Thanks for sharing Paul. I have an Arc A380 that I'm thing of pairing with an i3-10100? Not sure if that would be a good match, but hey...that's what PC guys like me do. We all need to hear those good positive things these day when it seems everything is all about the negative. Thanks Paul and take care.
It is 2024 and I am rocking a Xeon E3 1245v3 in my gaming system that I´ve build a decade ago. The little fucker is still gaming no problem... Sure, not the latest and greatest on highest, but still play all the new games and it is pretty good.
A310/A380 are great cards when paired with old xeons (or any other CPU) that don't have an IGPU for media servers if you are doing transcoding. I agree not much of a gaming card but they have replaced the A2000 for a lot of people as the go to for media servers, especially if virtualized.
Interesting. I have not had a chance to try the ARC yet. I did not know that it would not play well with 3rd/4th gen intels. I guess that would have been no fun.
Everybody clicked this video thinking that fan was on fire
In hindsight, thats not a bad idea to get everyone's attention.

@@rickh8380 10th and 11th gen Intel should work out well. Just make sure you enable the Resizeable BAR in the Bios.
@@ThatPaulGuy Will do. Thanks Paul.

Ive been very impressed with the 1270v3. I'm looking at a socket next, but I've been blown away with this one.
ReBar is a PCIE 2.0 feature, so if you can get a modified BIOS for your motherboard, it just might work.
@@magnusnilsson9792 I'm looking at a few bios mods to see if there are any I trust. It may be worth trying out.
Rebar etc can be patched into most xeon x99 boards
That's a good point. And one that probably deserves a video. It's time to start looking on eBay, thank you for the suggestion.
I admit that I do not know a lot about these Arc cards but it was surprising to see it underperforming against an RX 480. That I find interesting.
those polaris cards still hold up today. before covid i was getting 580's for like $160 with a 30 dollar rebate i think. on top.
They hold up much better in a more recent architecture, but still get nipped by the 6gb as opposed to 8gb of vram.
I absolutely love the 400 and 500 series. Even the 560 4gb holds up okay these days. (Not great, but okay)
@@ThatPaulGuy heck yea

I am absolutely impressed with the AV1 encoding of the lower end cards. Its too bad they aren't marketed that way.

@@RobertFixit yeah, it doesn't play well with anything DDR2 or DDR3.
I do love me some sweet xeon action. 🎉
@@rmcdudmk212 me too! Just not with this video card.
@@ThatPaulGuyat least your not de-lidding them for an old Mac like ActionRetro did recently. 😂
@@rmcdudmk212 oh my. No no no, I would never......... maybe, lol.
