This is an amazingly informative video, thank you so much for its creation! It blew my mind! It's almost counter intuitive that we need to induce cell death to prolong life, but it's totally obvious now
haha perhaps the way I articulated it was counter intuitive.. but more what I mean is that promoting a robust and healthy apoptotic signaling network may remove precancerous lesions (before they have the opportunity to even more dangerous mutations) and therefore lower an organisms tumor burden.. it would readily catch and get rid of damaged/dangerous cells before they have the opportunity to divide more and produce even more added bad mutations and it’s simply more opportunities to turn into pre-tumors that really get out of control.. so the idea would be to promote robust signaling and sensing of these unhealthy cells to get rid of them so they dont turn into full blown cancers.. haha its just a theory but ive spoken to many PhD’s and they seem to find it interesting and it does explain some of the cancer data that I've been extremely curious about haha, but really I should have admitted there are still many many mysterious features of cancer that we still simply do not understand and cancer is very complex and is an extremely heterogenous disease and many exceptions and there is still a lot to learn!
Fantastic video👏 Thanks for sharing Given the mTOR’s role in sensing the energy status of the cell, it makes me wonder what voluntary control we have over our cell energy statuses. For example, I would be interested in knowing how meditative states affect a variet of cell energy statuses
Haha well, I hate telling people this because it’s sooo counter intuitive and people always role their eyes, but fasting and exercise are the best ways to blunt its activity... read online about health benefits of fasting on literally every chronic disease you can think of and you’ll find more literature on the topic than you could read in a life time! And again it’s one of the most reproducible findings that if you blunt mtor -> longevity
@@sciencesimplified3890 Thank you for bringing those up. I have heard a lot about each of their roles in longevity, but now I understand the connected on a deeper level. There is something about the mental/physical difficulty of both exercise and fasting that have short-term challenges with immense long-term benefit. I think there is something profound there that goes beyond exercise and fasting alone
Well, for a long time I was very skeptical about mindfulness and meditation.. however I kept seeing more than one leading experts on telomeres constantly supporting and showing there is a lottt of evidence that meditation and yoga extends telomeres... which is very very fascinating... surely mind state affects nervous system and hormones which communicates with all cells in the body... there is so so so much we still don’t know... but I’ve definitely have tried to spend more time meditating the science seems to be real
I’ve been slowly writing up and organizing a literature review and am in touch with a few high level anti-aging PhDs. At the moment my top priority is medical school but I have a few plans for the future on this topic!
Wonderful content. I'll say it once again: you've helped me acquire a better understanding of the sciences and I appreciate that so much. It's all so interesting. Keep it up 🙂🤌🏻
Welcome back! We have missed your amazing, educational videos.

Great video, very thorough. All the best for your journey.
You are back with more insightful videos 👏
So glad that there is a new video
Hello, I just stumbled upon this video. What about AMPK activators to decrease mTOR? Many AMPK activators are found in plant foods.
Fantastic video👏 Thanks for sharing

Are you currently conducting any research?
