These are all some of the mods I did . Managed to get the Oxford adventure grips to fit with Barkbusters. Also had 2inch Rox bar risers that are adjustable. Double Take mirrors are excellent too and easily survived a few gentle offs. Your changes are all highly recommended.
They really are a bargain. 5 heat settings (I think) and it remembers whether it was on or not if you turn the bike off (I think, not had any chance to try them properly). 👍👍
Oxfords are the best around. Much better than BMW grips and they will turn off due to circuitry that detects current draw when motor is not running. First accessory i always think of
Yes that is the same reason I always went with the KTM in the past. But none were available so it was Hobson's choice. I don't mind them too much, not being much of an aesthete 😂🤣👍 Hard to tell I know 😊
Thanks for the tech tips! Your insight and experience is appreciated. Risers and Oxford Heaterz installed on my 2019. I bought the Adventure grips. Instead of trimming them I cut the throttle tube end off, moved the whole mechanism in. Just be cautious not to glue the grips to the bars. I love the extra hand width on the bars with the Adventure Grips!
Thanks for watching and for the feedback. I still have the adventure grips so could try the same. Good idea. Only issue, for me, is it is all getting a bit busy on the bars with fairing, barkbusters etc. Good to know it can be done 👍
to fit the barkbusters on the 690 you'll need to cut back the screw receptacles on the lever protection caps that hold the stock handguards in place -- if you look closely you'll see that CodgerBiker did this
@@CodgerBiker interesting -- I've got a 2021 690 Enduro R (think you have a 2020) and the lever protection cap has these tube extrusions where the bolt goes through to fasten the stock handguards -- but when I look up the OEM part for the lever protection cap on KTMWorld it doesn't have those tube extrusions -- maybe my dealer did me dirty and put on the wrong lever protection caps -- anyways, I had to cut about 1/2" to 3/4" of those tubes on each side to fit the barkbusters
Hi Raul. Perhaps a design change? I think there were a few subtle changes in 21. With mine it fits snug to the OEM flag style guard mounts. At least you didn’t get the flaky clutch slave cylinder of previous models. 👍
I tuned into this video hoping you had a bit about the install of the turn signals in the BarkBusters hand guards. I saw they appeared in a later video but didn't see a separate video about the process. Did I miss it? How were they to install? Pretty straightforward?
I go over the reasons for this here in Parts 3 & 4. It was straightforward. No resistors needed, they worked out of the box 👍 ua-cam.com/play/PLeqBZ9Sn4T5uHaOBTkA-2naseMp3WPDK9.html Sent from my iPad
I don’t have the link, these people come and go on eBay. Just generic CNC risers as in the video. They worked fine, from memory 20mm meant cables and everything worked without adjustment. I used them for a while before fitting a Rade Garage fairing which came with its own risers.
I can't remember off hand. It is in the workshop manual - and the owners manual. I'm changing the risers soon, so I shall try and include it in the next video - thanks for watching 👍
While I like heated grips as I ride several different bikes I went for battery powered heated gloves. They are a wee bit thicker than my summer gloves but no larger than a normal pair of winter gloves
Hi Codger, last question... i promise :) do you have a link to the ram mount's that screw into the original mirror holes please? i havent a clue which thread size etc to order. My bike will also be finished then :) assuming maybe 1" Ball Base with M10 x 1.50 Pitch Male Thread??
Hi Andy. Ask anything. I don’t know much but will help if i can. On the 790 Adv I needed adapters, but on the 690 Enduro R I’m happy to say the Ram balls go straight in - oo err missus. According to my Amazon account it was this for my 2020 Enduro: RAM Mount M10 1.25 Pitch with 1-Inch Ball - Black. 2 of them the same. If wrong Amazon will take them back, but I’m pretty sure that’s what are on my bike now. 👍 Shall we meet up sometime in August? We can compare bikes - good vid 😉
I have a 790 R in Canada that is well known for its cold winters. I am currently trying to decide on adding heated grips or buy some heated gloves. I am looking at a pair of battery powered heated gloves from Five that sell for over 300 Canadian dollars. Did you consider gloves prior to the purchase of the heated grips?
We don’t get the cold as extreme as (I expect) you do. But since having had heated grips on other bikes I just get them with the bike as a matter of course, as I did with this one. I had to change the originals to fit the Barkbusters. I’ve never had heated gloves (I have put hand-warmers inside before now 😁). I’m sure they work great, but I’d forget to charge them. At least the grips are part of the bike. Over here the Oxford grips are so cheap (on eBay etc.) they are a no-brainer.
Living in Colorado and riding year-round, I wouldn't be without a pair of heated gloves in my collection. Heated grips have the advantage of always being with you wherever you are with the bike, but heated gloves keep the hands far warmer, including the backs of the hands and fingers. If I had to choose just one, it would be heated gloves hands down for cold weather riding. Edit: A couple of ways to get around forgetting to charge them is (a) purchase extra sets of batteries and hopefully you remember to charge 1 set while you use the other (b) buy the hybrid gloves that you can use either on battery or 12V :)
So I see you purchased a 690 ,I purchased i as well, originally I had the 790 like you had. My question is where did you find the bar risers. I've looked around and i can't find them. I've found seat header, and even air box,and different programming, but no risers
I found really cheap ones on eBay. You get three sets, with 4 height options, for £14. But I’m not intending to keep them, that is why I went cheap. I’ll get some ‘proper’ ones later. Just search ‘690 enduro r cnc bar risers’ on eBay and you should find them. They are pictured in orange but I messaged them for black. 👍
Hello. Many questions appeared at once - UA-cam does this sometimes. Anyhow the bike is stock apart from those changes in this video, no mapping or exhaust change - yet - what made you ask? I'm curious. I really like the 1290 too, but too heavy for me now. In actual fact, after this bike, I'll be looking to go electric. But it will not be soon as nothing comes close to my requirements/budget so far. 👍
I went 30 mm and just loosened up the wires behind the headlight and then had to get some slack on the hydraulic clutch line on the left side of the bike - but all fitted well.
@@CodgerBiker and I still beive they didn't make a kit yet. So it lowered the bike 1"? How did u find the difference? Did u purchase a lowered sest also? Thanks again for your help :)
Hi Julien. there is a KTM kit, but due to Covid it was not available. I bought a low seat too. So, in all, I ride about 40mm lower. All seems good. ua-cam.com/video/-MccFb8EMOU/v-deo.html
The KTM kit is (please check yourself) part number: 76912955544 But at the time there were none in Europe so I fitted the 1" Kouba Link for this bike. (The 1 5/8" Kouba Link is not suitable for bikes after 2019 without modification).
Only thing I don’t like about Oxford grips is the smooth surface. I wish they had a softer feel with some give like dirt grips. I have the same bits on my 500EXCF.
I know what you mean. Choice limited a little by space, but they are great value, especially if you look out for bargains. I have to have heated grips, soft! 😀👍
i had them fitted. Too thick for off roading, took off again and fitted symtec heat demons under motocross renthal grips. Better option if your using bike for what its designed for.

I found touring grips fitted better in the end. Great bike. Only must do mod is the slave cylinder (done) as far as I can tell 👍
The Oxford control module looks way better than the Powerparts one.
