Games like this, RDR2, KCD,W3,GR Wildlands etc I like to live them, I don't play them like normal games, I take my time, have them on the hardest difficulty, minimal indicators on screen, i don't loot everything in sight or use OP weapons, no fast travel.
Just months of content and everything requires planning and caution.
You sir play the games just as I do. Hard difficulty. More “realism” makes for an enhanced experience. I’m truly Glad to know that someone else does it like I do. Wildlands is absolutely amazing.
Regarding AI and stealth, I almost always did stealth attacks. You have to upgrade your blade with materials so that you can kill same level enemies, even bigger ones. You can 100% play full stealth or some combination. You can set traps and watch out for the alarm fires (enemy yells according to his intention to alarm reinforcemens, like in Far Cry), that's a good mechanic.

@Cintinu Your problem is that the franchise has moved on but you haven't. You can absolutely prefer the old games, but these games are by no means bad just because they're RPGs.
I disagree with this video. What constitute a AC game? I think is the story, This is a story with a quest of revenge and the founding of the Assassins brotherhood. To me this is an authentic AC story and game. We can argue about the video game mechanics and gameplay. If we are honest, AC revelations was the start of the fatigue in the series, Black Flag was a breath of fresh air with naval combat, Unity, Rogue and even Syndicate just proved to be a tiring, furmulaic and redundant. Origins opened the door for the series to explore history beyond the brotherhood and expand the lore further where they can marry the magical and science fiction elements of the present day story to the awesome Period stories. I played the games since Altair and Ezio, and just replayed them and to be honest... they're ok... definitely not better than Odyssey or Origins. To say that you don't stealth in those two games is fairly optional.

@Cintinu Ok, by that logic we should call Metal Gear Solid Assasin’s Creed, you know became of the mechanics and gameplay.
The only reason Assasin’s Creed is what it is because of the lore, the story, the brotherhood, the Isu people, artifacts and vaults. Is all about how they marry the science fiction, fantasy with real historical events.

@@chrishastings8888 I have completed every Assasin’s Creed game. None of them are difficult.
Just tried this over the past month myself after avoiding all the RPG styles for these past years, except for a few hours I put in Odessey when it released (but not since). And... overall I have to disagree. This felt COMPLETELY like an AC game to me. Yes, the mechanics are entirely different but the soul of AC is inside it and I haven't felt this challenged and immersed in an AC game since the first three titles. Got utterly addicted to this one. And I ghost as many camps as I can. Learning curve is way steeper to become as fluid as older ones, but DAMN when it finally gels it's some of the most satisfying gameplay in the series IMO. Love it.
I actually started the game by regions 1 at a time and forgot about the main quest for a long time because I was doing all the side missions and staying within my level. Every time I came to a higher level quest or area I would skip and go to somewhere that was my level. Once I got to level 30 the game just took off. I was grinding the whole time exploring and finding tombs without any pressure. Now I’m at 41 and the game is even more fun. Especially when you can beat the GODS.
I did the same. Eventually, as I really became comfortable I turned on auto-leveling and upped the difficulty to Hard and then it really became fun. Most AC fun I've had since Black Flag honestly.
Did the same in AC Odyssey, forgot about the main quest for a long time and doing side missions, exploring and looting places and stuff. Was lots of fun but that game is 200 hours long and eventually it became boring. I didn't finish the main quest because of this besides the fact I had to make up space to download Call of Duty back then
@@woetroe070 I've tried four times to make it all the way through Odyssey. Still haven't done it. Got really close last month and it just stopped being fun. But somehow AC-O draws me back in every time. Two NG+ now. :)
Well I actually explored the world finding newer missions and got xp all the time. Animals, treasures, I never had problem levelling up. I think it is an extremely good and detailed game. These type of games make you lose yourself in the world and not just grind the main quests one after another.

