      It sounds funny but now that I have a CNC machine I’m realizing that I’m going to need to re think the way I build things, now I can key parts together for alignment, cut perfect bolt patterns and slot stuff a lot easier then before. I’m excited to get building!

      Yes I think you could get some good use out of a table like this. I’m starting to think about building things different now, It makes cutting slots, bolt patterns, circles and keying parts so they nest together a whole lot easier, It’s a new world of fabrication 🙂

      Right on Keith it’s definitely a game changer! It’s really been useful in my shop, I don’t think I would have taken on that 4x4 articulating dump truck without my Crossfire CNC table, I wouldn’t have had enough free time to justify building it. If you have any questions about the table, programs or cut speeds let me know and I can try to answer them for you.
      I really would like to make a video on all those things I just mentioned, I just don’t think most of my subscribers would really be interested in it but it would help people out that get these tables. Thanks for using my promo link! Take care 👍

    HI.Been following your build plasma track video and when we came to how to power the screw i found a couple of golf caddies i bought for very low bucks. These have a motor that makes a battery drill look like a joke and use 12v. They also have the switches and speed controllers included so its simple to and very cheep to modify them to incorporate in a plasma track. Two old and working golf carts cost me under 30 usd.. I would appear that you get what you need in an old golf cart.....time will tell.

    I know this video is old , but anyone bad mouthing a Vulcan pro tig , 200 or 205 , is off their rocker. I bought the 200 when it first came out , I ended up melting the torch running non stop on 1/4 inch aluminum plate for 35-40 minutes. I went in to try and get my torch replaced , rather than give me a 50 dollar torch , I received a brand new welder. Mine came with a 1 year money back guaranteed warranty. And I paid 150 for the additional 3 year warranty beyond that .
    I recently upgraded to the 205 , and love this machine. My buddy bought the heavily used 200 . He was also welding 1/4 inch plate wide open at 200a with it , and although it sputtered lightly after about 20-25 minutes , it never overloaded “something he said his alpha tig would’ve done within 5 minutes of welding on the same material at same amperage .
    I found this video because I just picked up the titanium 45 , and I do believe I’ll be buying this table as well , after watching this !
    Excellent content

    Do you have any plans to do a feature comparison between the Titanium plasma and the older Chicago Electric plasma? Other than a few amps, I can't really find any specific feature comparison. I currently have the Chicago Electric, so I'm wondering what (if anything) about the Titanium would justify spending the money to upgrade from the Chicago Electric to the Titanium. Also, I saw someone mention below that they heard there would also be a Vulcan plasma coming out in January. I have not heard that, have you heard anything about it? If so, I wonder what the difference between the Titanium and Vulcan plasma cutters would be.

    If you haven't purchased Mach 3 you might want to hold off, as Langmuir is releasing their own controller software called FireControl when they start shipping the Pro tables. It's free and will work with the older tables. The quote below is from here (forum.langmuirsystems.com/t/pro-electronics-software-and-thc-upgrade/5883 ) you may not have access to the post if you are not in on the Pro preorder.
    FireControl
    The main benefit of the CrossFire Gen 2 System is FREE, cross-platform, plasma-specific control software with a modern user interface and ongoing support and development. The Gen 2 control software, FireControl, is designed and developed by Langmuir Systems specifically for CNC plasma cutting on the CrossFire and CrossFire PRO.

    Have there been 'issues ' you faced prior to making your first cut?
    I am having an issue with the post process, which post process should I be using/ what do you recommend. The only one that seems to print out the g code correctly is the Jet post process I've even used your firecontrol post and it doesn't work neither does your firecontrol controls. The only thing I have to do is add the M50 and the M51(but the M51 stops everything like an M00 instead of just shutting off the plasma then moving to the next spot and starting up again, WHY and I'm pressing cycle start again as if it were an M00, but won't move and is stuck at M51)? And it keeps shutting off my off my plasma while running and I found a good feedrate that makes it work good for alittle distance then the plasma shuts off, and I'm running a quality lincoln plasma not a harbor frieght and I've put the ground in multiple different positions.
    waiting

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  3 роки тому

      What table are you running? If it’s the original crossfire you MUST use the Mach 3 controller and the specific post processor for that table, Langmuir will have that processor on there site.
      You need to add it into the exact file in Fusion 360 for it to work properly.
      If you are using the Crossfire PRO then you NEED to use the Firecontrol software and download the specific post processor again for the crossfire pro table from Langmuir. These two tables use different software and post processors so you cannot swap software or processors. I hope this helps. Ps did you check to see if your plasma torch is a known plasma to work on these CNC tables?

