Could you ever imagine that potato vodka and quilting go together? (especially when it DOESN'T involve unpicking!)
They do!
Make your own DIY 3-ingredient pressing aid using:
1 oz. (2 tbsp) potato vodka
8 oz. water
1 drop of your favorite essential oil (optional)
Mix and add to your favorite type of sprayer bottle.

I am so glad I found your channel. Fairly new to quilting. Just dive right in. Learned how to sew and quilt pretty much at the same time. 2 of your videos and I’ve learned so much already. Thank you!!!
I just bought the pattern for the quilt behind you.🥰
So glad I watched you. I had gotten about this. Thank you so much. They quilt behind you is beautiful
Great tip! Potato vodka has a nice full-bodied flavor and is a good source of potassium. Love it when we can multipurpose things! 😅
This is a great tip!!
Thanks for a great tip.
While I grant that many find this a helpful aid, I did some research on the chemical compounds of vodka. I found that there is absolutely no starch residue in vodka-potato or otherwise. (Distillation process eliminates). It is essentially ethanol and water and some additive based on distiller.. The properties of ethanol are likely conveying the attractive qualities.
I’ve also heard the potato starch value disputed, but I do know it works and feels like a top notch pressing aid, so I keep using it👍🏻
@@StitchedBySusan Understood. Lowest shelf vodka of any ilk likely works. I will test at some point to feed my inner nerd.
I use it all the times . shake well before using .
2 TBSP for the water, 1TBSP for me 😊
😂
You should have seen the faces around the rehearsal table when I told my daughterinlaw's family (from Kazakhstan, where vodka is a favorite beverage), that I have never drunk vodka, but use it for ironing! Her father said he could pay his laundry less, if he allowed them to iron with vodka, but his vodka bill would go up, lol!
Hilarious!
@@StitchedBySusan I DID offer to help iron tablecloths for the reception, lol
