Arany Zoltán you deliver the line "We hae tint our plaid, bannet, belt and swordie, Ha's and mailins braid-but we hae a Geordie!" just perfectly. Very powerful yet calm and smooth version.
@Adam W Heya Adam, How would you rate Zoltán's attempt at the ol' accent? I'm no Scotsman, but I do work with a lot of them - especially Glaswegians. I've also enjoyed 'Limmy's show' & 'Burnistoun' in the past, so I consider myself somewhat of a "Scottish accent afficionado" among my people (jk ofc) - and yes, I do realize there are heaps of other different accents outside of Glasgow :) Anyhow, as a fellow Hungarian I thought Zoltán did a pretty alright job!
@@nuckingfuts4721 I think that he sang this flawlessly. That's awesome. You really don't get much harder to understand than glaswegian I'm not from Glasgow but very near so you could say I have an accent. I've been to Hungary and know that it's a very different language and very hard (for me) to pronounce or understand anything Hungarian so I have so much respect for both you guys taking the time to learn. Thanks for the message buddy
I've spent the last couple of hours of listening to English, Irish and Scottish folk music, and despite our differences at the time its so spectacular to hear all these beautiful traditional songs from a time where all our cultures were relevant, such a shame that we've all lost a lot of identity over the years but refreshing to hear it alive in song.
Kedves Zoltán, csodálatos zenékkel ismertettél meg a világ minden tájáról. A zenéjükön keresztül megismerhettem ezeknek a népeknek a lelkét, értékeit és esztétikai érzékét. Örökké hálás leszek ezért az ajándékért.

well done...especially the pictures are utterly first class I love scotland and I always will but I'm sorry... I'd love to see this pictures on a song of the corries (which is the best version by far) and there will never be a better one
Well, to be fair I think his first language is Hungarian! He might not have got Scots down to a tee, but in my opinion his skills as a musician & vocalist make up for that.
This gentleman's renditions are excellent, especially his version of Ye Jacobites by name. Is there a cd available somewhere? Just need to do a cover of Stirling Brig. Sans peur!
My family goes to a MacDonald on my fathers side who married a Stuart. Although there isn't a name, so we are still trying to figure out who it is. And I traced my family back to the Royal O'Connors of Ireland, and am a relative of the Fraser's through my mother.
You're British are you not, just guessing by your profile pic, my heritage is scottish so why be happy for us when you treated us as slaves and beaten us
Evan Stewart Do you think that I support the disgusting actions of the Duke of Cumberland and the Hanoverians against the Highland people? It is detestable. I will only ever support the true kings of Britain, even if I am a minority among my people.
My Hunter side goes all the way back to the Hunter clan who fought against the English and King Hakon of Norway near Hunterston Castle. Whether or not I'm descended from a great warrior or a hunter I don't know.
Not too bad, only a few questions remain: why do you pronounce "Gin" as though you are speaking of the spirit "Gin"? Then … who do you pronounce the doubble-u in the weapon "sword"? Is that Scots?
fmrelay - *laugh* good thing Arany Zoltan did a teddybear version. Hungars are fighters - and Hungar cavalry combined with Hieland swordsmen...my bets would not be on the redcoats.
This guy nailed this. As a Scotsman I must say there isn't a better version out there! Much respect
What a honour! Thanks!

@Adam Weir: not too bad, but this applies to the "The Corries" Version, too.

Greeting to our Scottish Friends!! Love from France.
it's "l'auld alliance", that's the only mistake ^^
Our peoples are brothers for the eternity. The Scots are a great people. We share the blood and the battlefield since the old celtic ages.
Salutation à nos amis écossais! nos amitiés de France
I love you❤
I feel a sense of peace when listening to this. Love from America to Scotland.
From a fellow American Scot to another.....👍
@@rebeccamead4557 May this American with English blood be an honorary Scot? haha
As a fellow Scotland-loving American, cheers right back at ya! Slàinte!
Don't forget, you guys are as Scottish as you are viking, or Irish, or native, or royalty, or whatever else yanks like to latch onto.

I agree, it's terrible that over the past centuries Scottish, Welsh, and Irish culture has been supressed by Westminster.
The Scots themselves weren’t exactly unkeen on building up the Empire, after all, their unification with England was done willingly
I'm Scottish and this is by far my favourite version of this song
What a honour! ;)
I love your music very much...... such a wide choice of traditional music done in a very good way
Thank you! ;)
Yes, I сan't stop listening )

Because the exiled Scots kings of the Stuart line found refuge in France - this was the "Auld Alliance" - two countries with a deadly enemy - England.
Egyik a kedvencem.
Gorgeous pictures. What's a Joccobite? I know nothing of Scottish history :( Something with King James right?

The pro-Jacobite lyrics unriddled: www.telusplanet.net/public/prescotj/data/music/camyeoer.html
Same melody as The Brig o' Stirling by The Corries,
The righteous Jacobite cause is not dead. A Stuart of the line will be found, or the House Of Lochiel can do the job!

Really? I suppose someone, somewhere might benefit from that. Couldn't imagine who though....
The music is excellent--the best version I've heard--but the vocal....sorry, but Maddy Prior is tops with this one.
Love steeleye span but the slower beat and regular uninterrupted rhythm of this particular version is unprecedented. Fantastic and addictive.
I'm supposedly descended from somebody called Thomas or Tom, as he apparently preferred to be called.