      Hey James I really like my Crossfire, it’s unlocked so many project possibilities for me! Yes the new table is not going to be shipped till sometime in the spring I think I remember reading? I’m sure it’s going to be nice but for the cost of these Crossfire tables like I own you can’t go wrong, are you buying the XL table extension? I bought that and the water table, if you don’t buy them now you can always add them later, I just ordered them at the same time to save on shipping. I still have not bought the full version of Mach 3, I definitely need to buy it, for the most part I have been able to cut all the brackets needed so far for my articulating truck project with the free version. If you plan on cutting anything with curves and artistic parts or letters you definitely will need to buy the Mach 3. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. 👍

      It was really easy to wire the plasma torch to fire from the CNC table, the crossfire came with a simple plug that you wire into the plasma torch, you simply take off the cover of the plasma torch, check with a volt meter what contacts on the torch close when you pull the trigger, then you clip on two connectors inside the unit to the trigger wires, run the wire out through a vent hole in the front of the plasma 45 and you are done, that simple 🙂👍 I will have close ups of the entire process in my next video. • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  4 роки тому

      Marcus Morgan My Crossfire has held up great, I really liked this crossfire table, I used it for about 6 months but just sold it recently and bought the upgraded Crossfire PRO table and it’s really a nice CNC. for the price difference of the PRO, the options it comes with and FireControl CNC software I completely recommend it. Basically if you add the cost of the original crossfire table, plus the cost of the XL kit, water table you are at $1800, plus you need to buy a third party Mach 3 controller software for about $200 if you was to cut complex parts.
      The PRO is the size of two XL tables, it includes stainless steel water tables, has z axis height controls and comes with free FireControl software, this is the software that controls the table. The PRO sells for $3000 usually but it’s back ordered right now so it’s selling for $2500 and I think my promo code will bring it down another $100.
      Here’s a video I did covering the PRO table

      Did the first table you had have dual drive on the x axis?? I think it's the x anyway?? Long support arm the runs the width of the table? The reason I ask is if it has no support or drive, I worry about jogging.or skipping when it changes directions or stops. Like i mentioned I am just a hobbiest so wouldn't be making much other than small parts for myself, looking at building my own, I can go as big as 5'x8' for right at a grand in materials, minus a laptop and programming, but I would like to have one now instead of another project in the works if that makes sense!. I would try and find out whats wrong with the TD, theyre good machines normally, maybe you have a dud, or maybe the problem you are having is do simple that you're overlooking it.
      Cut quality is very dependant on some things.
      Torch hight/tip to work distance.
      Do you have a thc system?
      Consumables
      Genuine of knock off, new or old and used?
      Matched to cutting amps, you can not expect good quality cuts if running 40 amps on 80 amp consumables or vice versa.
      Air quality
      Air needs to be dry and free of oils, what filters are you using, or are you running a refrigerant dryer?
      Cutting speed , and cutting amps.
      They are connected, even with perfect settings the speed of cutting needs to be a certain value, you can not slow down to much to chech things, as then the quality goes down, and most people then slow down things even more, giving even worse quality.
      So keep speeds and amps kind of linked together.

      Just checked out their website. The price is very tempting. The expensive Lincoln Torchmate is obviously much heavier built and meant for production work. It also has its own computer and plasma cutter machine, plus software with a nesting program. But all that comes at a cost. Looks like I'll have to wait to order and pay the $3000 for batch 3 for Langmuir's bigger CNC table. Batch 2 for their bigger plasma CNC is $2500.

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  4 роки тому

      One cool thing about this table is it’s arm is cantilevered over the cut table with only one track so you can put a bigger sheet of metal on it as long as it’s supported, of course you only get a 24x 33” cut area but it’s still nice there’s not tracks on both sides. I did see they are coming out with that bigger table, my CNC doesn’t have z movement, ( the torch doesn’t go up and down, the bigger table has the option to buy Z controls but it cost more.
      Ps I’m going to call Langmuir systems this week and see if I can get a promo code to post in my next video, if so it will knock $100 off on a purchase price of a CNC table, I don’t know it it will just work for this crossfire or if it will work with both tables?