No, what you are referring to is Sandbox. Majority of open world games have starter regions that you beed to complete to go to open world, for Witcher 3 it was White Orchard, for Skyrim it was Helgen, for ACO it's Siwa.
Or you want to say that Skyrim and Witcher 3 are not open world too?!
No doubt I never had a problem at all with leveling or hidden blade, for me this game is in my top 3 all time right behind the red dead games. It's crazy that it gets so much hate and gets lumped in with oddysey cause I would have killed for a bayek sequel!
Funny enough I just picked up and played this game yesterday after putting it down for about 6 months. It didn't gel with me the first time and yesterday it finally clicked with me. I haven't stopped playing it. What an enjoyable experience so far. Good video as well :) earned a sub

I agree bro. Ancient Egypt is amazing and the core gameplay of stealth combat is always fun, but the side missions are never good, the levelling is a grind and the characters get stale, there is no development whatsoever. I miss AC 1-4.
Assassin's creed origins was great I honestly I love assassin's creed played them sinc the ezio trilogy and origins is one of my favourite entry's
AC games ended after Rogue n Black Flag. These new games are not AC, they just put the name on it. Parkour, fighting, stealth, basically everything is absolutely not AC. They gotta roll it back. Odyssey was one of the worst open world RPGs I’ve ever played. It seemed to be an intentional overkill of a joke. Origins is enjoyable, but it’s NOT AC.
Easily the best entry in the ‘new’ AC games. Odyssey and Valhalla are complete crap. Regret dropping money on those two.
The DLC for this game was also very good. Enjoyed the pyramid puzzles as well.
AC Origins is one of the best games I’ve ever played in my life. If you haven’t played it, please play it. 😂

@@PatrickFromsoftware I’ve played RDR2 literally 10 times. I love that game so much too. I’ve played the Witcher 3 a good bit but I haven’t finished it sadly. It’s a great game too though.
What's funny, is I didn't realize the biggest gripe was I didn't care about the story a whole lot. I skipped a lot of dialog. Maybe it's because I'm coming from the God of war series.
There are more question marks then in Batman's games with Riddler's enigmas.
Anyway, funny game with a lot adventure actions and research, atmosphere like a movies "Indiana Jones", "Sahara", "Romancing the Stone", "Jewel of Nile".😊
After certain time collecting question marks starts to be annoying, when you find one place, shows another qustion marks up.
I simply don't care about the 'main' quest. I'll get to it when I get to it. It's a great little game and there's just so many interesting things to do and explore, just like Odyssey and the unfairly reviled Valhalla. The random quests are better than in Odyssey on average (fewer useless fetch quests) and this was before Ubi felt compelled to stuff their wokeness into their games.

Regarding the level requirements, is it necessary now? I remember before like in Brotherhood if you have better armor you will have more HP. But its not necessary as long as you can kill by stealth the boss target. But now is the stealth kill is not the main theme of the newer AC games?

I loved the game, and yes, there was some grind and the cost to upgrade was ridiculous, but I lost in it and really didn't notice that much.
Been wanting to try it forever but wouldn't pay more than 20 for it....on sale on steam rn for $8 so here we go ☺️
Most of your criticism is against Open World Games in general, not ACO. You could sum up the video with "if you don't like Open World Games, you won't like ACO."
I think that the developers tried to give you mechanics to smooth out the weaknesses of Open World Games. Not every game does that...
And specifically the point "you have to level up to progress": the opposite mechanic would be Scaling of enemies according to your level. And if I would have to chose I always prefer the fixed Level option since only then leveling up makes sense to me ("you are too weak for this region? Well go look elsewhere, train the mechanics, get stronger and then come back and take revenge" 🙂)
You absolutely didn't get what was my issue with that mechanic but I will just agree (since your this statement is not actually opposing mine)
I like the video. Honestly, almost everything negative you said actually appeals to me as someone who loves RPGs and doesn’t like the original AC games. I think I’ll pick this up on the Steam autumn sale.
I feel the same way, I haven't played it yet but will probably buy it tonight, but every complaint he presented I couldn't agreee with, I don't get why some people only wanna play the main mission straight through basically and ignore all the rest. ofc a lot of side mission in AC are boring and repetative but AC have never been a game with great AI of enemies or characters imo, you play it because it is fun, fluid, explorative and stealthy, at least that is my experience.
Playing through it now for the first time. One of my favourite games already!

