For those who might not know, UF cable may look like Romex (NM cable) on the outside but has a very different sheathing that's made for direct burial and being exposed to water. I say this because I've actually seen people bury Romex or put it in a pipe in a wet location. Overall, he did a good job with what he had to work with here. Now days with low voltage LED lights being so bright, most landscape lighting is done with Low voltage.
This is why i HATE YT videos. I have never yet met any contactor who is this proficient, honest, and clever!!! They make all these videos look simple!!! I need your help please!!! NE PA resident
@@jamisongillespie3524 i mean so many homeowner don't know how to do electrical. And some who are wanted to do it might want to see how it's done before doing anything by themselves.
@@jamisongillespie3524 i agree. electrical is not that dangerous as people think. If you know what are you doing. i installed many outlets and switches and i always look how to videos so i will have a idea how to do it properly. In video we will able to learn more better than reading electrical code.
I've got one of those in my yard, and it has never worked since we bought the house. There's no switches anywhere that turn it on or off, there's nothing marked in the breaker panel for it, and yet, there are wires in the post! How do I "trace" those wires back inside the house to find out where they go? Do I need to just replace everything from scratch, and treat it like a new install?
For about $15 they make a tool that detects electrical current just by being near it. Get on your cell phone with another person at your breaker box and have them turn each breaker off individually. Then let them know when they hit the right one. If you had an outlet attached, you could play a radio with loud volume. Then, listening to the radio, you could switch each breaker off and listen for the radio to die.
I'm guessing since it is hollow plastic and supports zero weight, if it got hit by a plow or branch it would snap in half if it were in cement. Being just in dirt, it might survive by bending over. Also, it does make it much easier to replace or move if you need to.
Would it be possible to get either Norm Abrams or Tom Sylva to build me a cross cut sled for my dewalt table saw. Please let me know. I would appreciate it.

I like how Heath tells it as it is. Well done!
The videographer deserves a high five with this episode. Great job!

the best contractor is you. No one will do a better job and you learn how it all works.

Can’t forget those safety glasses for pre drilling a hole 😂
😂 Heath did not hold back. That thing was a disaster
Finally some electrical vidoes. I love electrical video please upload some more
I think they don't cause they don't want to encourage homeowners to do their own electrical

Electrical work isn’t a hobby, it’s dangerous.
@@electricianron_New_Jersey it can be dangerous, but it's not difficult to do well. It's better to teach people the right way to do things.

This clip wasn't about replacing a lamp post it was all about Chloe.
Yes, always, always pet the pooches. They'd clearly pat your head. Dogs are so, so patient--wish I had more! Good girl, Chloe.
Kind of hard to believe you don't need cement to keep that post upright for a long time.
Roy ... my mailbox has been perfectly straight for 40 years with no cement. Also, no water (drainage) means no frost heave.
Looks like a realtor for sale post.
When's Kevin gonna start catching on? LOL
Man Scott sure looks different. I'm glad he finally grew some hair.
When this man says "we" are fixing it up, is he referring to the dog, or another person?
probably the dog.
Woof!!!

Great job👍👍👍
Where can you buy this Post and Light
I was wondering why they didn't use cement when they put the post in the ground, seems like it wouldn't be sturdy enough?

@@matthewjurkiewicz Makes sense, thanks
not really sure why you only had the address on one side of the sign?
Maybe it's on a one way street and thus cars will always be coming from that side.
That's what the dog wanted, it's her house she makes the rules
Only dirt?
Getting real serial killer vibes at the beginning of this social interaction.

Anyone know where I could get this lamp post? I'm searching for exactly what they installed - lamp post with the combination address sign.

Dog
Looks like a labradoodle.
That has to be one of the ugliest fixtures they could've put on that post.
