Great stuff, in wet climates you might want to make sacrificial 'legs' to raise the lounger up off the ground, they could be soft or hardwood. The other thing I have done is add wheels to a lounger with lockable castors, they worked ok but the ground needs to be pretty level. Keep up the good work!
I was just thinking they could be a little bit hefty to move around & castors would really help.
I love it
Hi guys I love ur video and love the idea of the lounge bed but I think they r to small for my garden is there any chance u could post a smaller version
I love this! Crafty women you two are! Have you considered adding a set of wheels either at the top or the bottom to make it easy to move out of the way if necessary?
You ladies rock :-) Im going to build this
Awesome!!!
Really nice looking lounge chair, just curious about what angle the mitre cut is at?
GREAT JOB !
Hi, I absolutely love this project! If I want to use a twin mattress would it fit ? If not could you tell me what items I would need to make it to fit a twin mattress? Thanks so much!
Can you make a twin sized house bed?? For girls/boys? I would really appreciate it! Or at least plans for it!
Or you could use 2 x 6x6 posts, and 3x pallets? Less glue, less screws, less time, less effort, same result! Just saying girls, looks good though 👍
The thing about using six by sixes for some reason they always seem to twist using two by sixes you can rotate the Grain to keep them from twisting
Definitely pulling inspiration from this!
I love this lounger and your instructions! Have you done a version with 4-6 legs instead of the chunky sides you used in this version?
I had the same thought. Time saver?
good stuff ladies! chair looks nice and sturdy...u should get those spring loaded center finder drill bit for the hinges.makes drilling so fast and accurate 👍👍
Thanks!!
Shanty2Chic ALWAYS!!🍻
***** theyre not too bad..ive seen little crappt thin plastic chairs run 199.99 each
I've been pricing loungers and this is CHEAP - most are $200/ea to buy, at minimum!
Sonia J needs cup holders for the magaritas..;)
"We might even use Sun-In..."! LOL!!!
What did you treat the wood with? Plain old pine 2x4's (etc) will rot outside untreated.
Could you just use 4x4x8's for the base? Instead of stacking everything together?
Uaal, very very nice!!!!!
great vid..Badass work. Sadly the padding added is more than your build. Definitely a solid lounger. Beautifull!
These exact cushions are no longer available.. any idea where I could get the same dimension cushions from ?
Ryobi much? I dig the set up.
where’d y’all get the mattress from? i need it.
Where did you get the cushions? Drop a link! I’d like to build these but the don’t want to make custom cushions.
Keep making videos you two are awesome!
I've seen cushions like that sold at Home depot and Menards
Cypress would be beautiful and mold resistant.
Nice Job ladies! But I agree with others. Should have used pressure treated lumber.
You could use solid 4x4 or 6x6 posts save joing wood. Also that's a lot of weight resting on those 2inch screw in the side batons - not better to mitre section out of the sides so it's resting on the actual wood not the screws!. But love the design.
I'm actually building them right now and I thought about that. But I will just add a small bracket for additional support under where the butt would be to hold weight when sitting up. They never mention and I don't see it in the plans on overall lenght. I build before I I assume it's 72" or a tad longer than cushions but they never mention cutting the 2x4x8's. I'm using 4x6's
Could you tell me where you get your tool belts personalized? Also, what do YOU like to carry in them? Love you ladies!
Angie Danel thank you! We found them at Harbor Freight and our mom monogrammed us patches that we glued to them. Scroll down a bit on this link and we share all the detailed info: www.shanty-2-chic.com/our-favorite-tools
Angie Danel we keep screws in our magnetic pouch, I typically have a small level, tape measure, work gloves, drill and kreg bits, small nippers and mints in my bag. It changes depending on the project but these are my staples ;)
Where did u get the cushion?
I think I just found my next project... thanks girls
Just curious, how much do these things weigh?
Love ya'lls videos.. did you make the cushion are is that a standard size I can buy at the store?
David Moss I bought them from target and designed the chairs to fit them. We link to the cushions in the post on our site - linked in the description box😀
thank you!
They are not very cheap huh lol
Where are the cushions from ?
😻
Where did you get the pad?
where is that awesome glue container from?
Pammie Sue we found it on Amazon and linked to it in the post on our site! Link is in the description box!
👍
Where'd you get the cushions
Nice looking loungers, love the look. This is meant in a constructive type of way though. But how long will these last? With all the tight fits and screws wood movement is sure to split and crack. Only concern is that, with them being outdoors, exposed to moisture and swelling. But great job girls
SayWhaat thanks! They are still on my patio and we use them a lot. No problems!
Shanty2Chic Wonderful! :) Thanks for the content, enjoyable and good to give women confidence and know how on being a diy chick. 👍
HI I love your channel! very encouraging to the first time DIYer! questions: 1) I don't see you us sander as much as I see from other channels. Do you chose certain type of boards that don't requires as much sanding? 2) I am in love with West Elm Emmerson table, it looks like it's very simple so i wonder if you can show us how to build a similar chunky long table.
Alicia Huisi Chen thank you! We don't sand much on the videos to keep the length shorter. We go into more detail in the posts on our site. We do sand every piece before we add a finish though!
link to the cushions ?
What brand and color of stain or paint is in the fence in thumbnail?
K G Household Account someone else asked me that on IG. I wish I knew. We hired a fence company to stain it and told them to use a dark walnut type stain.
