Yeah, I agree. I have a house at Incline Village but haven't visited in 3 years. I'm hoping to make it there in the fall this year. But I agree there's way too many visitors now; going from Incline Village to Tahoe City in the middle of summer or during a three day holiday can take as long as an hour. It's usually a 20 minute drive. And if you want to go to Sand Harbor you need to get there before anybody else wakes up; trying to get from Incline Village to South Lake Tahoe between 8 and 9 am is like going through I-5 in LA.

I have lived in Reno since I was a kid. I’ve been to Tahoe many times even swam in the lake every year. Make no mistake about it most people that drown are because of alcohol or just bad luck. And ya the water is cold and can cause shock if you are not used to it. There is no reason for a responsible adult to be afraid of this lake. Now Pyramid lake is a different story all together.

I have lived in the Tahoe area for 60 years. I have done over 400 SCUBA dives in Lake Tahoe. I have dove down to 400 feet in Tahoe. I have studied a lot of the history of the Tahoe and Comstock area. The lake is cold and at high altitude. Most people that drown are affected by the cold and not use to the lower PPO2 so they get tired quickly. Add alcohol to the mix and you increase the chances of drowning. Since the water is cold, the bodies sink and do not decompose the same way like in warm water lakes. They do not produce the gases that let the bodies float up. If a body sank in the lake, it would sink to the bottom and get covered up with silt. It would also be a food source. The diver that was lost at Rubicon Point that was recovered years later, was stuck on the Rubicon wall and did not go to the bottom. We offered to go and get the diver, but the Sherriffs office would not approve the dive. Our group was trained in Tech diving.
Most of the stuff in this video is false stories that have been "floating" around for years. At least he got a lot of views!

How do you dive at high altitudes? Do you use Nitrox, and have to compress before you go in, or do you have to take extra O2 down with you for the same time period you would if you were diving at lower elevation?
Seeing as Taho is on the same line as Superior, you'd think that the temperature would dictate a cold temperature heated suit. Combine that with the high elevation, you are not getting the same quality and time period for your dives in your O2 tanks that you are in lower elevations. I'm not understanding how these issues are being ignored by people. Are they not told, don't know, or is it just ignored?

Definitely a place worth visiting. But definitely be water safe out there. Just because you may know how to swim, doesn’t mean things can’t happen out of your control. Be safe and be smart. And for god sakes, if you do any cliff diving, know what you’re doing. Far too many lives are lost for the thrill of jumping off cliffs. And yeah, if you're going there to party and leave trash or disrespect the area in any way..... Stay home! It's beautiful and we want it to stay that way.

Camped at Sugar Pine Point alot growing up and swam in Lake Tahoe. When I was old enough I would swim out to the buoys where it was very deep until one day I felt something brush past my leg and it was not a small fish. I swam like crazy back to shore and from then on would just float on a mattress close to shore. The water in the lake is so cold that your body just goes numb if you stay in for too long and then when you get out it takes a while to warm up again, and that's in the summer. One summer my family and I were relaxing on the beach at Sugar Pine Point when a gentleman fell out of inflatable boat and died. It was very sad, he was there with his family. My friend was camping with her family at same campground and they were there at the beach when it happened. Her father was a SF Fireman and he rendered aid but it was too late. He speculated that the man's heart could not handle the shock he experienced upon falling into the very cold water.

I was looking off the back of the boat and I kid you not about 100 ft. behind the boat a tail that looked almost like a whale/dolphin tail came out of the water and quickly went back down. It freaked me out because I grew up at the beach in So Cal and have seen this in the ocean, but never thought I'd see that in a lake. Ok, here’s a good story that took place at Lake Tahoe in 1922. My father, at the age of four, fell off a dock and sank to the bottom, which can’t have been too deep. He remembered sitting calmly on the bottom looking up at the light, and seeing his father and another man diving in and swimming down to get him. They were astonished to find that my father was perfectly fine and not traumatized by the experience. For the short time he’d sat on the bottom, he’d been slowly drinking the water, rather than panicking. He found the experience more interesting than anything else. My dad was a career officer in the USAF, and served on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. 🙂

My father happened to come home and pulled me out before beating the crap out of my uncle. For many years I thought it was a dream but when I was in my late 30's, he brought up the incident, which I had never told anyone about, and I realized it wasn't a dream. I mentioned it to my other uncles, and they claimed it never happened which came across as chicken shit response but they wanted to defend their little brother because he had died in his late 20's and they felt it was appropriate to lie about how rotten he was.

