- A classic Steeleye track which has been part of the live set throughout the band 50 years. Seen here live by the 'Classic' 70's line up with Tim Hart on Dulcimer as it was recorded on the album 'Parcel of Rogues'

Seeing Maddy dancing is something wonderful! But the band is great!
Maddy Prior dancing on the piano when I saw them open for Jethro Tull remains one of the highlights of my concert compendium.
She's awesome 😎
That drum beat. Ancestral memory.
Stammen Sie aus Afrika?😂
@@spackretiredThey're from Germany. Why did you say Africa? Which, by the way, is a huge and diverse continent and not a country.
What a sound, Maddy, what a voice ! fantastic. Best ever !
Thank you, this is amazing. I love Steeleye Span
Marvellous! Oh to be able to go back to the 70's and see that line up again! Saw them several times at Sheffield City Hall and going to see them again on 8th November in Doncaster. 👌
like Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span revolutionized Medieval and Renaissance period folk music into "Folk Rock" during the 1970's....Maddy Prior was the female vocalist for many years and Richard Thompson was the guitarist......
My parents would have loved to hear this.... Maybe they had, actually... Well, tonight I'll have a drink with their ghosts and enjoy this with them.
Saw Maddy dancing in a pub in Fulham one night in 1971-ish. Magical!
those years ending with an "ish" are the best to live in

😊😊😊♥️
Love to see Maddy dancing 😍
I have never seen them live. I am so glad this was posted on YT! In the '70s Steeleye Span received a good amount of airplay in the NYC area. So I knew who they were. I love that there is available footage of their performances! Great dancing!!!
It was great to watch this video. Unfortunately for whatever reason Steeleye Span has always performed this song live at a faster tempo than the album version and neglect to include the gritty lead guitar strums. The album version has a real dark feeling to it. By all means this is a good watch, but to hear the best you need to hear the album version.
Agreed

As a musician you often get carried away.
Agreed !!!
I agree...slower is better
I always loved when Maddy danced.
Soberba interpretação do grupo e com uma voz da Maddy Prior a seduzir...fabulosos!!! Steeleye Span forever and ever!!!
Fun to see Peter on mandolin, and Tim on dulcimer.
That's not a dulcimer , but a slide guitar!
It's a dulcimer!@@tommyrawlings3046
@@tommyrawlings3046it’s a Mountain Dulcimer, as opposed to the one you play with the hammers.
brilliant band i saw them back in the seventies!
They will be at the New Forest Festival in July
I like the amplified dulcimer ! 🎉
Wonderful 😊
I love the way Maddie says "France" as though it was obscene although I know she doesn't feel that way generally
Beautiful ❤️
Great performance; my favorite line-up of the band.
Any group is diminished without Ashley Hutchings
This version is soo FAST. But still has the humour and fun element. 🙂
Magnifici!
Im filming a skateboard 🛹 video and am using this song 😎.
(studio 🎙️...) but this live version is amazing!
what can be better to a great performance than Maddy stepdancing across the stage
Jacobite one day, Jacobite for Ever.
Long live the House of Hanover!!!
@@spackretired😂
Nothing quite like some early 18th century politics for sheer ....... pointlessness.
A Jacobite song ridiculing King George & his wives and praising the Highlander leaders.
Confound them!
smh keep politics out of music /s
Good to know that tidbit about history. Thank you 😊
What language is Maddy Prior singing in? Olde English?
scots, it's a dialect of english spoken in parts of scotland
Always got their name mixed up with Steely Dan.
How true
My wife bought us tickets to see Steeleye Span once thinking she was going to see Steely Dan
That was the first and last time that she listened to English Folk-Rock!
I always knew steely Dan was a fake band, so these are the real musicians that played for them in the studio, huh? And everyone criticizes the monkeys and Milli vanilli, ha! 😁
What? Are you high?
such ia cool band ... i only heard that most known album from cartrips as child .... But they allways makse me think of another outfit that is wat more obscuyr, very similiar and you wonder, why they, "Fiddlers dram" only made one album, its here on youtube i it´s entirity and its one good song after another .... their hit is their worrst i think and doesnt sound like rock....Roadtrip to bangor i think its called, it´s a little cheeky with lyrics like "cracking open a bottle of cide, laying back spreading her fanny ...
Hi, Fiddlers DRam went on to be OysterBand and made many many great albums :)
@@spanfan7669 No way ?!? i have to check em out, thanks
