- In this video, I'll guide you through the process of 3D scanning the legroom of a car, and then using the 3D scanning results to design a custom-made car mat that fits perfectly into the floor profile.
3D scanner used: CR Scan Otter - Large mode

Not only describing the process is great, also the ideas for what scanning can be used. Thx payo.
You're very welcome!

The Creality Otter 3D scanner is much faster and easier than the photogrammetry method I've been trying to use, but unfortunately, Creality doesn't have any Linux software so I can't use it.
You can. You not tied down to Linux it's not the be all and end all to use another os.
come on...windows it's free (cracked)
@@YOYO-vl6xr - Free Windows is still way too expensive. 😛
Should I be using PLy, STL or obj file format when exporting from the Creality scanner and working in the Inventor?
In the video, he used .asc.
No, you should not. Point cloud is more suitable to work in CAD environment.
@@Payo-TensileCreator Thank you. How do you export point cloud from the Creality scanner program? I only see these 3 formats
@ From object menu on the left you will see "RAW - Point Cloud - Mesh" Click on the eye icon of point cloud, then you can export point cloud in 2 formats, ASC and PLY
@ thanks. Thank you for such informative videos that you are making. They a very helpful!
Hi, How do I import asc into inventor? my inventor 2025 show, failed to import.
You've to go through this process. ASC -> LAS -> RCP Autodesk lock their software from opening point cloud freely, you need to convert that using ReCAP