You should have used a single 2x4 instead of all 2x6 on both sides and you would have a stronger design for slats. Overall great job.
Do you guys think you could do a rocking Adirondack chair?
Erica Eldredge we haven't but we have made a bar height Adirondak. It's like a giant lifeguard chair 😀 www.shanty-2-chic.com/2014/07/diy-adirondack-chair-bar-height.html
And who the hell is lifting these onto the patio from the shed .......The Hulk .......Holy Christ
Thump up!
Love the look, but I have some constructive criticism. You mentioned several times to use outdoor screws and hinges, but what about treated lumber? That wood will start rotting, twisting, with the 1st rain. You should coat with an outdoor water sealer at the very least.
I did coat it with a protective finish and I mentioned that in the post on our site. I still have them and they haven’t warped or rotted.
Why not purchase a 6x6 beam?
What lumber is this?
wherewould I find a fitting cushion for that size? please
Evrlastn Rose I found them at target and linked to them in the post on our site. You can find the post in the description box under this video 😀
Cushion link not available.
go gray or go pool
Really nice but way too heavy base
good job
where is gray color 😉
Omar Alblowi it's Briarsmoke by Varathane. If you click the link to the plans in our description box, there is a link to the stain :)
Shanty2Chic big fan from Saudi Arabia
I`m in the retirement phase of my life. I do a bit of cabinetry, make musical instruments, and carry out woodturning in my small shop. I discovered this woodworking book, “pepe amazing plan” (Google it), and acquired it despite the fact that I have many woodworking books in the house. The comprehensiveness of this book is unbelievable. It has decent coverage on every subject matter.
My hinge won't work. Everytime I lean the top back it pulls the screws out. What am I doing wrong?
Looks like they don't respond!
super, ale tá hmotnosť...asi budú dosť ťažké
So how heavy is it lol
Just wondering why glue (3) 2x6...when you can buy 4x6 or 6x6 ...even 4x8!
I can do this for $50
charmnGUY 4x6 and 6x6 aren’t easy to find across the country and they are super expensive where we live. You can modify our plans however works best for you but we have to keep in mind what’s the most cost-effective and readily available across the US when we are designing our plans. This was the most affordable and best product option for us!
Why didn't you use pressure treated lumber?
Amanda Duso thats what I was thinking? You don't want the screws to that but let the wood warp and rot?
Amanda Duso why didn't they pre drill? Why didn't they do a lot of things.. these two are trying but they are not building something that will last.
FLIPPIN COOL #YOBUZ
You know what would be awesome? Measurements. What length did you cut everything? You say you need a miter saw. I’m assuming you cut everything to a specific length? I’m actually trying to make these. I guess I will measure the cushion and figure it all out myself
Imagine leaving a smart a$$ comment like this when you didn’t read the description with the link to the “free printable plans” that include a supply list (including tools) AND a cut list.
It would take an extra 2 seconds so ppl wouldn’t have to go to 2 different places to figure this out. Sorry. But pull up any other instructional videos. Tell me how many ppl send you other places. Have a wonderful weekend 👍
Oh yea. You might have more than 4K likes
@@kingdawg2011 oops, didn’t mean to embarrass you 😬 Hope you have something planned with some fun friends on this Friday night to cheer you up 😘
Lol, Why did it sound like the wood cracked right when she sat on it.
Why not just use two 4x4x8 or a 6x6x8 instead of the sandwich??
Wow! A 300 lb. lounger.
Definitely not going to fly away in that Texas wind!
The screw for the 2x2 hits the seam of 2x6s, not a solid attachment. The entire integrity of the chair rests on these screws 🥶
under a hundred $ to make the chairs... but the pillows are 200+ $ each if you want to have some decent ones :)
Instead of stacking 4 2x6 and then adding the small piece inside for the base why not sandwich a 2x8 in there and you’ll already have your ledge...
I thought about that too, but it would not give you the look of the raised arms on the side. The 2x4's would be flush with the sides. One thing they never discuss in video or plans is the length they cut the 2x4x8's. I'm assuming it's length to the cushion, but just not specified. I have built two chaisse lounges before, but it might be beneficial for others to see.
1:25 wood cracking. pre-drill next time!
3 - 2x6 and 1 2x8 would eliminate that weak cleat, screws and glue are not gonna last forever
gwright2001 they’ve lasted through 4 Texas summers so far 🙌🏽
”Bαzοmο Tdy Plαn” (Google it) is a fantastic book about wood working. I am a graduate of a one-year carpentry program from a local tech college. Of all the books I have read during my study about woodworking, I think this is the best book I have read so far. It describes everything concerning woodworking and complements it with helpful pictures. .
How many trees did you just go through 😭! Another design with less use of wood please.
I don't have the saws so it went from $85 to $300.
85$ for soft pinewood which wouldn't last one seasons outside eesh...also where is the price and link for the cushion? This looks more like a 200$ total cost + weatherproofing finish on the wood but it still wouldn't last very long considering it's not hardwood. :( better buy new.
Amalia Guégan except they are still going strong after 6 Texas summers 🤣🤣🤣
With the cost of wood now it's 225, additionally, the plans and the video do not match, additionally the cut list is incorrect
Fit for Elephants...To missive, too heavy
Lol 85? Try 225$
