- A fictional trip with Caledonian Railway Class 439 locomotive No 419 starting at a station in southern Scotland heading towards the border. En route, some three Midland Railway coaches are integrated into the train and the engine continues its journey south. An planned engine exchange does not take place as the scheduled L&NWR engine had to return to the shed with a mechanical problem. So the little tank engine has to take over the task to pull the train further south. On the way, even more coaches have to be picked up, so the little tank finally ends up with a train of eight coaches on the drawbar, including two WCJS postal vans. Finally, just before the coal bunker of the tank engine is emptied, an Improved Precedent class engine of the L&NWR, one of the famous 'Jumbos', arrives and takes over the train for the rest of the journey. Enjoy!
I could play with thoes beutifull trains all day and night 😍👍
So eine schöne Bahn! Wunderbare Modelle!
Nice, saw her last Saturday at her home on the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway
This is a stunning clip. A wonderful piece of gauge 1 film with beautiful models. Thank you for sharing it.
Is the 419 made by dougal drummand? It looks a lot like the M7.
John F McIntosh CME of Caledonian from 1895-1914.
that engine is gorgeous
agreed
Great Video with some nice slow running shots, you can admire the train so much better with this slow running, I love it. Many thanks for sharing,Bram
Thanks Bram, it's always a pleasure watching your videos, too.
Great video. I enjoyed every minute. I'll add my thanks for posting it.
Wonderful video. Great video production skills. Not run-of-the-mill engines either. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for your appreciation, Geoff. I'm glad to read that you like it.
Agreed Geoff I'm a huge fan of the old Caley Tanks and this video was absolutely wonderful! Good work LiveSteamFreak!
Such an awesome layout. Where do you get your coaches? They are so great and seem hard to come by. Thanks!
Hello tyfude. At one point in my Gauge 1 passion, I became interested not only in locomotives, but entire trains. These coaches were marketed many years ago by "The Finescale Locomotive Company" / Mr Neil Rose.
@@LiveSteamFreak thanks for the tip. The coaches really set off the locomotives. I wish it was a bit easier to find excellent coaches these days although I do see they come up once in a while. If you ever have any leads, let me know ;-) I have an Aster King Arthur. I’m always looking for some Southern Railway coaches. Cheers!

Today as engine No.419 backed down onto its midland coaches a giant hand slowed the engines before it roughly coupled to them the railway board is baffled to find the orders they have been giving where actually from a giant man who uses this railway as his layout while our top researchers are on why we have shrunk so small others have taken kindly to this new life “The trains have never run faster or smoother than before as the giant man makes sure the trains are well kept and run on time”
Magnificent model! Is it hand made? Did you use any parts from kits or manufactures?
Wheel castings, the pressure gauge, some details castings and the transfers we're bought, everything else was made from scratch. The engine bases on a Paul Forsyth design which was never completed.
LiveSteamFreak She’s a beauty! Ever consider building a Dunalastair 4-4-0? I bet it’d be a work of art.
Is she a single or twin cylindered locomotive?
Hi pwsod
This is a single cylindered engine with axle pump, working water side tanks, bypass in cab, working drain cocks etc.