He said it looked at him, blew water vapor out of its nose and dove back under water. He said the creature was not trying to attack him and just looked at him for a moment with a look of curiosity before swimming away. He said he would never go swimming in Tahoe again.

In 1989, due to an extreme drought,Lake Tahoe was at one of it’s lowest levels in it’s documented history. I spent the entire summer there that year, working as a Day-camp counselor for a local youth group. The water was so much warmer than I had ever experienced. We literally walked 1/2 a mile straight into the lake and the water depth never went above our chest.
During the first part of the summer, the body of a well preserved woman, dressed in Victorian style clothing, was discovered on a popular beach. (She had floated up when the water had warmed to a record temperature.)
She ended up being a young woman who fell from a large steamboat/paddle wheel gambling ship, in 1860’s! It took a few weeks to identify her but it was such a great mystery, that even without the existence of the internet, locals searched the archives of newspapers in print and for that era and found the story, as well as an actual photo of the missing woman!
Crazy that there are so many more bodies down in the deepest depths of the lake. It’s really a beautiful place to visit. I visit there very often and the surrounding areas have lots of great outdoor activities as well.

I lived in the Lake Tahoe area for quite a few years, and I am quite well versed on Lake Tahoe history, so hearing about a "a large steamboat/paddle wheel gambling ship, in 1860’s!" is news to me. Do you have a name to go with that ship? I just happen to know that the only true industry in the Lake Tahoe area was lumber, in fact by the 1860's over 80% of the Lake Tahoe region had been logged out with the trees sent to Virginia City. Tahoe really didn't become a true tourist spot until the rail road was built in 1869, and even then, tourism didn't really start taking off until the 1880's. But even with that I have not been able to find any mention of a large steamboat/paddle wheel gambling ship that used to sail the blue waters of Tahoe. Now over the history of Lake Tahoe there has been a large number of steam ships that have traveled the lake, so maybe you are talking about the famous S.S. Tahoe, she was one of the largest steamships to ever travel the lake. But with a length of 169 feet and a width of only 17 feet, she was not exactly super large, nor was she a paddle wheel gambling ship. And, she wasn't launched until 1896, again not anywhere close to your 1860's time period.
For all the years that I had lived in the Tahoe area, I heard all the stories as well, fully preserved cowboys washing up from the deep dark depths of Tahoe. The Lake Tahoe version of the Lock Ness monster, named Tahoe Tessie. Mass graves of mobsters, from the 1950's and on, sent to sleep with the fishes. Mysterious tunnels that connect Lake Tahoe to other lakes around the country, and so on.... All bullshit. Do yourself a favor, try to look up those stories in official publications, I bet that you will find that none of it is true.

Not mentioned is the Capt's Ghost of Fanette Island in Emerald Bay. Heard the stories about "bodies dressed in 1late 1800-early 1900 clothing all talked about" and all debunked.
You want "Haunted"? Take the Forest Service road up to Fountain Place, a cattle ranch south of Pioneer Trail Rd. THAT place will make you hair stand on end if you are sensitive to paranormal stuff.
You want history? Visit the Tallac Historic Site formerly summer homes of the very wealthy just north of Camp Richardson.
Why was train video of obviously an EUROPEAN train used instead of the Tahoe Valley Railway owned by DL Bliss for logging the Tahoe Basin? The last serving locomotive from the at RR is in Carson City, I knew a man whose DAD was fireman then engineer on that Locomotive. When Bliss pulled out he bought 1600 acres of land in Tahoe Valley and started the Tahoe Valley Dairy.
My neighbors were casino owners so am well aware of hearing Mafia stories.

