Yes, I keep that portrait of Martin Scorsese on my night stand. Jokes aside - I hope you enjoyed. As always, feel free to subscribe - not only are you in for some really exciting videos, but if we hit 1000 subscribers my parents will finally be proud of me. "It actually worked!" It works because disciples and historians like you MAKE these things happen, and we love you because of this dedication! Another excellent video!
Man you make some amazing videos, this one included. I love the homemade stuff. Maybe you could talk about the movies of the german expressionism as theyre really great.
I’ve always been looking for this term, especially when I’ve always seen this shot transition plenty of times, especially in American animated short films or cartoons.
Surprised this doesn't even have a thousand views, good editing and very informative, not to mention brief. Googled the exact question of origin and got my exact answer. Thanks boss
Is that what they do in Over the Garden Wall? But they don't use it as a transition shot? I've also seen a few old Mickey Mouse cartoons where they do the same. The shot is just circled and then they just cut back to a regular framed shot. I'm looking it up and I keep on finding this concept of the iris shot, but always only as a transition so I'm not sure if they're the same thing or not

Awww thank you so much, I really appreciate it. Never thought of myself as a historian - more of an enthusiast, but I'm happy you enjoyed nonetheless!

I'd love to! Anything in particular you think would be interesting? And thank you!
@@TonisFilmClub Maybe the visual effects of Metropolis, Caligari, Nosferatu etc.
Good stuff - added to my "to-do" :)
@@RealHazelnut I love "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari"! Using colour before colour footage was used in film.
@@deteon1418 I love it for its setting and sets but the colour effects for the time of day also add a lot to it.

Same - I remember seeing it in pretty much every WB cartoon as a kid.
Excellent!
Happy you enjoyed!

Ah, at least it shows up on Google lol
But hey, quality over quantity and hopefully the numbers will come in as well. Happy you enjoyed.
Delightful piece.

It’s all fun and games until someone re-creates the James Bond iris shot.
Now I really want a Christopher Nolan Bond movie with a practical gun barrel sequence.
@@TonisFilmClub haha! Many waivers will be signed…
