I m Pakistani pashtun it's unfortunate how these afghan fall under their government agenda who is actually being selected by US. Pakistan afghanistan problems didn't start in afghan war. It's way back in 1947 when Afghanistan refused to recognized Pakistan as a country, killed first PM of Pakistan and started anti Pakistan movement in the name of Pashtunistan. Afghanistan had a history of hating and interfering in Pakistan of course Pakistan have every right to defend itself.
You are mostly correct. It took me a while to understand this but I have finally figured it out. The problem is that Afghans have an exaggerated view of their country, with respect to Pakistan, and have to feel superior or at least equal by blaming everything on Pakistan. This happens when people are feeling insecure and inferior but have to denigrate others to make up for their shortcomings. They cannot acknowledge that the problem is with their own culture and people, not Pakistan. Once they do that and allow themselves some self-criticism, they can make a difference. Secondly, they do not appreciate favors that others do for them. They think that they are entitled to those favors or that others are helping them because of selfish interests. That is a major flaw in any society, and it makes others reluctant in wanting to help. The US left Afghanistan not only because it was losing the war; it left because it saw that no matter what it does for Afghans, it's not going to help them, and they will never appreciate it.

We have to accept that they have (false) faith that Sharia is good for them and is answer to all there miseries. Also they believe Allah will grant a boon like petroleum if they follow sharia. Quran is both a spiritual, law as well as political book, and it is very hard to ignore it for Muslims. That taxi driver story is a 100% lie, it is simply impossible that people do not know Afghanistan is a Muslim country. Pakistan has hosted 3-5 millions Afghans for 4 plus decades, that's because people accept them as Muslim brothers and sisters. So, people are very much aware, that story was a lie.

Even an illiterate urban Pakistani would know Afghanistan is Muslim, let alone a taxi driver in the capital city, taxi drivers are more aware than an average citizen, because of their exposure. The host was unfair not to highlight the hosting of millions of Afghan refugees in Pakistan for 40 years, and how that is ignored constantly by the Afghans. And the fact India sided with the Soviets when they killed nearly a million Afghans. And, Pakistan has also contributed nearly a billion dollars towards Afghanistan over the last 20 years, directly, the host should have highlighted these facts. It's a shame Pakistan's massive contributions are ignore, whilst others small contributions are shouted about, even by Pakistanis.
I think the whole point was to provide a counter narrative and a safe space for the speakers to open up. This is very important to win the hearts and mind game.

But when India is getting glorified, and Afghanistan is presented as an angel, and "do more" is being presented on Pakistan, even after all the good we have done. I think it's imperative on the host to provide a balance by presenting balanced questions. Counter narrative never means, you allow the situation to become a propaganda blow horn for accusations, for that, mainstream media and social media is doing a wonderful job, let's not add to "counter narrative" because usually that's all we hear. Much of it based on lies, the issues I raised were and are factual, and rarely heard. No where on earth will you find space where the "counter narrative" is allowed to exist as a one way street, a balance still needs to be maintained. Recently, New York Times, the Great bastion of free press, speech or whatever changed how it reports Olympics medal, so let's not develop lazy understanding of what's fair, and step on ourselves in the process.

As an outsider, after reading history of Pakistan Afghanistan, been friends to many Pakistanis and Afghans I guess Afghanistan has done more damage to Pakistan in terms of terrorism and supporting anti state actors and supporting anti govt and anti people militias, but that obviously doesn’t mean Pakistanis or Pakistan govt shall do or support someone which is against the interest of afghan people. I believe you are as much ignorant as you claim to have read the history, all the terrorism in Pakistan started when our best ally USA started bombing the tribal areas, the tribes started a struggle against the slave government of Pakistan, and fought for revenge, the exact similar situation is in Baluchistan, where Musharaf started military operations and till now the Balouchs are fighting our army, so all the problems including terrorism, we were the ones which created them.

Before Islamabad was developed people in Peshawar used to go to Kabul for weekends or spending time. How things have changed in past four decades is sad.
Pakistanis have no problems with the average Afghan since we gladly took in Afghan refugees and protected them from war. But we still have problems with secular Afghan nationalists that have anti Pakistan agenda like Afghan president, vice president, and other Afghan government officials. It will be difficult to have peace with Afghanistan if their army and NDS undermine Pakistan security.

India has spent about 15 years in Afghanistan to education and entire generation and build a narrative against Pakistan. It wont be easy to change that. I don't see that going anytime soon. But if India leaves the Afghan people in the hands of terrorist talibans then probably Afghan youth might look up to Pakistan for intervention.

As a Pakistani living in the US, I have tons of friends in the afghan community but what I don't understand is why are they so rich? They are all like business owners who came to the US like 5 10 years ago with no educational background. For a country so poor with no educational background and with one of the weakest economies. Where did that money come from to so many people? One thing is common in almost all of them, they are very pro Afghan government because the government actually works for them, keeps their pockets full and they are all very anti- Pakistan. I don't hold it against them, their hatred for my country but I do think some Afghans need to be a bit serious about the concept of Halal or Haram.

I'm just amazed to see the sudden change in the state Policy of Pakistan related to Afghanistan ( maybe it's more prominent now ) the neighboring influence is not going to end in the shorter time specially when India is president of UNSC. But hopefully we will have peace in the region.

