best track so far for sure. there's just no words for this track
I go through thinking almost every song is the best on this album and change my mind almost immediately because they are all bangers. Every song is next level. AOTY for me so far
I love the vocals at the beginning of this song.
Tip, raise the pitch by 5 cents. The way the song hits in that key is fucking insane, honestly.
@@hugemetalfan6664 Recording my reactions for the album now.
@@walktroughman1952 howwww?!? I'm so intrigued
I never expect that beautiful clean intro. It's just giving me goosebumps
Yes Trivium needs more clean parts! All Of These Yesterdays and the clean section of Shogun are great examples. They do it so well.
It's like a goddamn Iron Maiden intro, got dem chills
@@l.b136 Exactly what I thought hahaha
@@cwmmetal I second this, their clean stuff is so, so good, the bridge part of Caustic are the Ties that Bind is some of the best songwriting they've ever done
@@l.b136 It gave me Iron Maiden similarities too
My God, these solos are beyond of this world
The first one kinda sounds like Marty Friedman
I love that Trivium's singles aren't the best songs on the album. They're good enough to reel you in and jam out too, but the real gems are always the rest of the album.
Couldn’t agree more.
Yess, this is like the "New Shogun" right?
That's the point man, totally agree👏👏
That's how good bands operate. Poor ones, in my opinion, release through only good songs as singles and the rest is filler. Pop music is notorious for this.
@@dansourile5444 When was pop music ever good?
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Snow covers every path
Stumbling, no turning back
Pushing further till I fall
Looking up, I hear him call
[Pre-Chorus]
What's known is now lost forever
Endless shadows lead the way
[Verse 2]
No cover from the sun
Crumbling, fall one by one
Look in envy at the dead
They took pity as they said
[Pre-Chorus]
What's known is now lost forever
Endless shadows lead the way
[Chorus]
Don't go searching for the battle
You won't find any beasts to slay
You'll rip yourself to pieces
You'll drive yourself insane
In the shadow of the abattoir
[Verse 3]
Black waters in our wake
Sinking, await our fate
Our dead future has arrived
Dark refrain, we can't deny
[Pre-Chorus]
What's known is now lost forever
Endless shadows lead the way
[Chorus]
Don't go searching for the battle
You won't find any beasts to slay
You'll rip yourself to pieces
You'll drive yourself insane
In the shadow of the abattoir
Don't go searching for the battle
You won't find any beasts to slay
You'll rip yourself to pieces
You'll drive yourself insane
In the shadow of the abattoir
[Bridge]
From the depths
I will rise
From the ground to the sky
From the depths
I will rise
From the ground to the sky
From the depths
I will rise
From the ground to the sky
From the depths
I will rise
From the depths
I will rise
[Chorus]
Don't go searching for the battle
You won't find any beasts to slay
You'll rip yourself to pieces
You'll drive yourself insane
In the shadow of the abattoir
Don't go searching for the battle
You won't find any beasts to slay
You'll rip yourself to pieces
You'll drive yourself insane
In the shadow of the abattoir
[Outro]
Snow covers every path
Stumbling, no turning back
You'll rip yourself to pieces
You'll drive yourself insane
In the shadow of the abattoir.

