I already commented this on the short, but you can easily add the Agile and Strong styles introduced by Legends Arceus to the presented battle (combat) mechanics.
Agile style increases initiative per turn and gives chance to use two moves in a row, but temporarily reduces attack damage (-40% = -2/5) and is rolled with disadvantage. Strong style, on the other hand, increases damage per turn (+60% = +3/5) and is rolled with advantage, but temporarily lowers initiative because Pokemon is more focused which in return gives the opponent the chance to attack twice in a row
Of course, this requires being able to keep up to date with its current initiative, because it affects the order of the attack in the current turn.
However, the Agile and Strong style can only be used if the Pokemon has mastered the move in question. It should also be pointed out that Strong Style costs double PP (power points that correspond to D&D's spell points but unlike in D&D, each moves has its own limited amount of PP and they don't increase by leveling up but with PP Up vitamins (by 20% = 2/10 of the original value per PP Up) or Pep-Up plants (by 10% = 1/10 of the original value per Pep-Up), the latter of which is my own variant to make the ingredient more useful; note that PP can only be increased up to the cap, which is defined separately for each move).

One battle style you forgot is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon style. Where you are the pokemon and you can have another pokemon in your party. Everyone gets their own actions

A more thematic way of phrasing capturing and leveling in D&D could be to use the terminology from turn-based strategy Pokemon conquest. There you link/bound with a Pokemon and increase the max link/bound (from 0% to 100%).
Pokemon conquest also has it so that not all warriors(Trainers) can get 100% link with every type of Pokemon. This mean that a water type warrior could not get there Dragonair to max link and can't get a Dragonite.
This could be used more for flavor so the players feel like they are a dragon trainer. And they are trained in dragon training.

I wonder how one would make the move dragon breath in D&D. Since that move always does 50 dmg. I guess you could always use 5 dice instead of changing it based on level.
