RunLikeAVillain late seventies but still I agree. They we're one of a handful of groups experimenting with sound at the time and one of the only ones to ever gain any sort of popularity with big time musicians like Brian Eno and David Bowie.
One of my favorite songs by them I have the newer version of it which is the DEVO two albums on one CD which is Virgin Which is DEVOs European record company
You obey society's rules You will be society's fools You obey and then disobey You disobey but then you'll obey You thought your mom and dad were fools You never wanted to listen in school Now your mind won't go where you want to take it You got a ride but you're not gonna make it You'll never catch up Dad, pass the catsup Clean that mess up, 'fess up, listen up If you obey society's fools You'll be society's tools And you'll obey and then disobey You'll disobey but then you'll obey You thought your mom and dad were queer You always wanted egg in your beer Now your dog won't go when you try to make it He's got a bone but he's not gonna shake it If you take society's tools You will make society's rules Which you'll obey and then disobey You'll disobey but then you'll obey You thought your mom and dad were fools You never wanted to listen in school Now your mind won't go where you want to take it You got a ride but you're not gonna make it You'll never catch up Dad, pass the catsup That's all for now That's all we know This is the end
I had this album. Lol one of those Jem Imports. There were faster versions of " Sloppy(I think I missed the hole)" " Social Fools" and another. I saw them Halloween night in the big apple 1983!!! They were great. Lol Larraine Newman went out with one of the Casales.
Buddy!Your turntable is a little drunk? It makes me feel like I'm hearing it for the first time on a ripped off Bell and Howell school issued turn table. Its almost better. Thanks for sharing!
Still, my favorite Devo song, and it never officially was on a US album in its time.
That guitar sound blows the top of my head off..I love it!
MVP on this song goes to Mr. Alan Myers. He plays this with such fierce energy! 2’nd place goes to Bob #1.
The PUNK sound of DEVO !
One of the greatest rocking tunes and sounds good on your turntable
So great, wish they had done more rockin' songs like this.
Loooooove this version. Spudboy surfrock.
I got the yellow vinyl 7 inch in 1978. Took me ages to track it down. Still got it. Brilliant.
Me too
I just got it today!
I love this version!
It’s like if this song had been used for the first album
More and more relevant we're all DEVO now!
Que temazo, no lo conocía. Si es el punk del mejor. Buenazo😮🤯👍
1:00 AM smoked some hash and put this on seemed like it played for hours. Still have it somewhere can't stay up that late anymore.
Who says Devo weren't ahead of their time. Here they are doing fuckin' BREAKBEAT and techno rhythm in a song they recorded in the 1970's!

Silver Apples had some techno in 1968
Had this album back in the day.
This is so absolutely perfect...
Mark Mothersbaugh says this was in the top ten in Germany when it came out.
This is my very first time hearing it.
Underrated !
Merci!!! Great song!!
Amazing sound! Love it!
Une chanson magnifique. Merci beaucoup.
DEVO!!!!!!
Dad pass the ketchup

You obey society's rules
You will be society's fools
You obey and then disobey
You disobey but then you'll obey
You thought your mom and dad were fools
You never wanted to listen in school
Now your mind won't go where you want to take it
You got a ride but you're not gonna make it
You'll never catch up
Dad, pass the catsup
Clean that mess up, 'fess up, listen up
If you obey society's fools
You'll be society's tools
And you'll obey and then disobey
You'll disobey but then you'll obey
You thought your mom and dad were queer
You always wanted egg in your beer
Now your dog won't go when you try to make it
He's got a bone but he's not gonna shake it
If you take society's tools
You will make society's rules
Which you'll obey and then disobey
You'll disobey but then you'll obey
You thought your mom and dad were fools
You never wanted to listen in school
Now your mind won't go where you want to take it
You got a ride but you're not gonna make it
You'll never catch up
Dad, pass the catsup
That's all for now
That's all we know
This is the end
catsup lmao
On paper- this song would be an admittance to the funny farm
One two
Merci Alain!
That's all for now. That's all we know. This is the end! lol
This is punk.

I know this is a tape error. But it just sounds better in a higher and slightly faster key.
Stiff records where know for speeding up the tapes.

Was this version only put out on 7-in?
Nope, it's on the Stiff records B Stiff ep.
Wiggly world sounds almost like this
The name of the release is B Stiff, and it's an EP not an album.