Honest and to the point review, earned my sub. As someone that recently started with the game, this reviewer really says it like it is. Man i miss the AC2 era, i feel this "slapping on the AC branding" to these open world titles, just does the franchise harm.
Ubisoft became so lazy with their cookie cutter designs and the need to release a game every year.

My first AC game and I'm hooked.
New AC Mirage is an old school ac game formula , no open world , no rpgs , no fantasy elements, just history and classic stealth system. Hope it will be great.
Assassins creed has always been somewhat opoen world / sandbox though. You're really expecting it to have no open world gameplay lmao

It's a bit different than Odyssey, but if you liked Odyssey and did not mind the grind, you will enjoy this too.
But, just to be clear it is just for me, I kinda preferred Odyssey a tiny bit better, even though majority prefer Origins. Maybe because I am more familiar with Greek setting and history
I wouldn't really say this or any of the RPG AC games were ever marketed as stealth games.
I am lvl 51 and the game is absolutely fun. What is this guy talking about I do not understand. If they made another classic AC game he would say it is boring and same as last game. If they made racing game they would say this has nothing to do with AC. But, if they made shirts and AC pants that would be great

Ancient Egypt is beautiful in Origins but unfortunately, this game is bloated with shitty side content and half assed rpg mechanics. It's also way too easy even on highest difficulty. Wasted potential if you ask me.

I mean, I could say the same about The Witcher 3 but I love that game and played it through 3 times, DLCs included. Combat is kinda bad in that but the story and world keeps me interested and I will definitely play it again. Also Geralt and Roach control terribly, way worse than Bayek
@@KodaivaWell, for example the randomly generated loot is poorly designed. Legendary equipment drops all the time so there's no excitement when you find something good because you'll replace it in a matter of 20-30 minutes (or even quicker) anyway. If you played something like Diablo 2 you should probably know how "rare" equipment should work.
Also The skill trees are filled with skills that are either useless (like the ability to control animals) or totally overpowered (like starting a fight with your ability bars filled up, so you can instantly spam the most powerful attacks right at the beginning of a fight).
@@rem792 Yeah bro I get what you mean. I usually don't care about story in games that much so if I find the mechanics boring or heavily flawed I usually drop the game even if the story is super good. I'm all about gameplay, mostly. Funnily enough, I dropped W3 for the exact same reason rofl.

@@Nyxson My statement was made due to you not liking doing the side quests. So I just figured you where more of linear kind of gamer type. I like side quest. And if you come across someone not falling in your taste, then don’t do them. I do however prefer the side quests in Odyssey. I really think the got some fun and good side quests in that game.

First, it's important to understand my background for this perspective. I am 60 years old and have been gaming since home computers became a thing. I am 100% shocked and marvel at how beautiful and immersive games have become. I really enjoyed how the mechanics and gameplay worked in this specific game.
Now here's what I don't care for:
I loved playing Bayek. I hated "being Bayek" in every one of the cut scenes.
I found it impossible and infuriating that the main character - who is literally the baddest guy in that world - is reduced to a bawling, crying sniveling cuckold every single time he thinks about his dead son or talks to his amazingly powerful and masculine "wife".
Traditional roles, behaviors, and attitudes are completely flipped on their heads. History is re-written in this game (I also have a problem with that because of the number of kids who "learn" about history through games instead of classrooms). Caesar and Cleopatra are evil. Pompey, Brutus and Cicero are well meaning. Women are men. Men are women.
And what purpose can this possibly serve? Does it promote the game? Is it necessary for the story?
Of course not.
It's all put in so the Canadian owners of the company can virtue signal.
And that's why I won't spend any real world money on this game beyond what it cost me to play it on game pass.
I buy games that are written to entertain me.
Not ones written to convince me that tiny women and effeminate men can fight too.
This is how horizon fw is. To many weapons…to many upgrades and to much grinding