Funny how it's always a triangle... especially when you come to Christ, learn about the occult and all their shennanigans... evil seems to brew in certain areas of the world. They say the Pyramids, not just Egypy, but all of them in the World from Egypt to China and Russia are on "leylines" or lines that have a lot of natural energy from the Earth.
Idk if any of that is true, but i know the Pyramid and the all seeing eye crap is 100% satanic, and the Bible says Satan is the "prince of the power of the AIR" despite the world pop culture thought of a pitchfork wielding, horned devil with a tail in the center of the Earth.
Scripture paints a very different and much more accurate picture. It mentions how the sons of God came down to mate with the daughters of man, and giants were born from this unholy joining. Then God had to flood it. Then i see Egypt and their stone and copper tools, their botched attempt to recreate the pyramids, and i have to say... it sure looks like we had an ancient, very intelligent society that spanned the entire planet, but was then flooded away and mostly lost to time. . .
Makes a man really start to piece this thing called "LIFE" together.

I am extremely fascinated with the possibility of an underwater tunnel system that connects Lake Tahoe with Pyramid Lake.

From my understanding there is a network of underwater tunnels & caverns (some potentially traversable but exceptionally deep & dangerously long with current) that reportedly connect to other local (and not so local) lakes, these underwater tunnels honeycomb & branch out underneath the surounding lakes surface area and from the believable word of a diving associate that has observed several unusual aquatic animals in Lake Tahoe that he was not able to identify,in particular encountering a small group of fish that were long (10-15') thin (3"-4") and fast-moving that were definitely 'NOT' Eels that swam past him in a hurry.
He says they were similar to a 'Ribbon fish'.
He did not mention any large serpent like creatures, but said "anything is possible".

Know what’s sad? All the locals saying “don’t come here” I’ve visited Lake Tahoe since the 1970’s. Skiing at Sierra and Heavenly. Snowboarding at Squaw. Camping and riding horses as a kid at Camp Richardson. Ogling the cocktail waitresses in their togas at Caesar’s in the early 1980’s at age 12. Eating ribs at Carlos Murphy’s. Heck my 5 year old kid brother barfed pina colada in the elevator at Harvey’s months before that crazy dude blew the Top of the Wheel off the top of the building in 1980. Without tourism there would be no Lake Tahoe (the town) And 90% of those commenting knew what it is before moving/ buying property there. It’s been a tourist spot FOREVER. As a native Californian (who’s lived elsewhere since 2016) it doesn’t take long to figure out why the rest of the country feels like too many Californians need a tuneup in the manners department. Sad. My home state was beautiful. And full of nice people. What happened???😞

I've been to Lake Tahoe dozens of times. I've swam in the lake and played on the beach. Heck, I even lived there for a year.
That there are bodies in the lake wouldn't surprise me. That there's a monster of some kind would. I've never heard those stories.

May or may not have known a “lady of the night” who worked the hotels in the area and ironically she was also called Tahoe Tessie….or maybe it was “That Ho Tessie”, I’m not sure. Either way she was neither elusive or lacking in photographic evidence. Many cell phone videos exist of Her.

You probably should have taken it. Property values have gone up like crazy, and almost everything in this video is bullshit. Tahoe is gorgeous. This video is intentionally disingenuous, he says things in the voiceover that don't even match what he displays on screen... the article from the RGJ, he only shows the beginning of where it restates the rumor, and not the bottom of the article that debunks it. Dude tried really hard to make a normal lake "creepy"

    • @deedeetyson9723

In the lake and on land.
One day I got stuck under a boat for about a minute (thought I was gonna die) I felt what I can explain a slimy tail wrap around my leg. Mind I am in the middle of the lake and it's deep.. there was no rocks or any sort of fungi near me.... just me and what ever grabbed my leg in the deep open space of the lake.
On land, I was hiking and I saw this milky white humanoid figure with only legs and no upper body coming up the mountain at me and it made a sound I have never heard before in my entire life... no words to describe it. The texture of it was something I never seen. It's bein felt beyond me. Not ghostly or crypted like.... just incredibly disturbing mixed with complexity. What freaks me out more is it is recorded there is a preserved dead elephant at the bottom of the lake.
