    I thought it was very telling when John mentioned Paul when it came to putting lyrics on album covers. They still thought about each other alot and you can tell how the attachment between all of them was still very deep.

    Later on I heard George's reaction to Paul covering either one of his or John's songs on tour, and Harrison giggled, "he probably couldn't come up with a good one of his own".

    Phil Spector gave John the perfect opportunity to dis Paul but he didn't, he just moved on. John also made sure to call George first into the press conference. These lads were brothers.

    Oh yeah. The Beatles were/are very protective of each other. John and Paul particularly have been quoted saying that they are the only ones who can criticize each other. It's only natural. I feel the same way about my family and close friends.

    Yep, I did notice how Lennon suddenly stops after the Spector comment. He didn't argue with Spector though. Its very self restrained. Maybe because he considered Spector as a "great artist." I heard him say that somewhere in another UA-cam post.

  • @magegirl8
    @magegirl8 16 років тому +1

    Yes, It was rude of Spector, I quite agree with that. Of course, Paul and Phil famously didn't get along, having large artistic differences. But it was still rude - rude and petty.
    I wouldn't describe the wedding album as noisy; it is haunting & introspective. I especially love Who has seen the wind.
    There are a good number of songs I like in Ram - i especially like Three Legs. I personally enjoy PM best when he is playing the blues. On that note, i liked 'Let me Roll it' on BOTR.

  • @Flannij

    Well, we have two different ways to feel music, I LOVE BOTR the song...well written, wonderful sax, fantastic voice, Paul plays many instruments (in the whole album)it is like a sweet caress, or the most delicious cake....
    and Jet is fantastic I really can't choose which song I like mostly, maybe "1985"

    @ringdreamer Also, it represents how outside people were driving them apart. You could tell John was simply cooked up about a creative idea and immediately thought of Paul. That's why they worked so well together and why great moments blossomed between them. Then you get a freak like Spector coming in with negative input and spin. Who needs him? (Or, was Phil doing John a favor by forcing him to consider his own art and not competing with Paul?) ... Hmmmmm ....

  • @longview1987
    @longview1987 14 років тому

    @ringdreamer
    that goes for anyone's friends or family though; people within a circle can poke fun or criticize each other with no harm but outsiders can't

    It's almost like Paul was always at the back of John's head. Even though John and Paul resolved their problems in the end Spector should have kept his hands off 'Let it Be'. 'The Long and Winding Road' didn't need the orchestra.

  • @Ardwar

    I like Long and Winding Road anyway , i agree its a bit over the top , but still.

    “who wants to make Paul’s album?”
    Me: “low key what was Sargent Pepper’s, Abbey Road and Let it Be?

    • @hw343434
      @hw343434 3 роки тому +2

      No man, “Let it Be” yes... “Abbey Road” definitely not, see its worst track “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” and best tracks there are from George and John. “Sgt Peppers” is conceptually more Paul’s idea but again best track belongs to... mostly John “A Day in the Life” with another filler courtesy of Paul in “When I’m 64”. What the hell Is that song doing on a supposedly “conceptual drug album”??

    • @gauravi7929
      @gauravi7929 3 роки тому

      @@hw343434 A day in the life is not a John song, dummy. It's a Beatles song. Every Beatle contributed equally to the song. And as for Abbey Road, the medley is the best thing on the album- thanks to Paul. And let's be real, if it wasn't for McCartney's efforts, the band wouldn't have had the Abbey Road album. Also....do you even understand the meaning of low-key??

    bewaremylove, i agree with you about Paul's Beatle setlist. It's still magic, of course, but it's getting predictable. I always said I would love if he threw in a Revolution, She Said She Said, Hard Days' Night or Come Together into a set. He influenced each song greatly; he's more than entitled. But then again, have you UA-cam'd his Day in the Life performance from this summer? Yes, magic, but musically a little stale. Anyway, bless Paul.

  • @magegirl8
    @magegirl8 16 років тому

    haha true. (Though I think he might have always been a complete nerd.) I've never liked (hardly) any of his solo stuff, but there are people out there who think it's brilliant, so i try not to hate.... But it's churlish to condescend him for it. I know it's cliche, but he doesn't owe music anything at this point.

  • @Flannij

    Here we aren't discussing about who's album, But about that P. Spector can't dare to criticise such a great artist!!!
    I give you an advice: listen more carefully Paul's album "Ram" "Band on the run" "Chaos and creation..." etc.etc. the music is fantastic and listen to the words...beautiful!!!
    I assure to you!!
    you can't like all John's noisy albums like "The wedding album"

  • @iluvjpm

    But I don't think J&G ever dissed Paul's music. I'd be surprised if they did. In fact I don't think they really ranted about Paul to anyone. Why would they? Only 4 people know what really happened between them, and it's between those 4 people ya know? Specter had his own bad relations w/Paul. Remember his production "skills" on 'Let it Be'? Paul never forgave him for that. You don't mess with Paul's music ever.

    No offense, but I'd much rather make a John's album. A Paul's album may be good and all, but they don't touch me the way John's do - I can't relate to them at all. Maybe a handful of songs over his entire solo career.

  • @magegirl8
    @magegirl8 16 років тому +1

    I hate 'BOTR the song' - it annoys the heck out of me. I also found "Jet" quite annoying. A good number of PM's songs, especially in BOTR, feel soulless - technically good songs, but there's no life to them, no breath.
    I do like Chaos and Creation though - I feel like he's found musical inspiration again, which is great, because at his best, Paul is downright Genius.

    • @hw343434
      @hw343434 3 роки тому

      That’s the thing about Paul, he was lost without John as far as artistic direction. He is still a great musician on his own, but his songwriting without John feels mostly lost, lyrics mostly don’t mean anything at all post-Beatles and as you mention, there are some good songs but the soul is missing. That soul was John Lennon.
