- I take the new 2024 BMW F900GS Enduro for a test ride and give my first impressions and a review of the motorcycle. Not only is it a road review, but we get the chance to take them off road as part of the GS Experience event, so I really get to try out the bike like a true adventure bike.

I test rode this bike and bought it. Such an awesome bike!!
Nice mate, you've got an awesome bike!
I picked mine up today. Absolute blast to ride. Really impressive bike.
That's awesome, you've got yourself an amazing bike!
Traded my KTM 1290 SAR for the F 900 GS Enduro. KTM was way too much bike for me. BMW feels so much nicer and smoother to ride. Loads more agile with superior controls and menu systems. Way less top heavy feeling. Feels more like you're sitting on it, rather than in it. Overall quality and design nicer for me too. So far so good though!
king is 890advr, but this is a very close second. weight distribution and protection without crash-bars is the main thing that puts 890 ahead of 900.
I’d love to give the 890 a go
The 890 has crappy camshafts.
@@misterelectrum5413I have 64.000kms on my 901 in 2 years. Checked cams twice during that period, and they are in great condition. I change oil @ half the interval or shorter after hard rides, and I've had zero problems with the bike. 🤷♂️
f900 has yet to prove itself, so I'm taking 890/901 over anything until something better comes out. One thing I know for sure - you don't need crash protection for 890 platform, and I've seen what happens with f900 without crash bars when they tip over. Not nice.
Also, 890/901 pulls harder than f900 (probably due to shorter low gears).
Great video Josh, this is one of the contenders for my new bike post my accident last week! Did well with this one!
It’s a ripper of a bike mate, I’d love to have one parked in my garage!
I enjoyed the riding shots. Greta video!
Thanks!
Spot on again with the review. Nimble and light, I think they’re 217kg and 104hp
As for the seat I’m opposite, I liked the hard seat. I also felt the bumps and ripples in the road coming up through the suspension into the bars, could really feel it.
But overall quality is awesome.
Thanks heaps mate and yeah, I think it was super obvious initially because I just switched over from the 1300 which had the most comfortable seat I've ever sat on haha
“Light” is relative. Anything over 200kg isn’t ideal for off road work
Excellent review mate 🙌🙌…Have you tested the tiger 900 Rally Pro ??
Thanks heaps mate, I haven't but I want to get my hands on one this year to compare it to the BMW!
Did the same ride today. Tried the 1300 triple black and the 800! Should have gone for the 900 instead of the 800.
Still, great riding!
Nice, I would have liked to try the 800 to see how it performs!
Would have been fun to see acceleration on the tarmac. Besides that, it was a good review.
Thanks heaps, Robin!
Unfortunately here penalties for speeding are quite high, so I try and be responsible on the road, but agreed, if I could get access to a private property to test it would be amazing!
Different suspension set up between the 1300 and the 900 hundred hence the harshness feel of the 900 if you had ridden the 900 first I don’t think you would have felt that it was too harsh compared to the Yamaha but the 1300 is a lounge chair in comparison but get it in the really tight stuff that you like and both bikes are too heavy.
I reckon you're right on the money with this mate!
Tried the exact same bike yesterday awesome bike
It sure is!
Nice! This is the bike that the gen1 Versys wanted to be :)
👍
I did the same ride at 11am today, rode the same two bikes.
Nice mate, what did you think of them?
@@AusMoto rode the same F900GS as you on the way up with the little scratch on the tank and a Trophy on the way back. The Trophy felt more familiar as I’ve owned a GS before. The F900 would be more capable off road but I preferred the Trophy. Very impressive bikes though. As you said the Trophy is so comfortable. Overall $50 well spent!
@@Flaminuggboot good stuff!
I was going to go on this ride, but couldn’t I’m spewing, did you get to meet Miles, he’s a top bloke👍🏻
Ah mate, it was a great event and yeah I did, what a legend! 👍🏻
@@AusMoto he has the best job 🤘🏼
I was literally just telling my mate that haha@@EddyOtway
with just a 14.5 litre fuel tank I think you would have major fuel anxiety on any ride away from the east coast.. not for me
That's certainly true!
How would you compare it to a Ténéré T7? I have the Yamaha and am tempted!
Much better on the road and more fun however I still think the T7 is better for technical stuff.
I'm really looking at bmw hard for a new bike. I'm a harley rider so never had an ADV bike. Would this be too small for touring? I'm tired of lugging around my road glide but I don't want to miss out on being able to take trips with friends.
It’s definitely not too small for touring, however check out my R1300 review, that would be the ultimate tourer.
Mate you rode the same bike as me with the scratch in the tank
Nice hahaha, what did you think about the bike?
@@AusMoto I rode the 1300 Rally X like you too. The 1300 impressed on road and the 950 impressed off road. But they were both awesome on road or dirt.
I wonder how this stacks against the KTM 890 adv R
Need to get my hands on one. I've ridden the 790 Adv R and this felt more powerful and the suspension felt better but I'd be keen to give the 890 a crack and see how it goes.
Which bike did you enjoy more? This or it’s big brother 1300?
Hey mate, I enjoyed both for different reasons, but I’ll do a video talking about which one would suit me more and why
Ha ha probably a good thing to blot out the top speed. After riding the two would you ever see yourself buying one?
Yeah, the 1300 would be a mint bike to tour on two-up, but the price is just insane to think about paying at the moment, because I could buy 3 good bikes for the price of just that bike.
Was this a BMW organised group test ride?
Yeah mate, it was
14l petrol tank?
I think it’s 14.5l
Middleweight ?? not with 240 kg
I agree that the term middleweight doesn't line up here however in the ADV world, it seems the standard that this type of bike is considered a middleweight
King of the Middle weights for almost 20 thousand dollars!! These manufacturers are insane in their pricing. You can buy a great used car for that price! If you Stop buying. Then prices must be lowered!
Not much more expensive then the Jap stuff, unfortunately inflation has driven up the prices all across the board.
I've a BMW 2010 F800GS. Rode the new one, not interested. Still has vibes through the handlebars. I thought after 14 years they would have fixed that. All the youngies want all the tech. Ride the bike with no tech and find if you can ride.
I agree, I am not the biggest fan of tech, that's why I didn't delve into it much in the review.
The seat is only hard if you're wearing the wrong underwear. Get a pair of bike shorts/bike underpants with padding and the problem is solved. And you wont chafe on long tours either.
I’ll have to take a look at them. The main reason it was so apparent though was because I just came off the 1300gs which had the most comfortable seat ever.
I'm more than happy with my vstrom 800de it's better and cheaper
I'll need to try one and see!