But thanls for the lyrics!
This is my New favorite song.. incredible vocals☆

Your the hero of the day my friend
This song hit me the hardest. When I came back from Iraq and Afghanistan, I couldn't stop "searching for the battle". I did drive myself insane, and lost 8 years of my life. I ruined my marriage, scarred my kids, and lost every single friend I had.
But I did rise.
I’m Canadian. And I say thank you for your service sir. Thank you.
As a canadian to i salute you and thnk you for your service to this world sir. Sending good vibes and praying for you may god bless you.
we all go through hard, treacherous, and even, seemingly impossible times. but they are all just different ways our “creator/higher power” Uses to get our attention, saying we’re not on the right path. glad to hear there’s still hope. i love that this music brings us all together
I'm glad you are back, sometimes warriors never come back from the battlefield,I can imagine how lonely it could be,but now you are fine I'm glad, and proud of you, wherever you are,be happy and feel proud of you!
Big up my man
In my opinion this is the best song on the album and also one of the best songs in their entire catalog! I’ve listened to it like 50 times today lol.
Agreed. One of the best ever!! Epic stuff!
Such an amazing album. It's a mixture of all previous trivium albums.
No, no its not
@@jordanmcmichael6682 why are you so negative? indeed it's on the top 10 album eleases of 2021 in its genre. it's a very solid metal album.
@@jayvanhorn6372 the trivium have their own genre
@@jordanmcmichael6682 God you're SO edgy. We must all aspire to be like you
@@jayvanhorn6372 I don't think it's particularly negative to say it hasn't got aspects of every Trivium album, infact I think it's quite true, this song is actually very different for Trivium, it sound more like a iron maiden-esque song and I think that's just amazing to hear them play out that influence and try something new
Good god this album is fantastic. Does anyone else agree with me that this release just elevated them from Metal Gods to Metal Omniscience?
I agree that you enjoy hyperbole.
I agree, but dont forget Shogun...that was a máster piece, this álbum is like baby shogun
Until the end of the age.
@@gabrielfernandocazarezguer2073 grown baby shogun
i love it so hard!! the ideas, the conception, the complexity of the songs, yet they are rememberable!!!
Binging this album is insane... They are all such amazing songs... I'm pretty much speechless...been a LONG time since an album has hit so hard with me... Absolutely amazing...in every aspect.
No truer words said. Been a Trivium fan since Ember to Infero, grew up with Trivium. Wasn’t a massive fan of Sin and the Sentence, didn’t like What the Dead Men Say. This right here though, it’s absolutely mind blowing. I first listened on a 6 mile run today, every song, goosebumps. Seriously mind blowing album.
@@jordanbenson2980 personally found TSATS a very interesting comeback considering how underwhelming the previous albums were, I really liked WTDMS as well, but at times it was too radio friendly. Indeed this album surpasses not only the last two, but probably everything Trivium has done, imo.
I’m with you, been a fan since 08, and it’s been a while since a song left me with my jaw dropped. This album is a new high for them
@@ptr_does_music7042 I genuinely think this is the best album they’ve ever done, and I really never thought I’d be saying this
Best metal band in the world. I grew up in the hood listening to nothing but rap and r&b. This band started getting me more into rock. I would never had thought that Trivium lyrics would resignate with me more then any rapper. Thank you Trivium for always putting out great music👏👏👏👏
music has a crazy way of doing that, no matter which way people end up leaning in music
@@dbeast03 I couldn't stand metal..but heard ascendancy in 2005 and was like wtf was that 🤔 sounded nothing like any other metal and to me they still sound like trivium and no-one else...in fact I still hate a lot of metal...there's harsh vocals done well..then there is the awful cringe talentless crap..trivium is on a different level musically and creatively
Grew up in the hood but my Jamaican pops always used to listen to Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. One of my cousin’s showed me Rain by Trivium and said he only likes that one song. I went and did research for myself to find more Trivium. Been one of my fav bands since 06 when I found out about them.
I think this is one of the best songs they’ve ever written a true masterpiece
One of their most epic songs yet! That intro is so Iron Maiden and I love it ❤
I was searching for comment like this, I also think intro is so Iron Maiden. 😅
I thought of Fear of the Dark as soon as I heard it.
I completely agree. I think Maiden's influence is all over this album actually, but it's definitely most prominent in this track. The soft intro and verses, Matt's full vocal range and that absolutely HUGE chorus- it's perfect.
I agree with you mate !
Iron Maiden vibes and loving every second!
Shit! I said the same thing!! Amazing!
@@BobbyButterfield I said the same thing also. Ha.
Literally thought the exact same thing
Agreed, especially in the intro
I got major Parkway Drive vibes.
this is the greatest song since the release of shogun. I never thought that trivium would hit that high again. As they have been my favorite band for over 5 years, this song is almost an emotional experience for me. My favorite people making something as good as their classics ive had on repeat since i first found them.
I cried my eyes out on my first listen.
Everyone has their own opinion.
Mine is that this sucks ass.
@@jordanmcmichael6682 LMAO WHAT IM SCARED TO KNOW WHAT MUSIC YOU FIND GOOD THEN LOL

