Is there a difference between the auxiliary view and true shape? I thought the auxiliary view included the other parts of the block viewed from that elevated angle.

An auxiliary view is used to show the true shape of a feature of a drawing that is not visible in the normal drawing views. If the background information is present it is a complete auxiliary view, if it is only showing the true shape region it is simply a partial auxiliary view :)
