Voice-chat is one of the functions I use the most on XBox Live... I sure do hope they will add universal achievement system in the future; the whole point of gamerscore/trophy is for players to compare dedication and accomplishments as a whole in one glance, rather than comparing individual games. I've seen a lot of people claiming that "no one cares" about achievements, but trust me, I work at a gaming store, the majority of gamers cares a LOT. Other than that, Wii U online looks fantastic.
This is awesome and yet innovating for the social and online network! Great job for integrating all of this together and allowing it to be simple as shown in the video!
I really want Miiverse back because I want to see comments on people's Mario Maker 1 courses, See comments on Super Mario 3D World and see ghost Miis, See some Miiverse posts at the background on the Miiverse stage in SSB4, And share and view stage builder stages, and see games and stuff in the Wii U home menu... ☹️ Please Nintendo... I've had my Wii U stopped working since June 2017 and got it back working on October 28th (My Birthday) 2019 and I bet I have a whole lot of notifications! I want everything on the Wii U and 3DS back to normal!
This was a good presentation! Bill Trinen and the japanese man were both down to earth and it was refreshing to see after all the obviously acting and smiling families. I see why you'd try to show us people having fun but it just isn't fooling anyone and makes me feel awkward. Down to earth and some humour is the way to go guys and you really nailed it with this one. Please try to focus on this style more in the future!
I know seeing the game being played on the second screen while tv is on has been shown before but seeing it in action like this has got me so hyped!I think people are taking for granted just how cool and inovative this feature is.I cant wait
I want the Miiverse NX to be separate from the Wii U. Start over with it Nintendo. Delete the update and other updates that made Miiverse horrible. Listen to us fans! At least make a random Miiverse discussion community for us! Oh and let the admins be less strict!
"As you can see in the video, Miiverse can prevent spoiler content from being displayed immediately. People who are posting the comment can mark their post as spoilers, and there is also an automated feature which will mark specific posts as spoiler content, if enough players flag it as being so." This is what we call our "closing the stable door after the horse has bolted" policy.
That too, though I can understand. Reggie's background is in marketing so I can understand him having a certain poise that sort of shuts out the little humanizing elements (for lack of a better description) that most people exhibit when trying to present/promote something. I would also agree that by comparison those like Iwata are more down to earth and probably more relatable because of their mannerisms, like you said, with the unboxing video as an example.
yes please try to stick to this type of video more often its just that you can relate much easier this way rather than with a bunch of actors also i love how you nintendo is making these translated videos keep up the good work
Yeah, it baffled me when I first learned that in a Japanese class many moons ago. I don't have much Japanese computing experience, but it seems like kanji are automatically implemented, kinda like auto-correct. Also, it makes a bit more sense if you think about it: all programming is done in English, and they learn English as a second language, so it's easier that way also.
There are achievements (I think they're called "Accomplishments"), but they aren't mandatory for game developers to put in. I assume most games for multiple platforms will probably put them in anyway, if they already have them designed for the 360/PS3. They do have video chat, and I assume at some point in the future they might make it support over 2 people, but right now there aren't any details.
@PsychoJosh Its not about caring or not little dude. Its about the game being on the wii u,with additional features not found on any other version, and that will be enough for people to be excited for the game
True, but those might be added later. I hardly use voice-chat when I play games, and there are "Accomplishments" where it's up to the developers to include them rather than making it a requirement.
At Game(UK) and Gamestop(US), they have Wii U demos up now. :') I played it yesterday. The controller was weird at first, but then I was like... well I couldn't react because I was so blown away at how comfortable the controller was to hold it when I finally figured out how to hold it right.
Achievements aren't necessary seeing as they don't add anything to a game other than extra text telling you what you've done/haven't done. A good game is a good game with or without achievements. Unlockables however are a welcome addition.
HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED THAT! Not only is he LOOKING at a orange but also HOLDING a orange . MINDBLOWING ! Just for that i gave you thumbs up just cause your awesome. =)
Google Translate does this too when you turn on phonetic typing. Since there are way too many characters in the Japanese language to fit on a keyboard, Japanese typists have to use the English way of spelling each character, or "romanized" spelling, in order to create each symbol. The programming in the computer (or game system in this case) can then convert all the English letters into their respective Japanese symbols, making it a bit easier to read in the Japanese language. ;)
Those will or can come eventually. They did say that not every feature will be available at launch and the PS3/360 didn't have all of those features at launch, either. It took them time to get as amazing as they are, likewise it'll take time for Nintendo's to get amazing as well.
actually achievments / trophies etc. is a good thing for both developers for boosting the sells a bit for there games even if it gets old; and give a bit of fun for gamers especially for trophies / achievements hunters it also help giving a replay value for even the worst games out there, peoples bought or rent bad games like hanna montana the video game just for the achievments or in ps3 case easy platinums to added to your collection, who knows nintendo might do something like that for Wii U.
Love Bill's take on the Iwata giving the Bananas a good stare with a different fruit to stare at. I'm waiting for the Pineapple stare-down next. Might as well keep it to warm climate (tropical) fruits.
Well, hopefully with updates, they might add it later. Also games will have achievements if the developer wants them, but it is not system wide. Hopefully they will add it later, like PS3 did.
I dont know if we can say that anymore, since the Wii U is also getting BO2, Nintendo is getting the best of 3rd parties, and also the best 1st parties we all love, Nintnedo has become the perfect videogame company!
i think it will, ps3 & 360 already did this stuff so why not Wii U :) for example the ps3 now have it's own youtube application some games like weekly toro station , odd world stranger's wrath HD etc. have the option to record your gameplay, so you can record a whole walkthrough then edit it on the ps3's movie editor and then you can keep it on your ps3's HDD or upload it to your youtube account from the ps3 without even the need for a PC i hope all the next generation games have that option.
Seen as nothing much first party is confirmed past Q1, I am fairly confident that we will be getting a big release - I'me betting on it being metroid seen as retro have been quiet for a while and the hardware seems too perfect a first person metroid
Wow, with the Wii U's launch so close, people have answered nearly all the questions I have about it! Except for one... Why was he so engaged with and intrigued by that orange?
I do hope a new Custom Robo comes out. F-Zero series unfortunately ended, but perhaps a reboot is in order? They already made a new Sin & Punishment for the Wii, but I am hoping for more.
The $80 hard drive that you're referring to is for those who want to purchase full Wii U titles as a digital download. I don't think it's absolutely dumb at all... I see it as an optional choice. In case if there's a Wii U title that's been sold out (i.e. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate or a new Retro Studios title), you can always go for a digital downloadable game and add it onto the external hard drive.
@jarvis1st Flash is on its way out. Most things are switching to HTML5. Nintendo made the right choice in going with the present and future not the past which is flash.
Yes, maybe because typing kana is easier using roman letters than typing roman letters using kana. That way Japanese people can type roman letters if they want to. (I don't really know, it's just a supposition.)
The orange is a joke on something that Iwata did during the Nintendo press conference at this year's E3. When it returned from a video, Iwata was holding and looking at a bunch of bananas, then placed them down to continue talking. It was really weird.
Bill is the most awkward spokesperson for Nintendo ever since his early days at E3 where he was translating Miyamoto playing Twilight Princess. But he is living my dream so I cant hate
A 250GB HDD is like $40 or less. And remember that if they added one into the system itself, the price would most likely go up 60-70 dollars anyways for the same amount of space.
Actually I found it pretty useful, words can be said more quickly via voice chat rather than typing. Not only that but being in 2012, it's the most efficient way to communicate with friends online (hence why skype is so popular). We can understand emotions like excitement and sarcasm with ease, overall it just makes an online experience that much more fun. So why is it excluded? Why do Nintendo always restrict online capabilities?
Not a clue. I'm waiting until Christmas anyway. When into my local game shop, pre-ordered it then gave the pre-order slip to Mum. Quite ingenious I thought.

Why won't Miiverse be named "UMiiverse" 1- A universe of Miis. 2- For the Wii U.
I know. But, if they were forced to change the name, wouldn't UMiiverse be the best option?
it's also on 3ds so it wouldn't make sense
For the 3DS it can be Miiverse, but all I'm saying is that a good substitute name for Miiverse on Wii U is UMiiverse