@@HijoDeDios999 he is probably still upset Nick Augusto left. Let the man grieve XD
Matt really shows off how massive his vocal range is!
That's the most epic metal album cover in decade's. That's OG Maiden class epicness. You know back in the days when you go to the record store and in my day to grab a cassette check out the front cover and if the artwork was badass, then chances were it had a high probability of being good metal and you bought it because of the art. 😂. Telling my age now, but hell dude that was a good old days
I've often wondered how many fans Maiden got from the album art alone. It's gotta be a pretty high number. Favourite art is Seventh Son, hence why I got it inked 👌
While it is epic, you’ve definitely missed out on a lot of metal album cover this decade then…
@@tinobenfante7315 very true indeed, that I have
This song reminds me of Shoguns title track. Absolutely perfect and just so epic
4:42 - 5:04 Paolo's riff on guitar
He posted a video on instagram last year where he plays that part on guitar.
BTW, great song!
Could you share a link to that post?
Reminds me of the riff from into the mouth of hell we March during the solo... and I love it. Lol
What a journey, what an album, WHAT A BAND!
At first, I wasn't convinced by this Album. Then the songs caught me one after the other. Right now this song is my highlight. What an intro, and how the song develops... World class!
This song is literally always in my head! I cannot shake it! We see them Oct 25!

So many good metal albums recently. Keeping the flame alive. Awesome!
Yeah, this year is awesome. don't forget to check out BFMV they coming back with some solid tanks
The new heros of this generation are emerging, and it's a wonderful thing to watch.
That said, Trivium is leaking right now, this shit is incredible!
Matt Getting his scream back from the ''In Waves'' years, is something I can't enjoy more
Trivium never stray from this..this soft sound is so intriguing!!
Just when I think I’ve heard the best Trivium has to offer they keep ratcheting it up another notch. Truly masterful work.
Same. I've always held Trivium to a higher standard but they always manage to somehow suprise me.
6:33 Matt reaches D5, I guess these are one of the highest notes in his career. Nice for a baritone. Although we'll see whether he sings them live as well.
And turns out, he did in Deadmen and Dragons! Just gotta wait for what he has on stage...
been wondering cause it sounds more like paolo to me he usually does a lot of the higher pitch back vocals altho whoever it is its epic af
and “snow covers” goes down to a c#2
This is just a high level of musicianship! I really loved Aphelion from Leprous, they are my favorite band , but so far this Trivium album has been amazing, probably will become AOTY for me
Only listened to 5 songs and already has AOTY for me
As a huge Aphelion fan, when I first read your comment I thought "that can't be right," but after hearing the other half of the album I have to agree.
This, The Phalanx, and the title track are my favorites so far...
It's 5AM in California and I've spent all night listening to this over and the rest of the album over, and over.
This is probably the BEST album that this band has ever created!!!!

After Shogun and other great albums, this will become new Trivium classic. Cant wait for next album, great job guys!

This intro is so Iron Maiden. I love it!
This song has a real Disney vibe. Not a bad thing.
6:45 daaamn Matt
Vocal gains in this one are huge!
My words cant describe this album , it’s UNREAL… how they haven’t even got 1 bad album is beyond my comprehension
I second this
At the time I wasn’t digging Silence in the Snow when it released, but even that’s got it’s own flair.
@@Wernershnitzl Well Vengeance Falls was pretty lackluster too IMO.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 true but it still had its moments. Some excellent riffs.
They’ve got some bad albums for sure, but Shogun and ITCOTD are god tier
I've never seen a recent band make what seems their best album to date so deep into their career, like Trivium just showed with ITCOTD! I have no words to describe how amazing this is!
Every new album is their best. They will always top their best work, they always have.
Kinda like Judas Priest with their 1990s Painkiller
Aside from their brief downfall with The Crusade, Trivium has progressively made success with each album release. Just when you think theyd reached their prime with TSATS, they go ahead blow our minds with 2 more insane albums even going further by launching 3 live online performances, 2 of which were interactive performances with their fans, in the prime of the pandemic. Like you said, theres simply no words to explain the incredible work theyve done.
@@GoneDeathMode tbh, I liked Sin and The Sentence, but I found that Trivium were struggling with making an album that is all killer no filler like Shogun. I loved some songs, others were a bit meh. But this album, god damn, so cohesive, aggressive and just killer, I loved every single song off of it! And every single first impression left me mind blown, no song left me feeling underwhelmed. And in general, i believe they had many ups and downs throughout their history, vengeance falls was completely meh, Crusade was plain unlistenable because of the vocals, SiTS could've been a bit better.
@@ptr_does_music7042 i didnt really enjoy the Vengeance Falls era tbh, album was meh but tons better than Crusade. But the era itself was a let down due to Nick Augusto’s terrible live performance. He was very much that kid who tried way too hard but cant keep up with anybody. He absolutely ruined their performances with his terrible tempo management and stupid fills. So but i maintain my initial opinion. Ignoring The Crusade, Trivium has continuously gotten better. It took them a long time to find the perfect replacement for Travis, but that never stopped them from making 🔥 albums.
I’ve followed trivium since I was 13 im 28 now. This is there best this is the stuff I live for.
3:05-3:40
If this doesn’t give you goosebumps you are empty inside. Conveying this imagery of a dragon about to take flight in song form is absolutely incredible. Bravo Trivium you’ve created a masterpiece.
this song captivated me immediately, it’s so unique, it’s got so much character and such a sick atmosphere i love it so much
This one is just incredible
This is by far my favorite track on the album. Trivium is constantly evolving. As a fan since In Waves, this is what peak performance sounds like. Every album shows growth. Shogun was a quintessential masterpiece. This is the best album since then and I have no doubt that they will blow this release out of the water in the future. Keep making incredible music.
This should THE metal song of the year, imo.
Best trivium song, idc.
Thx for my morning from Belgium! I listen that band since 2006! Thx for everything guys! And come soon in Belgium for tasting our beer!
es un deleite el inicio lpm, se me erizo toda la piel en toda la cancion
de inicio a fin es una delicia

