I started mowing my two acre lawn weekly this year instead of biweekly. I also raised my deck to 3" and my lawn looks much better.

It's the same way down here South of you Jason. I'm one of those 'retirees' you mentioned and am retired military. My yard and lawn is always in tip top shape!
Having it that way won me the yard of the quarter for my 'ward'as they call it in my city. Hopefully at the end of Sept I'll get yard of the year award as well.
I have that neighbor next door who does just about nothing to his yard except scalp his Bermuda sod (used to be sod) so when the mower hits high spot and stops his push mower in it's tracks. A 500 lb lazy hard headed German that's supposed to be a CFO somewhere at a car part mfg for German cars around here. A master at numbers but can't figure out the mower deck height numbers listed on it or use a slide ruler and check the deck height. Go figure,
The rest of his yard is a disaster and my HOA is finally sending out the infractions letters.
I use a 30" Exmark walk behind (newer model) and bag the clippings. I fertilize and care for the lawn enough where the mulching of clippings really doesn't matter. I'd rather not mulch so I don't have that thatch build up to worry about either.
Many home owners in my 'hood' have yard companies like yourself maintaining the yard. Those homeowners that have them won't ever win the Yard of the quarter because the home owner utilizes a professional company to do it. I can say that the 4 hours it takes me to maintain 5400sqft of lawn and over 25 varieties of shrubs, trees, plants and flowers looks a helluva lot better than those 'speed demon' yard 'professionals.'
Those zero turn mowers were the worst damn thing they could've given these yard care professionals or the homeowner. That John Deere commercial stating it's not how fast you mow, it how well you mow fast nonsense is ridiculous. Jokers running those 0 turns like their in a NASCAR race.
Racing across the grass pushing it over and whacking the grass results arent like a slower cut allowing the grass to be standing vertical and cut evenly because the blade used is doing it's job by vacuuming up the grass and cutting it and not whacking it like a wild man with a machete, similar to the o turn 'speed demon' yard professionals.
The statement of mowing the Bermuda in different directions every cut is spot on information and DOES matter. Since that sign was in my yard for 3 months, the other neighbors have been noticed cutting their Bermuda in all kinds of directions. That's all fine and dandy as long as the have a weed prevention and fertilizing regime the use ALL year long until the next Spring when my lawn wakes up a week faster than the plain old once a week lawn whacker without any program in place.
I wish UA-cam had a place to add images so I could post my results compared to the 'speed demons' or the neighbor who butcher's every 2 weeks. Oh well, no big deal. I just put out my fall application (last for the season) which is a special turf blend from my local co-op consisting of a 25-4-8+(2% iron). My commercial lawn care company will put out their last fall post emergent or 'winter application' in late October down here.
Next year as I stated in your other videos, the GR will be used next year along with the fertilizer regime so the mowing is cut down by 50%. The only issue I have with the GR is it's only sold in gallon or more quantities and only using a max of 7 oz during a growing season leaves me with a lot of wasted GR if it's shelf life is only 1 year. Gotta see if it can be saved for longer duration's or see if the company in GA that sells it can sell it in smaller quantities.
Anyway, get your tail out there and get those yards done at 15-20 mph on those 0 turns when it should be mowed with a walk behind (on smaller goat sized lots).
    Roll Tide!

    Your best video yet, thanks.
One more thing: homeowners may not have the correct nozzles in their sprinkler rotors. Quarter circles need to put out half the rate of a semicircle. Many people have the same nozzles in every rotor. They all rotate at the same speed. A quarter circle will get twice the coverage of a semicircle. They end up with great looking healthy corners and yellow spots in the middle of their yards.

The neighbor having greener grass seems to tap in to a deep, highly motivating, instinct for everyone. Same as if I come home from work and hear a lawn mower in my neighborhood, I instantly feel the need to mow mine immediately. Were I running a lawn care business, I would exploit this instinct in the marketing strategy.

    “One lawn and no hobbies”

      @unclesnappy6541 6 років тому

That isn't always true. I enjoy many hobbies and still enjoy the HOA Domination.
I'm not out in the yard every day. 2 times a week is plenty. Once I apply the GR on the lawn next season, the 2 times a week will be 2 times a month on the lawn and the shrubs and edging will be the only 2 weeks at a time labor as well.

I find it funny how you guys shrug off push mowing. That's all I do and and most lawn companies. Most yards are small city lots and that's all you can use. Only place ppl use ride on stuff is on acreages. It's weird sometimes how all the lawns in the states are massive and need ride on. It's like no one lives in a city or has small or average yards.

Jonathan Doble Jonathan Doble Other than an acreage I had, I’ve always pushed mowed for the exercise. Will jerk the slack right out of you! 😂
