Every time I buy a new bottle of scotch I come watch your review to help me experience it more fully. This one I just had my first taste of and what a treat it is! Thank you, sir! Always a pleasure you are!
When Horts says "Mhmm wonderful" and finishes the glass I know I must add this to my collection.
ME TOO I ALWAYS BUY WHAT HE LIKES BECOUSE THAT IS THE PERFECKT BOTTLE HE HAS A GREAT TASTE
Me too dude I always buy everything dousent matter how expensive if. He says how wonderful en finished his Glass I know it. Is word every sigle penny I buy
One of my favorites. I watched this video last year and it really introduced me into the world of single malts. Thank you Horst!
I literally just had some 12 year Quinta Ruban for the first time and I was blown away by how good it was. I'm not a whiskey connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination, so I went online for a review and found this.. My new go-to channel for Whiskey Reviews.. Thank you Sir!
Thank you for the review! I always enjoy watching your review when I open a new bottle and sharing the experience with you. I totally agree, this whisky bottle is just amazing quality! Non-chill filtered and no colouring and on top of it they made an incredible product.
Really want to pick this one up now. I've just started going through his videos but this is by far the most praise I've seen from him.
I enjoyed having this whiskey with you, thanks for being here.
3 SLUGS!!! He loves it!
Sips.
wow horst you finished it all, that means its very good?
I'm gonna go buy it tomorrow.
Thanks for the video's, Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas
One of my favorites for sure.
Horst, you're a true hero
Just got this from my wife yesterday. What a coincidence!
I purchased it Today. Really great whisky. Smooth and long velvety finish
My absolute favorite!
I absolutely love this single. The new 14 is not even close as far as quality, complexity, and creaminess. From time to time I’ll see a 100ml mini of this still....snatch them all up! Cheers
Fairly new to whiskey appreciation. I never understood until a recent party I went to which ended in a whiskey tasting. We did not try Glemnorangie but I saw two of the miniature bottles in my local liquor store and tried them. The Quinta Ruban and the Lasanta. I tried the Lasanta and it was quite good.
Then I tried the Quinta Ruban. And while I'm an amateur at this... wow. I was floored. What an amazing experience.
I bought the large bottle as soon as I could find it.
And now I'm drinking a few ounces almost every night. It's lovely.
One of my favorites, If not the overall favorite!
3:20 reason why we love Horst! Hope someone makes/compiles (im no native speaker) all his funny mannerisms 😂😂😂
Have actually tried this accidentally :) loved it, best so far i have tested before. Agreed with close to perfect saying by you :) This will be my favourite for now :)
Sipping a dram of this as I watch and listen... I pick up the same vibes on the nose & palate as Horst mentions-----orange & dark fruits, nuts, chocolate, spices, mouthwatering, yeah.....on and on......I also concur this is a DAMN GOOD one and one I shall return to again.......
I Agree ! Fantastic Scotch Whisky ! ! !
I have just purchased a bottle of Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 12 years due to Horst's analysis and the price point. I tend to agree overall with his tastes -- his analyses tend to be unaffected by other sommelier's opinions, and hype created by shortages (i.e., Japanese whisky). I am excited to experience this whisky once it arrives in the mail. My glencairn will hold no other whisky until then.
I only have one objection... It's pronounced /kee'ntas/ besides that, it's always a pleasure to hear you!
My mum got me a bottle for this for Christmas! Soooo good!
JDC Drinks Whisky me and my friend, who know next to nothing, splurged on a bottle for new years. very pleased! definitely could taste the difference between the 12 year and the standard Makers Mark i drink lol!
It is incredibly good
Great ballance of spiciness and sweetness. I like it very much. Much better than lasanta. Cheers
The nose on this one is like a tangerine tropical breeze in Paradise. Love it. I have an autographed bottle of the Quinta Ruban from the man who made it Dr. Bill Lumsden.
You're very lucky! :D
i luv this one
Indeed a beautiful dram, though I'd say not so much for complete beginners. Too complex. But for a fan of Highland Scotch it's a near perfect experience!
For a 12 year this is fantastic 😍
14😜
6:50 " far too long ago that I had one of this " I want that on a t-shirt
Please review the glenmorangie 18yr old
It's a shame you can't review Glenmorangie new A Midwinter Night's Dram edition. Could I send you a sample ?
Great review, I like this bottle too, certainly should be in anyone’s collection that likes scotch
one of the best whiskies in the world
Horst, I love your mouth noises! Ahh, gotta get my fix of the Horstness!
A wonderful dram
Would you recommend Quinta Ruban over the 18 year old?
Sold thanks :)
Could you tell us where is the info about uncolored whisky on the cardbox? I have a new version of the quinta ruban and there is no info about this.
Alan Kłapa it depends on the region. I am in Poland and rarely such information is present on bottles.
You sold me even though I'm a peat lover
How are people finding this compared to the 14 year?
So what’s the difference with the black label
What are prominent differences between this and a Talisker Port Ruighe?
Nick Bovee for one thing, Talisker is peaty whereas glenmorangie is not.
