They are great in campaign; the athenians and spartans generally lack the cavalry and enough skirmishers to kill off Thracian peltasts and warriors. You can recruit mercenary citizen cavalry if you want it too once you are in the Macedon region.
I don't really like the Odrysian Kingdom mostly because of their lack of flexibility and that they have to be played the exact opposite of how I like to play. However the factions that get mercenary Thracian warriors have a soft spot in my heart because I love to use them to take the edge off charging troops and that for the price they can deal quite a bit of death and then I bring up whatever infantry I brought and the Barbarians first line of infantry doesn't get to charge.

Hoplites were normally regular citizens bearing arms for one or two short campaign while only mercenaries used to accumulate decades of experience. Philip II of Macedon started the employment of non-mercenary professional troops, but the smaller city states couldn't afford that.
I was curious if anyone had any suggestions for how to take on Galatia as Rome. In multiplayer I find it quite difficult to win the sword game because galatian legionares are better than evocati for less and the cappodocian cav and their jav cav are so annoying. My sword line gets beaten and my cav neutralized. My only ideas for winning are either a great skirmish game, or maybe bringing elephants to even out the melee battle. But then there is all that loose cavalry that can destroy my skirmishers and cavalry. Any help would be great.
Rhompaia has a 20 bonus vs Large, falxes 15. The only way to use Expert Charge Defense with cavalry is to dismount. LOL.
10 AP on the Balkan Swords for the Peltasts makes them deadly late game.

Odrysia vs. Lusitani would be interesting. They are both kind of of glass cannon factions.
The Odrysian Kingdom is son fun in DeI, much more in depth roster which makes them really great.

These guys are very difficult to use in a siege. Thracians are good for charges but not so good for holding a line

Odrysian Kingdom is not a barbarian faction it is basically Greek - Hellenic in history. In the game they are unique but they are Greeks in history .
If they were tired when you rushed in it'd make a huge difference in your nobles number of kills

A unit with good health armour and charge is usually a good unit to upgrade, cause upgrading improves morale, melee attack and defence...
