women who have abortions are cursed.
Of course, but the doctors do care because they can get sued.
@@gaileverett Yes, like in the dark ages. Easy for me to say, but I see an ethical imperative. Professionals must give priority to their oath or code of ethics. For a silly example, ban reinforced concrete. Should a structural engineer sign off on a legal bridge that will collapse, or an illegal one that will be safe? If we don't defer to expertise, we might as well put an end to higher learning. And there is no more vital expertise than that in the medical profession .. which is why there is legal precedent for blood transfusions against parents' religious beliefs.
@@danmayberry1185 I've thought about this dilemma often. We can cheer a doctor who puts his whole career on the line for ethical position, but why should the doctor be in that position in the first place? I can't fault a doctor who hesitates to buck the system when the result could, or would, be blacklisting and economic ruin that would affect all members of the doctor's family that depend on the doctor being able to continue being a doctor in good standing rather than a penniless revolutionary.
This is why the current mess is leading back to the days of back-alley abortions of the 50s and 60s, not because of women choosing abortion on a whim, but because of women needing to terminate a pregnancy to save their lives.
It’s disgusting that there was a legal debate over how close to death does a pregnant woman have to be before doctors should help her. That Idaho was against saving the health of a mother shows how terrible Idaho really is. There’s just a general hate towards women
... at least toward women who want control of their own bodies. I'm sure conservative Idahoans are very fond of their obedient, complaisant wives.

Roe v Wade was not about women’s rights, it was about DOCTOR’S RIGHT to perform abortions.
Even R B Ginsberg stated the previous decision was unconstitutional, creates divisiveness, and should be corrected on the state level, according to the constitution.
“Roe isn’t really about the woman’s choice, is it?” Ginsburg said. “It’s about the doctor’s freedom to practice…it wasn’t woman-centered, it was physician-centered.”
Ginsburg actually didn’t think Roe was the best case for establishing abortion rights. She would have preferred a case she worked on as a lawyer for the American Civil Liberties Union in the early 1970s.
Ginsburg, who died in 2020, criticized the 7-to-2 decision both before and after she joined the high court. She argued that it would have been better to take a more incremental approach to legalizing abortion, rather than the nationwide ruling in Roe that invalidated dozens of state antiabortion laws. She suggested a ruling protecting abortion rights would have been more durable if it had been based on the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution - in other words, if it had focused on gender equality rather than the right to privacy that the justices highlighted.
“Roe v. Wade, in contrast, invited no dialogue with legislators. Instead, it seemed entirely to remove the ball from the legislators’ court. In 1973, when Roe v. Wade was issued, abortion law was in a state of change across the nation. As the Supreme Court itself noted, there was a marked trend in state legislatures ‘toward liberalization of abortion statutes.’ ”
It’s a ruse. An attempt to soften the opposition to their previous abortion rulings before the election (knowing that it is massively damaging to Republican appeal).
