I didn’t know what these did when I played, and I was too afraid to use them because I thought I might need a lot later like they were some combat item like bombs. So I accidentally got this achievement just because of my collector’s anxiety
By the time I figured out the game's gimmick of "experiment, cuz we aren't going to tell you outright" I just used it to see if it was useful. I'm glad it wasn't too important.
thanks for making this video Fury! it helped me find the last few effigies I missed (one of which was 12, which is embarrassing considering how it's pretty visible and I had visited the fishing ghost before)
Nice to see videos about this game! A very enjoyable experience, but some of the later puzzles got a bit too obtuse for me and I had to resort to a guide. I would love to see a video on how the secret language(s!) work and how you're "supposed" to decode them, because I still have no idea how anyone ever figured those out.
The runic script (I don't know what it's canonically called, I just called it Tuniglyphics) is actually really possible to figure out on your own! There's a couple pages in the manual that give you really big hints as to how it works - Blue Pen Guy's notes are super helpful - but I managed to crack it before I even had the full manual. (If you finish the whole manual, the last page gives you a key that pretty much spells out how the script works; but if you don't have that yet, the notes on the hints & tips page also really help) What made it click for me was looking for sentences or sequences of words in the manual and character dialog where I could make educated guesses as to what they meant based on context, and looking for shared structures between glyphs. Like, if you've played the game and figured out how to do certain things, or how certain mechanics or items work, then if you can identify the part of the manual where it explains them, you can make a *pretty good guess* at what it's saying based on that. And then, once you have a solid hypothesis as to what some glyphs mean, you can make a solid guess about what other glyphs used next to it mean, and you can start looking for patterns in the glyphs that parallel patterns in the assigned meanings ...
Dont worry if you destroyed too much in your first playthrough. Just do a new game plus after endboss because you keep most of your items and u can do it easily then
I just did exactly that. You don't even need to ring the bells or collect the hexagon keys, since you can get to the inner part of the graveyard where the 10th effigy is without becoming a ghost via a secret path around the right side of the door.
wait, what do you mean? im at 9 effigies now and i really dont want to have to collect all the keys now. the right side of the door? which door? and dont you need the jumpy dash for that? @@shadowlink6063
@@shadowlink6063that’s not true. I just tried this and I can’t open the cathedral door because I can’t activate de obelisk at the entrance of the cathedral. I can only do it when I am ghost and I can only be a ghost after I’m killed by the heir
@@StefannnPichler Yes, to access the cathedral you need to be a ghost or use glitches but to get the achivement you do not need every effigy, only 10, so you don't need the one in the cathedral. The one in the graveyard you can get without becoming a ghost and with all the others that are accessible without becoming a ghost you should get up to 10.
Here's a small fun fact regarding the effigy and the dopple doll consumables: They change color if you have used the changing room to change how the Little Fox looks. (A certain late-game enemy is also affected)
So awesome, thank you! With this trophy I achieved platinum today. I beat the game without hints but the trophy cleanup was super difficult and I never would have done it without help, especially the special items. But these were super difficult to find as well and I thank you for your help. I had smashed one early on but thankfully there was some room for forgiveness.
bro im so thankful theres actually 12 effigies cuz i precisely used 2 trying to figure out what they were for😂 i feared i'd have to play ng+ or a whole new save file just to platinum the game lol
[SPOILER WARNING] So I was gonna get Effigy 10 to complete the achievement and I accidentally clicked "A" while traveling through the portal realms and entered the final bossfight of the game. After I thought I couldn't go back, I went up to the Hero to try to fight them expecting I would die. And when I interacted with them, I triggered the good ending of the game (the one where you give them the full book and restore their physical form). That was the most unexpected way to finish a game I've ever done. 10/10, still a very amazing and beautiful moment, even though it was a accident.
Just guides, secrets, ARGs and other such showcase videos, with the occasional speedrun, on this channel. Most of my gameplay stuff is on stream and on ua-cam.com/users/furysquared
I had just finished the game, both endings, I have this achievement left. Thankfully didn't have to restart from zero cause 4 of them carrier over NG+, and chest refil. I couldn't stand going through all the game again 😭
If you collect them in NG+, you can collect 9 out of 10 without fighting any boss, but you are required to free the fox mom in order to get any of the remaining three.
No, I did it without becoming a ghost. The last two you can't get but for the 10th one you can get to the inner part of the graveyard by a secret path in the water around the bottom.

Nice. For some reason, I didn’t have that with Tunic, though I’m a HECK of a hoarder in most other games (I mean, you probably already know this.)

I collected around 7 with that same anxiety and then smashed it all together. Such a regret haha.
Fox: Let me smash...
Effigy: No

I was wondering. So your (spoilers)
clones change too?
I wonder in your brother (or whoever) also changes to resemble you in ending 2
I can't remember, I'll have to boot up the game to check to be certain, but I'm pretty sure that gets changed too.

All of these TUNIC's guides are great, but are you planning on doing Everything TUNIC run anytime soon? 🤔

You’re welcome. I’m glad it helped!