I m Pakistani pashtun it's unfortunate how these afghan fall under their government agenda who is actually being selected by US. Pakistan afghanistan problems didn't start in afghan war. It's way back in 1947 when Afghanistan refused to recognized Pakistan as a country, killed first PM of Pakistan and started anti Pakistan movement in the name of Pashtunistan. Afghanistan had a history of hating and interfering in Pakistan of course Pakistan have every right to defend itself.
You are mostly correct. It took me a while to understand this but I have finally figured it out. The problem is that Afghans have an exaggerated view of their country, with respect to Pakistan, and have to feel superior or at least equal by blaming everything on Pakistan. This happens when people are feeling insecure and inferior but have to denigrate others to make up for their shortcomings. They cannot acknowledge that the problem is with their own culture and people, not Pakistan. Once they do that and allow themselves some self-criticism, they can make a difference.
Secondly, they do not appreciate favors that others do for them. They think that they are entitled to those favors or that others are helping them because of selfish interests. That is a major flaw in any society, and it makes others reluctant in wanting to help. The US left Afghanistan not only because it was losing the war; it left because it saw that no matter what it does for Afghans, it's not going to help them, and they will never appreciate it.

The host was unfair not to highlight the hosting of millions of Afghan refugees in Pakistan for 40 years, and how that is ignored constantly by the Afghans. And the fact India sided with the Soviets when they killed nearly a million Afghans.
And, Pakistan has also contributed nearly a billion dollars towards Afghanistan over the last 20 years, directly, the host should have highlighted these facts. It's a shame Pakistan's massive contributions are ignore, whilst others small contributions are shouted about, even by Pakistanis.
I think the whole point was to provide a counter narrative and a safe space for the speakers to open up. This is very important to win the hearts and mind game.

But when India is getting glorified, and Afghanistan is presented as an angel, and "do more" is being presented on Pakistan, even after all the good we have done. I think it's imperative on the host to provide a balance by presenting balanced questions.
Counter narrative never means, you allow the situation to become a propaganda blow horn for accusations, for that, mainstream media and social media is doing a wonderful job, let's not add to "counter narrative" because usually that's all we hear. Much of it based on lies, the issues I raised were and are factual, and rarely heard.
No where on earth will you find space where the "counter narrative" is allowed to exist as a one way street, a balance still needs to be maintained. Recently, New York Times, the Great bastion of free press, speech or whatever changed how it reports Olympics medal, so let's not develop lazy understanding of what's fair, and step on ourselves in the process.

There has to be some awakening in Afghanistan to do some self reflection and improve its culture and start building the country. Pakistan is far more developed than Afghanistan, so to overcome that inferiority, Afghans either keep reminding us of their great empires or keep fingerprinting at Pakistan for all their problems. I know there is a myth in Afghanistan that Pakistan wants to dominate Afghanistan or wants "strategic depth." But that is no longer true. Before Islamabad was developed people in Peshawar used to go to Kabul for weekends or spending time. How things have changed in past four decades is sad.
Pakistanis have no problems with the average Afghan since we gladly took in Afghan refugees and protected them from war. But we still have problems with secular Afghan nationalists that have anti Pakistan agenda like Afghan president, vice president, and other Afghan government officials. It will be difficult to have peace with Afghanistan if their army and NDS undermine Pakistan security.

India has spent about 15 years in Afghanistan to education and entire generation and build a narrative against Pakistan. It wont be easy to change that. I don't see that going anytime soon. But if India leaves the Afghan people in the hands of terrorist talibans then probably Afghan youth might look up to Pakistan for intervention.

More than 70,000 Pakistanis lost their lives. Taliban gave Pakistan the biggest blow when they attacked APS school in Pakistan, murdering 350+ children, all less than 19 years of age, youngest of them was 3 year old girl, it was her first day of school. Pakistan has always been, is, and always will be against Taliban or any other terrorist group in the world. Pakistan is still hopeful, and we stand with our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan. Regardless of what media portrays or what Afghanistan government says about Pakistan. We as a nation, will always stand with Afghanistan and her people.

But u just can't deny their youth affiliation with Indian assets, goods smuggling, drug smuggling, crimes & so on. Out of 40 million if 2 thousand are decent that doesn't change the perspective.
As a Pakistani living in the US, I have tons of friends in the afghan community but what I don't understand is why are they so rich? They are all like business owners who came to the US like 5 10 years ago with no educational background. For a country so poor with no educational background and with one of the weakest economies. Where did that money come from to so many people? One thing is common in almost all of them, they are very pro Afghan government because the government actually works for them, keeps their pockets full and they are all very anti- Pakistan. I don't hold it against them, their hatred for my country but I do think some Afghans need to be a bit serious about the concept of Halal or Haram.
There's a documentary of Adam Curtis on Afghanistan 'Bitter Lake'. Adam Kurtis is British filmmaker and in the documentary he shows that how billions given by west ended up in the pockets of warloards and those war loards used it to by their faithfuls.

Well BROTHER, we are hosting 30 million Afg refugees, their young people are granted scholarships to Pakistani universities that even Pakistanis can’t afford, their access to sea ports, medical help etc etc. What has Afghan Govt or Afghan people have done for Pakistan? They became the props of Indian hybrid warfare that has cost the lives of thousands if not hundreds of Pakistanis. They malign us, they insult us, they have been conspiring against their own kin in the name of Durand line, Pushtoonistan, communism, hot waters etc.