Probablemente la mejor canción así más tranquila de Trivium.
For the past few albums I am never aware there's a new Trivium album. This has been the best track on the album imo. Just started yesterday!
This might be my alltime favorite Trivium song. Just wow
This album is absolutely genius. Bringing this out only a year after the last is mind blowing. Unbelievable band. Amazing🤘🤘
It's almost hypnotic when he digs so deep into his vocal range for songs like this.
This song is definitely one of my favorites off this album so far! It’s a great day to be a Trivium fan 🤘🏼

Okay, it's not just me right? This is Trivium's best song. There, I said it and I stand by it.
Nope i agree this is music magic
Been seriously listening since In Waves, but have heard tracks from several earlier albums. This indeed sounds like the culmination of everything they've done, and it's glorious. Already ordered a vinyl

Technically absolutely but give Travis credit where credit is due! He was miles above the others

Wow another Masterpieces albums by Trivium!
I LOVE everything on this song. Such a good ass song!!!!
Wow the Beginning Sounds like it could be the intro to an Iron Maiden song
This album is up there with Shogun. Holy shit. This absolutely exceeded my expectations, and my expectations were really high.
Trivium are one of the most enjoyable bands to listen to. I discovered them when i downloaded their cover of Metallica I think it was on Limewire or something. They just keep making awesome music. The drums.. I can listen to whole albums just focusing on the drums.

It certainly sounds like the true follow up to Shogun in the best of ways. Just a couple of years late right? 😂
@@RedShogun13 Haha yeah man, it's like they skipped time!

Damn... I'm speechless. Perfection.
I can’t decide if this isn’t my favorite track on this album, or The Phalanx. Both are truly epic songs. I mean, if you were trying to come up with the penultimate Trivium song, either would do. Complex, absolutely shredding on guitars, awesome vocals, Alex’s drumming just amazingly tasteful and difficult. Just wow. No words for just how great this album is, and with the exception of The Phalanx, which was partly written during Shogun, and only recently finished, the rest are all new tracks.
Amazing! This is why Trivium is my favorite band!
This has a Maiden vibe to it. Love this song.
In 2015 at an album release get together for Silece of the Snow, I was speaking with Matt while standing in line for sushi. We we talking about his love for Iron Maiden and at the time he was really enjoying the Somewhere in Time album. He was also talking me that the beer that had been brewed for them where we were at had Maiden blasted to it 24/7 during the process.
All the guys were great. Hell Cory got on my cell phone and talked with my son in Colorado who is a big fan for a bit.
Love everything I have heard from these guys.
Will see you this Saturday for more beer and music!!

Badass to hear him on an album, the harsh vocals over the verse of From dawn to decadence sound to me like him as well
@@theolgrizz9376 The more I listen the more I find - I think the same (even here in chorus I think). Also there is some Paolo's vocal modulation in the last chorus (after reading album review from Wallofsoundau)!
