The Yamaha DTX M12 Multi Pad is a powerful, all-in-one percussion pad that suits anyone from a beginner to an expert, accommodating different levels of playing, a wide variety of playing styles and performance situations. DTX-MULTI 12 equips the 12 pads which are easy to be distinguished even at the dark stage. You can use the DTX-MULTI 12 in a variety of ways, such as using the percussion pad in combination with acoustic drums and percussion to accent music with a rich variety of voices, transferring data to the connected computer where you can compose music with the included "Cubase AI 5" program, and connecting a kick pedal (sold separately) to create as a compact drum set.

Yamaha have a reputation based in their amazing innovation capacity, the opposite as Gibson were their past glory days is the only thing remaining. I give my money to Yamaha.

Mine will be delivered Monday. I'm hoping I don't have to whack it as hard as demonstrated. It has to be returned if so. 45 day trial per Guitar Center. Yipes!

I've played drums since age 7 but I am not a mathematician so this unit is very daunting in that aspect,I see good ordinary drummers use it but are much more adept at the button pushing than the playing lol.

This is going to make me have to buy an apple product for the first time
16:30 - I'm still trying to get the "save all the settings on here and load em back into the M12 and away you go..." to happen. I'm able to save the kit and sounds / but the actual stick velocity etc settings don't seem to transfer over. I'm kinda stuck with this spongy pad that doesn't react in any acceptable form for my drummer. Any ideas? I want to love this thing! Help me understand what I'm not doing - or let me in the secret - if it only works higher level settings. : )
Great review...thanks! How good are the drum kit sounds... in comparison with the RolandSPD30? What about the feel dynamic range and the feel of the pads? I really want to get once of these for my studio set up... but am hesitating between the Yamaha and the Roland... :)

I've got the latest versions of octapad, handsonic, and ez drummer, but really want something that can use sticks and hands like this all in one. Just don't know if I can pull the trigger on something with this dated of a menu system and feel like I would really need ezdrummer setup to get the kit sounds I want. Come on. Yamaha, release an updated model!
thinking about getting this for a mini drum kit, is it still worth it to buy in 2023? or are they gonna make a new updated one?
Finally he answered my question which I had been searching so long for.. Been looking for a pad that will work as a tap tempo for me to set the metronome click on the fly while playing.. Finally I know the DTX Multi 12 can do that! Love it. Glad I stuck to DTX... Just waiting for an upgrade to the DTX900 module...
I've heard there is an issue with cross talk or "X talk" with these.. didn't seem to be an issue for you but have you heard of this or seen any issues in that regard?
Great video! I’ve been interested in Yamaha DTX Multi 12 for quite some time now. I was just about to order one but I need a very important question answered first. I know that it’s capable of so much more, but I plan to use it only as a drum kit. I’m now in a situation where there is a physcial space and volume limitation. There’s not enough space for an electronic drum kit. Plus, it would be great to just walk in with this pad, a stand, and a foot and hi hat controller.
QUESTION:
When the Yamaha DTX Multi 12 is used as/like a drum kit, is the hi hat able to be played/controlled closed, half open and sloshy? Or is it just closed or fully open?
I know you played it and opened and closed the hi hat but because of the groove you were playing, I could not hear if the hi hat could play closed, open, and everything in between. I’ll order one RIGHT NOW if the hi hat can be played/controlled like a hi hat.

Good question, I assume it does. Did you end up buying and find out or still on the fence. I’m considering this or the Roland SPD-20, as I have good experiences with their V-Drums

Now: I want to improve my life as a drummer. Can I program percussion loop on the fly (i.e.during live performances) and start/stop them? Much like a loop pedal. Not interested in preset loop, or importing my own. They must be done on the spot and be directly loopable.

@@Autofill120 Close. Except we apparently have to go through the step of DTX "asking if I want to assign it to a pad". I want the recording to continue looping immediately as soon as I hit Stop. No gaps.

Too bad there's no M12 app for iPhone. Sort of a dealbreaker if I were to get the DTX Multi to add percussion and loops in a jazz trio setting.

Good Afternoon, I am searching for an information about a specific feature regarding Yamaha DTX-Multi 12. I would like to know if it is possible loading on the device and launching pre-recorded backing tracks through one of the 9 pads. I couldn’t find any answer about it yet.

What kind of speakers do you have to play with dtx?
Hallo, thank you for great video! I have one question regarding changing the orders of the presets.
For example, by standard factory settings the orders of presents is going like:
1. P001: PercMaster
2. P002: 80e Electro
3. P003: Sweet RnB
4. P004: Tabla Hand
5. P005: Conga Hand etc…
So, let’s say I would like to have this order by clicking “-“ and “+” buttons to the right or to the left:
1. Sweet RnB
2. Conga Hand
3. Perc Master
4. 80s Electro
5. Tabla Hand
May I kindly ask you to help me with step by step explanation how may I reach my goal?

Anyone know how to copy a sound from a pad on a preset kit to a new custom users kit? I know how to copy the whole preset kit, but looking for an individual pad sound.

They need to update the this unit to compete with the Roland SPD-SX. Combine this with the SPD-SX, then you'll be on to a winner. But yamaha for the love of god, could you please make navigating the menu a bit more intuitive. Thank you.
just adding a comparable amount of sampling memory would be enough, to be honest
It's HALF THE PRICE of the Roland... what do you expect? They could upgrade to compete, but then it would put it out of the price range of many people.

I just bought one a couple days ago, it's incredible for recording as well. I paid $690.00 for it with a set of drum sticks.
dleifmon just got one on Friday. But I can't get the girl hats to work as a traditional hi hat. That is open and close when I strict the pad. Can someone please help.

A bit of a dinosaur (ergonomics/memory) but in therms of functionality (12 pads with finger drumming) still a great piece of kit. Oh I forgot to mention time stretching!

the interface cant keep up with al the features.
there is absolute no logica in the interface.
its just a bunch of randomly placed cheap feeling buttons.
seriously the worst ive ever seen.
it reminds me of cheap ass car stereos but than worse.
