This is a great video, and a great test. Some other tests I don't feel like I get a good taste, but with the single note comparisons, I felt like I really knew which one I liked better. And with these two keyboards being identical in price right now ($500 for each), this helps a lot. Thanks! I think I like the sound of the Yamaha just slightly better. To my ear, it's slightly harder to tell that the Yamaha is not an acoustic piano.
I'd know the sound of the P-45 against anything because it's brighter (too bright for an acoustic piano sound) than most any others. I might not know what the other is on a test, but I can pick out the Yamaha without fail. It might be harder for some to tell when properly amplified, since on their own, the P-45 only has 12 watts vs 18 for the Korg. With Korg's speakers on top, the comparison becomes necessary as it is the clear winner. This is a great test!
Both the Yamaha p45 and the Korg b1 are two wonderful instruments with great qualities. Although the Korg b1 has better home bundles under the price of £500. But about the pianos...Korg b1 is more likely preferred by people and it has a better/richer sound than the Yamaha and featuring a full size speaker giving you a good quality of sound. So I’d prefer Korg b1
When the note decays on sustain, the P-45 retains a sound in the form of an overtone buzzing with a bounce. Korg has it, but almost immediately disappears. I don’t know how Yamaha writes their samples. And Korg uses multi-layered, long, unlooped piano samples. Perhaps that's why his sound is more natural.
you are right it is now!.. but when I wrote the comment I did check (in my country), and then it was the other way around!... One thing I can add that was a dealbreaker for what I wanted it to be used as (a controller for vst instruments).. the Korg B1 hasn't usb or midi!!... so the Yamaha would be the thing to get, if you want to plug it into the pc/mac and record and/or play vst pianos and others ;) Now I have tested a Yamaha P115 and love the keybed!! not sure if P45 have the same GHS keybed though. I ended up buying a Novation Impulse 61 controller keyboard, with semi-weighted keys, and regret a bit not having gotten the Yami. But I got an amazing deal for under 50% on the keyboard, so I had to take it! ;)
Well done comparison. Surprisingly to me, I liked the B1 more. The P45 was too harsh for me and Korg 1 feels fuller. Sadly it doesn't come with a usb Port. Not even Midi out port. Nothing... how can they skip on such a basic function :( very sad
@Felipe de Zwaan My first answer got deleted while writing so here's the second time: I'm not a pro I think USB will at the very least enable you to use Midi Out, which means that you are sending the notes you are playing to for example your computer, where you can use a program with different HQ virtual Instruments instead of the ones from the piano itself. And also record your notes on this program of course. Some USB Ports also allow USB Audio, which will send Audio digitally and therefore in a much higher quality than with an analog signal that a 3,5mm Jack delivers. By now I tested the P45 and P125 and while the P45 is good for its price (considering second hand) the p125 is more likable to my ears, it just moves me more and the P45 sounds a bit cheap in comparison. Also, there is USB Audio and Midi Out / internal recording and Beats to play with unlike for example on the Roland FP-10. But that's off-topic.
@@matyassimonics6512 1 each note plays several samples. 2 notes decay while you carry on playing new notes. Easy to add up to a lot of simultaneous samples, and suddenly 64 doesn't sound like a big number anymore.
I like number 2 (Yamaha) way more. It sounds more natural and pleasant to my ear even though the Korg has more dinamic and sometimes more armonics. I think that every player/listener used to (good) acoustic piano sound would like the Yamaha much more than the Korg
over the net there is not much difference, but in the music store the korg b1 sounded more like a real piano. the yamaha sounded like a keyboard.......
I"m very sure I like the Piano 1 much more, and I thought it would be Yamaha p45, but it turned out it's Korg. To my surprise! I found I've got to know about Korg B1.
Hi, great job man. But I couldn't find your other 'KORG LP-380 VS YAMAHA YDP-162' video as suggested during 5:35 in this video. Can you provide a link? thanks.
Not much difference, but I preferred piano 2. Piano 1 (Korg) had a slightly unpleasant metallic ring. Piano 2 also sat in the stereo mix better for me.
I felt like the korg had the better and sharper highs and in general a bit better mids, wile the Yamaha was just a lot better with the lows especially. Highs were not bad with the yamaha but they sounded a little bit depressed
The P45 sounds softer and has heavier low notes while the B1 is more crisp which I dislike. You're also not limited to the hardware audio and onboard voices on the P45 as it has USB connection so you can use it as a MIDI controller and make it sound better with other voice sets and use apps like Kontakt, Abelton, FLS, Sythensia and other apps that help with learning piano etc. The Korg B1 unfortunately does not have USB/MIDI connection.
It's the P-45 that has the brighter "crisp", not the B1. That is exactly how I knew them apart. It's actually too crisp for me, and I usually like that. Try listening to Roland FP-30X for a great sound; 22 watts helps.
Great comparison, Thanks! I'd like to know how you recorded both tests since the Korg B1 doesn't have USB connection? Were they recorded the same way? Was it by headset output line to a computer? or a mic on the speakers output? Thanks!
korg sounds better which tbh this is no surprise to me, yamaha quality slacks on the low to mid range products unlike korg. Microkorg owners know this as a fact.
Whenever i hear a Yamaha piano i can always tell the b and the c notes 1 octave above middle c. How can i tell ? Because they are both DUFF notes that sound nothing like the rest of the notes on the piano and have nothing like the same volume as all the other notes. This applies to both acoustic and digital pianos.
how can you guys not hear the difference? the Korg sounds better i don't know about the features since i only know about the p45 features i will say this between both of them you should save a little more and go with the p115 you can not go wrong as a starter piano yes it's a little more but you're getting quality and later when you're actually good at playing you can buy something better and plus doing gigs gets your paid and will help in a tight spot all you have to do is learn a few songs.
Korg sounded better to me, but I went back and forth as to which sounded better. Korg has no digital connections, so that's really no good!?😮?Thanks!👏👍🎶

1 Korg sounded more realistic, or closer to an acoustic piano IMO
Korg B1 seems to be a nicer piano overall between the two.. specially been even cheaper than the yami.. I'm considering the Korg B1
