  • A modular home at the Montauk Shores trailer park. near the Ditch Pains surf spot just sold for $3.75 million. Some millionaires with mansions in the Hamptons snatched these trailers just to have a shower after a surfing session.
The working class/fishing village character is fading away. Locals can't afford to live there any longer.
In the morning I was on a shoot in Staten Island. In the evening I drove to Montauk. I stayed at a renovated motel, in February the cheapest room was $150.
I slept 3 hours as the hot air heater woke me up at 3 AM.
It was rainy in the morning and the wind was 20 knots at times, and it was chilly.
I was with a reporter, which makes it easier to connect to people, but also makes shooting video more complicated. I had to edit and file right away from a burger joint as the story could have run Friday, the next day.
The reporter left with the Jutney bus, and I wandered around taking more shots of signage, and the only surfer I had seen all day. I went to the fishing dock, and I saw a lone commercial fisherman. I had no gloves, so I had to file more photos. I was wiped and I needed to drive 3+ hours back home.
Before sunset, the weather was clearing and some sunlight appeared. It was a tight deadline. I would have liked to have extra time to film more videos. The story for the NY Post got pushed to Saturday. I took the clips I had and put them together. I left for Montauk from NYC at a few hours' notice. Had to get all my stuff ready, and get 2 memory card readers just in case.
    I thought I had some work gloves in my car. #montauk #longisland #ditchplain #bluecollar #gentrification #fisherman #commercialfisherman #johnsdrivein #montauksurf #montaukshores #ditchplains #newyork @nypost @photogal.ecb
