  • The bubble.
    We have a zone of influence over our dog. The more training we do, the deeper the relationship we have, the bigger the zone is and the less susceptible it is to burst, like a bubble.
    Here we are working with Sol on his recall. As soon as he sees the pigeons, we stop to see if he stops with us. As we progress towards the pigeons, you can see that becomes less effective as we are at the early stages of training.
    Our dogs are incredibly sensitive to our movement, where our hips, feet and shoulders are pointing and where we are looking. Skip caps and dark framed glasses exaggerate this by action as big arrows, often pointing at the exact thing we want our dogs to have less interest in.
    We use our voices far more often than we should when we really need to use our body language. Slow down, breathe, pay attention to what is around you and how it might influence your bubble.
