The only person we should not offend is GOD
As a former catholic I have offended many catholics. My biggest are the words Lord Jesus commands mankind, "call no man father, you have one Father, your Father in Heaven." I have offended many other Christians with Scripture. If a Christian is offended, then these christians are not living the word of God. God's word is no offense to we who live by Matthew 4:4. Salvation is not about living our own righteousness. Salvation is about God's righteousness. The wide road is human righteousness, the narrow road is God's righteousness. It is not difficult, there are road signs to take us through the narrow gate. What makes this gate difficult to go through, is most of mankind including many christians, is they ignore God's road signs. Remember, God has placed a divide between Satan and God. He did this in the Garden of Eden in the presence of satan after both Eve and Adam sinned. Looking and sounding like a Christian is not a christian. Being a Christian is a Christian. All christians know there is a judgment seat. At this seat our words are judged. Here we will know who looked and sounded like a Christian. And those who are a christian. Only one of these christians will obtain God's glory, salvation. Happy Sabbath morning. God bless

Offend unto righteousness
I think what he means is that we need to FEAR GOD AND NOT MAN.
The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is safe. Proverbs 29:25
