I get major sweaty hands when my CFI says, "Ok....you ready to do some stalls? Your flight controls". LOL. I have 19 hours. I noticed it was a little better last time.
One thing that helped me in the beginning was “if something goes wrong I have my CFI with me…” fast forward to flying solo now, if that stall warning goes off!! Pitch the nose down to get that airspeed going
Sounds crazy, but I asked my instructor to take me up for some stall/spins in the 172 extremely early on just so I could feel and see the worst case scenario. Never had an issue with stalls again.
Joining the MzeroA ground school has been a fantastic decision. I have learned so much. 14 hours now on my PPL. ATC talk has been paralyzing but I've been improving lately. Jason, I dream to become like you! Your enthusiasm for aviation boosted my motivation in my times of doubts and discouragement.
I would love a video covering common student errors in every maneuver. There is a segment in the PHAK at every maneuver both high altitude and ground reference but would love to hear in one condensed place a video to refer to as an upcoming CFI.
Jason! Hope you guys are all well. Hopefully the severe weather you experienced has left you unscathed. No sooner than you get over one hurdle along comes another. Always enjoy your videos. All the best!
I’m at a 141, which has fancy G1000’s. Don’t get me wrong I love the avionics and they certainly have a lot of advantages, but I think I could have mastered some of the fundamentals more quickly had I first flown with a 6 pack. Because of how direct the feedback loop is with the G1000 I swear the first dozen hours the only time my eyes were primarily outside was during landings. I spent the rest of the time chasing numbers on a screen. I got so much better once I broke that habit.
Your instructor should’ve helped you out there. Mine takes his hand and will cover up a certain gauge like rpm or airspeed and tell me look outside and feel what’s going on then check back when you think you’re close
Good video. Chasing the DG comes from high altitude instrument integration orientation. The pattern is a contact (flight by reference to terrain) environment and not IMC. Turns to target rather than turns to heading really help with the aviate part of aviate, navigate, communicate preference. Finally when on target, rapid and slight dynamic proactive rudder movement without aileron (and adverse yaw) to bracket the target will strictly maintain heading and keep the wings level at the same time. Maybe have the student remove his hands from the yoke. The B-17 bombardier flew the airplane with rudder trim only to put the Norden bomb sight crosshairs onto the target. Another common error is lining up the nose (prop) with the target. The correct eye to target longitudinal line is between our legs. Yes, both the student's and the instructor's. With the distant centerline appearing to be between your legs and the student's legs, shut down and have him get out to see nosewheel or tailwheel on the centerline.
As always...great content!!! Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The death grip applies to me only when I fly the SR-20 😂I’m right handed so my left hand is crying for a break after 30 minutes in the air but it’s gotten a lot better now. 😂
Yep, been instructing and flying professionally for 24 years and it now appears wokeness and other inclusive left leaning language changes are starting to perculate downward from the department of transportation "Cockpit" is also apparently non grata as its now referred to as the "flight deck...

I just found your videos are you are hilarious - Keep it up!
“30° bank turns” and “spend all day looking for traffic” 🤣🤣

I'd would like to see CFI teach what ifs to students, such as, throttle stuck, missing wheel, unable to re-trim elevator.
ohhh man the nervousness for a solo, the “death grip” is no joke😂

Excellent Video and Excellent Information. Thank You Jason.
You are a life saver with all these videos. I am at 14 hours… I have the death grip syndrome for sure.
Hey Jason. Hope you and airplane are ok after the terrible storm went through. Sending thoughts and prayers to the Florida people.

Good video. I hope you got out of the way of the hurricane or were safe where you were. How far are you from the coastline,

The death grip is real!

A light touch before take off can relax the hands during flight.
I had the death grip during my discovery flight. I didn’t realize it until the CFI said something.
Hey man yall ok down there in Florida?

Rudder!!! Can you see the difference??
Ummm yes??? (But no...)
Why am I watching this as a commerical student
"learner pilot" hits my ears like fingernails on a chalkboard. What is so wrong about "student pilot"??

dim the lights dude.
#1 mistake is choosing the wrong CFI.
