The reinforcement insert for that chassis was absolutely mind blowing. It probably works better then the factory chassis honestly and will allow for a greater load compared to its original spec.
Be one of those bitches that crab walk down the highway though. You can't just wack em back together like that. You need a couple pieces of string surely.
"It probably works better then the factory chassis honestly and will allow for a greater load compared to its original spec." that is extra dead mass that is replacing your cargo... and the bend in the chassis took some energy out of the driver cabin->as it looks that he survived=>with this improvements the chassis will be fine after next crash like this but who can tell how the cabin gonna look like... Also if you want to overload the truck the chassis is most likely not the part that gonna suffer the most from this move...
Absolutely amazed by the amount of hard labour that was put in to rebuilding this truck. At the beginning I thought it would be a right bodge job. What a result for their hard work 👍
The West is just so used to throw, replace and profiteering that honest proper repairs are sadly not the norm. With many dubious practices due to low ethics unfortunately your initial thoughts are justified.
It is a bodge ffs, heating the steel frame to straighten it weakens the structure ALOT. Painting it outside is always a guarantee for a top finish aswell ;) But needs must I guess. Turned out great looking tho.
@@PowerslideSWE they later reinforced that part with a huge piece of metal. Sure, that's not the manufacturer's recommended way of repair, but I've seen worse approaches and this one looks sturdy to me. I mean I would be fine with driving it myself.

Salute to you guys! As a European trucker I see workshops here in Germany with complete power tools to do this job but with all your skills you get to remake this beautiful actros!
Yeah, but with that amount of damage? That truck would have been scrapped in Western Europe, maybe that's even where it came from. It was probably exported like that - Which makes what these guys did all the more amazing
It is amazing what skills can be found in so called third world countries. That frame repair was a joy to watch, from how they straightened out the damage, to how they fabricated and fitted the doubler plate. The result no doubt being just as strong, if not stronger than original. Here, in our so called first world countries we would have simply scrapped the whole thing and replace it with new. I cannot help but think about how little energy went into repairing that frame, compared to how much more energy would be used to make a complete new frame, plus of course, the energy we would use in recycling the old frame. We simply waste so much in our 'first world' countries.
Very high quality work by these men. Who needs a laser cutter when you have some one who can use an oxy torch like that and the man using the sledgehammer must be immensely strong to be hitting like that. I still can’t believe how straight you got those rails and I loved the extra chassis rails to put strength back in the frame. Just amazing work and much respect to you. All the best from Australia 🇦🇺
Really top notch craftsmanship and innovation. This makes me think of what the very best engineering was like in the time of the steam engines. But they will be putting back all the high tech parts on top of this amazing hand restoration of the frame! I never would have thought that truck could be saved. Amazing is the best word for this.

the factory where actros gets built is actualy one of the most strict regarding safety shoes. In all others you have to wear low ones and there you need high top safety shoes. Also insulted ones against electric discharge because they say even a discharge from your body might destroy some elctric of the truck lol and then there is these guys. mad work
Foot wear missing? How about ear protection during hammering, eye protection during drilling, masks during painting, hand protection in general and and and. I know colleagues with cut of fingers, smashed feets or fingers, cancer in the lunges, scars in the eyes, cutting into legs, and and and. And this in a german factory and workers not following the safety rules.
@@whitemonkey7932 Agreed! There are clear, credible and compelling reasons why this would be declared a total loss, and they relate to standards and safety. The metal fabrication skills blew me away. You guys are masters.
The reinforcement insert for that chassis was absolutely mind blowing. It probably works better then the factory chassis honestly and will allow for a greater load compared to its original spec.

Okay; I'm not going to speculate on the collision other than if those were the tyres in use at the time, that may well say a lot about the incident.

There are clear, credible and compelling reasons why this would be declared a total loss, and they relate to standards and safety.
Looking at some of the Western truck repair videos with warehouse sized frame jigs and laser alignment, one can immediately appreciate why the manufacturers and insurers certify their work as being to OEM spec.