This is my favorite scotch
So, this is from 2015, and this Quinton Ruban is aged 12 years. The Quinton Ruban available now (almost 2020) in the US is aged 14 years, but is still at the same price point. I'm not complaining! 😎
I like the white label. My Quinta Ruban has an all black label.
I don't know why, but I prefer the black label.
Try mixing Glenmorangie Lasanta 12 + Quinta Ruban 14 + Maker's Mark Wheated Bourbon + Gem&Bolt 💎⚡ Mezcal = a "Scotch American Mexican" aka S.A.M.
A personal favorite, shame it pops up so rarely round where i live.
Steve Barnes buy it online its normally much cheaper anyhow
Where do you live? Try Master of Malt.
One of my favorite whiskey bud they donth sell it anymore I have still 1 bottle close bud I keep that one closed vor a very special moment in my life when the doctor says you have 2 days to live I open it quiqly I drink it hahaha
Nosing 4:43
And 5:08 orgasmic nose, LoL
My impressions: First the port hits, then raisins, orange peel next, walnuts, at long last dark chocolate. Edit* watched your comments and almost the same order.
Whisky noob asking: Can anyone tell me if it is worth to buy the quintan ruban instead of the lasanta?
whatever anyone tells you is their opinion based on their experience. But experience does count for something. And in my experience, this Quinta ruban 12 beats the 10 hands down, beats the lasanta hands down, beats the nectar d'or hands down, beats the Alta and the 18 expression (only beats the 18 because the 46% abv in the ruban pushes more of its flavour in the palette. This quinta 12 also beats the new 14 expression. I have meticulously tried all of them back to back as I am a huge Glenmorangie fan and while they're all good, this one is the best, not easy to find anymore and also at a great price. It is (was) one of the gems in whisky history. Hope this helps!
@@catnapgee5357 2 years, no likes. Fixed. Good reply.
what is a dark fruit. i have idea?
Andrei Amodia Photography raisins, plums etc.
I have noticed....usually Mr Horst takes (in general) two sips when reviewing a new dram. For this one HE FINISHED it, with THREE!!! Lol.
Thus, I do believe it means this Whisky was ACTUALLY a very good one. Hahaha!
What watch are you wearing?
LycceaTV rolex submariner normally
SammySinOfficial ahh thought so but wanted to make sure
5:09 should be saying all i think
In my lame terms its too oaky for my taste i prefer the sherry cask lasanta.
Quinta is "kita", where the i is nasal 😉
Quinta is not "bodega"... It's farm 😉

The Quinta Ruban, and the Nector is too strong. They need to lower the ABV down to 43 percent like what they did to the Lasanta. 46 percent for a 15 to 18 year would be fine for me.
I disagree, the higher base ABV keeps more taste and complexity in the whisky. Just add a drop or two of water to lessen the "burn" a little.
I did not have the chance to let the Quinta Ruban and the nector oxidize. They were small tiny sample bottles. But some agree with me that too young a whiskey should not have an ABV from 46 to 50 percent. Older Whiskeys yes. Look at the ultra older Highland Park's and Glenfiddich's ABV's...
wesleytaylorviadomus why would you want your whisky further diluted when you can jusy add water to suit your taste?
I have always found that when I add water to malts it then becomes bitter. My opinion of course.
wesleytaylorviadomus are you using decent water?
You are great reviewer of whisky, but the sound of your gargling is quite annoying.
I love all the Glenmorangie expressions, except for this one. The Original, the LaSanta and the Nectar d'or are just amazing. The Glenmorangie QR, on the other hand is a HUGE disappointment. Glenmorangie QR is cloyingly sweet, one dimensional. ROUGH. For the record: I am not a fan of port and I like my wines/spirits very dry. I can see how the general public would love this one, cuz it is sweet. Pouring the rest of the bottle in the sink, was a pricy, but well worth. To each, their own. Cheers.
I haven't opened the small 35 cl bottle yet (so-called Explorer gift-pack containing every bottle except for Nectar d'or), so I am unable to compare your results to mine. I had a first dram of the Original this evening, so far not impressed. If QR is supposed to be cloyingly sweet and one dimensional, what is the Original for you?
What I absolutely don't get however is your decision to pour that fella down the drain. Instead of wasting good money on a whisky that doesn't suit you just to make an example, at least tinker with it, perhaps blend some other stuff you're not a fan of and try again? Can't get much worse then, huh? Or give it to a friend or what have you. But I guess you're right, to each their own. Have a good one.
@@al_kaloid my thoughts exactly, Christian is an idiot
damn... I cant stand this guy. lol and I try. DOnt know why?
The noises this guy makes disgust me.
well then grow a set of balls you wuss
So, am I supposed to insult you, now? Could go on a long time. Were you drunk when you wrote that cowardly bit of juvenile nonsense? It's just such a stupid, lowbrow comment.
Neither of what you mentioned. I was just as straight forward as you were with your initial comment.
Martin, I love the noises he makes. I guess those with little to no character will be disgusted but not to worry, there's good news.. you can always just fuck off!
