john you are in my opinion the best in the world at teaching the spey!! been watching people from around the world. thank you , cheers from Robert , st joe river , imdiana
I wish I had found this video a few months ago. Great tips. Trying to help, hooking I think refers to the condition where the line doesn't travel straight but rather lands on the water in an arc. With a double spey, right hand on top and river right my hook was to the left. Your tip would have helped my understand and solve the problem more quickly. Thanks for a great set of videos.
This is arguably the most valuable casting video ever made. I've watched them all lol. UA-cam, and DVD. None have addressed this stuff and it has been a lifesaver for me. IDK what motivates somebody to take so much of their valuable time and use it to help others, but I sure appreciate it. More than I can say and I hope great Karma comes your way and I know it will. Thank you for this, and all you awesome vids.
I film myself in slo-mo at 1080p 240 fps on GoPro Hero 6 or an iPad Pro 10.5(720p). You can then upload it to your youtube channel and have other people analyze it. Tip: Film wide angle with dark Pine Trees as backdrop (sun on backside of trees). Experiment with different angles. I was able to see my overpowering concave tip path and resultant tailing loops. Good Luck

Always great lessons. Thanks Jon.
Thank you. I have been watching all of your spey casting instruction videos. It has been a great help for me as a self taught fly fisher.
